Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike on Friday said he would comply with the provisions of the new minimum wage law as approved by the National Assembly and recently ratified by President Mohammadu Buhari.

Wike who spoke through the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Emma Okah, said, Rivers state Government will pay whatever is approved by the Federal Government.

The Governor had earlier in various fora in the State unequivocally announced that the State will be the first to pay whatever was finally settled for as the new wage.

President Buhari recently signed into Law the N30, 000 new basic wage earlier approved for by the National Lawmakers.

It is expected that the Implementation will begin shortly after the inauguration of new administration in the country, on May 29, 2019.

It is not done that way,it will not affect all the component that make up the salary thing,but how ever it will get to that amount if not more than depending on your step,lets keep our fingers crossed by the 31/4/2019 we should be able tosay or guote the right figure but I assure you it is going to a three digit thing.

most of us earn 65k monthly, we've worked for 65 months now, (5 years and 5 months) and we've been paid a total of 4.225.000 naira (over 4 million)
What have you done with yours ?

2. House Rent of 5 Years (depend on where you leave)

3. Your tithe if you pay.

4. Remove feeding money for some families.

5. School fees of children for some who have at any level.

6. Health challenges for some.

7. Any other things that may arise.

The money did not come in bulk as calculated but in pieces. Imagine the time we were owed what happened to people, so much debt, some money are still pending like the 2 months some are expecting...and so on.

Though some achievements might have been made in one way or the other by some but may not be as expected for others.

If you are still trekking after 5 years of work and living in a rented apartment with debt, no change in wardrobe and no hope of getting a land without a reasonable loan you need a pay lift.

At least to 150,000 per month. Either through salary or other source of income. If not, keep praying that your reward should come to the earth.

In as much as we thank God for what we have, 65k still is still less considering the cost of things today...a lot of changes take place and we are still where we are, imagine 5 years without promotion...and we are talking about achievement.

May God favour us and lift us to the place where we ought to be in Jesus Name. Amen

While we pray for an increased salary, be rest assured that it won't make us financially comfortable because as your salary increases, your needs also increase with it, so even if you're placed on 300k salary. If you can't discipline yourself and save and invest now, don't think you can do it when your salary increases.
The key is to start imbibing the spirit of financial discipline, act like you're paid only 35k and put the other into savings/investment

What is simply means is that only those on Minimum wage of 18k Salary structure will most be affected i.e Core civil servants working in the Ministry, Depts and Agencies not NNPC,NPA,NSCDC, Customs ,FIRS etc so as it stands Minimum wage might not be extended to Uniform personnel,NNPC,FIRS NPA ,Lecturers etc
