The people that collect this minimum wage are the cleaners or the office messengers that just looking for anything to do Though they will benefit in the increment but the real beneficiary are the ogas from level 8 above because their salary will be increase too I have never seen anyone that has wife and three children that collect minimum wage |

mauriceju2: The brain of such man who earn 30k and gave birth to 4 kids needs to be examined. Let's not fool ourselves here. If you know your income + that of your wife is less than 100k per month, you shouldn't put your kid in a school were you will be paying 40k per term. |

Truth is Nigeria salary structure shld be based in dollars, that way the cabal can fluctuate the currency the way they want and it won't affect the masses. 1 Like |

Oga go and sit down. Typical Nigerian, always looking at financials from the expenditure side of things only. From the Gowon era and his now infamous, 'our problem is how to spend it' to the present. Nigerians will NEVER look at the income/earnings side. They will always be comparing their earnings with 'senators' or citizens of developed countries. Ask them if they produce a fraction of what those they compare themselves with and you receive 'no answer'. Police will say they collect bribe because they earn far below those in the United States....nonsense. But everyone does it. They cannot teach, treat, build, administer justice, sweep streets, run, climb, drill, carry, trade.... because they donot earn enough. Is it not work that makes money again... That is why it is so easy for failed politicians to swindle them of power without getting any concrete, tangible return. Within the time span quoted what has Nigeria done to increase productivity and earnings to be able to give itself a raise. You can only pay yourself from what you earn. The alternative is either to borrow (to live a fake life, a life of subsidies in power, fuel, schools, hospitals, like we have been doing for decades) or steal (as you point out - from the citizens). Irrespective, Nigerians are irresponsible hypocrites. The day we wake up and take charge of this country and our destiny being active, responsible and engaging citizens the way nationals of other countries are, then we will know what to do to change our fortunes. I repeat again. Government is just a nomenclature for a group of people whose responsibility is to organise society, period. It is the quality of the society that determines its experiences. Nigerians are poor because we have an abundance of lazy, ignorant, corner cutting citizens whose penchant for blaming everything and everyone except themselves is legendary. Oga. Within the time frame quoted what have we done to diversify the economy. What have we done to DEMAND government organises us around alternative sources of income outside oil. Even within the sullied oil mono economy to keep up with inflation we should be producing something like 4 million barrels of oil a day, something near impossible. So where will the money to pay raise come from... I tell you.... hear this. The stripping of assets, the mortgaging of the future, the crushing of what is left of the middle class. This country is effectively slaving for government employees. 4 Likes |

Let's start from here first as time goes on they can decide to amend some certain areas regarding Civil servant allowance. OP stop looking into the allowance of the national Assembly if you wish to stay long on ds earth. |

The truth is, most Nigerian Youths are actually dumbb and they onky applaud mediocrity and incompetence... Imagine spewing such trash forgetting that the purchasing power of the Naira is not the same with what it used to be.... 30k that isn't even up to a common 100 dollars which other countries pay above is what Nigerians are celebrating forgetting that the 30k doesn't have much value in this present period... 4 Likes |

Just imagine the nonsense comments. The guy raised a very valid point and some people are saying we spend naira not dollar. Let me tell you the country depends solely on this dollar even though our medium of exchange is not dollar. Common airtime moved from 100 to 110. Clothes I bought a year ago for 1k are now being sold for 1.5k. What we need from this government is not an increment on minimum wage but how to make the naira stand head to head with the dollar. They should work on how to stop the free fall of our naira thereby cutting down inflation. Believe you me even if our minimum wage is increased without tackling this issues we are going no where. Take Venezuela as a case study. |
