This is true. Please how do you reduce your years of experience or take out an an education such as a Masters degree from your resume without creating a gap in your resume? I've been worried about how to do this. Also, won't the recruiter check out your linkedin profile? Please help!!

Not always the case, if you have a Masters degree, there won't be discrimination against you in anyway. Labour laws constraint all employers to give equal opportunity and never to discriminate when they are hiring. Although some cards are secretly played under the table such as things like accents, background et al (as trivial as it may be, it exists)

A known individual got a graduate internship position with a renowned government parastatal that required only a baseline recent BSc. in the job requirements with a recent Masters degree. Many know persons have gotten entry level roles that required base line Bachelors degree with a Masters degree. While all employers aren't oblivious of the fact that employees will keep moving, the onus lies on them to give employees the reason to stay. A Masters degree holder will move at the offer of a better whatever, a college diploma graduate will do likewise.

To have idea about your long term commitments, they will usually ask the generic question such as "Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years". At the mention of this, the arrow has been handed over to you as a candidate to nail yourself where you deem fit.

It is never a minus to have additional qualifications, more so if you are a new immigrant with no canadian experience whatsoever, where the relativity of your experiences may be in question, a higher degree such as a Masters may further help your candidacy during hiring.

Conclusion: If you have a Masters, do kindly include it by all means, a Phd will be a no no..

I am not disputing his message.

All he could have done was, park and record his message.

A 30 minutes delay is better than jail time and troubles that comes with it.

I put my education. On my cv, education comes last. Profile summary, skills, work experience, education. So it's work experience that starts from 2015.

Oh I get it now. Thanks a bunch!

Hello Landed seniors,

I will be landing in Calgary in less than 2 weeks, I have 5 and 3 years old toddler.

Hello everyone, please this is for the account and finance people in the house; I am an accountant and I plan to write CIMA soon(my school has an MoU with CIMA, so I'm only going to write the strategic case study exam). I plan to convert to CPA once I'm done.
I'm thinking of focusing my career in corporate finance, so I will appreciate any tips landed seniors in the house can offer. Anything that will aid job search and landing a job. My plan is to land in Alberta.
@Blackbuddy
@czaratwork
Thanks

Hi, if the MOU your school will gives you some exemptions towards the CIMA, it's not a bad idea to go ahead.

CIMA does have MoU with CPA Canada so please study the details here and be better informed for the journey ahead, https://www.cpaontario.ca/become-a-cpa/why-cpa/internationally-trained-accountants/cima-mutual-recognition-agreement

As you requested for info directly from CPA, we'd appreciate if you could share the response to guide others. Looking forward to this.

They are cheap for my choosen destination and travel date.

Egypt Air is not as bad as people make it.

LOS to CAI usually just basic but good for the price.

Its no loss as its cheaper as you said.

Thank you, I'll make sure to share whatever response I get from CPA here.
Also, I would appreciate it if you can share any tips and suggestions on how to prepare for job search in Canada. My past experience is as an accountant but I will like to focus on corporate finance going forward so any tips you can share will be greatly appreciated.

What you quoted is out of the line bro, I am not going to study and I think 99% of people here are not going to study , just looking for a sane place and environment to live with our children, so let’s ague in-line with the topic. Education and war babu nooooooo not same bro.
Guitarlife:

grin grin The irony of it all, if Naija education was any good as you claim. You would not have a need to flee your own country when we are not at war. 99% of those who ran the country to the ground schooled in Nigeria and I dont think its gonna get better.

So the fact you are on this thread shows that Nigerian educational system is trash, how can you even argue this ? Our country cannot even produce but only imports toothpicks, toothpick !!! and you are here arguing based on sentiments... grin grin grin grin
