I remember vividly that most pdp governors kicked against the 30000 naira minimum wage. As a matter of fact, the Ebonyi state Governor is still strongly opposed to it. I agree that minimum wage should be above N50000 but can states pay? The reason there was delay in transmitting the minimum wage bill to the national assembly was because of concerns for states. Delta and bayelsa states which are high earners from oil resources still owe workers, as a matter of fact bayelsa has been unable to pay gratuities since 2012, how then would they be able to cater for the minimum wage? Would Buhari also be held responsible for states' lack of initiative to boost their internally generated revenue?
