Christians & even indigenes that are not Moslems are hardly considered for medicine. Kogi and Kwara indigenes are considered since they are northerners, from catchment areas and mostly Moslems.

And the score is not a grade abi?

Gimme any naija medical transcript and i can caclulate the equivalent CGPA for you.

If you don't know this (i know most medical students are usually maths deficient, still) then throw your degree away please.
in your attempt to look smart you are fooling yourself....so how do you know a five unit course? How do you know a two unit course and how do you calculate the GP?

In Medicine you either pass or fail... There are no grades in Medicine, perhaps they meant other courses like Anatomy or physiology...
Medicine has no grades...
...
Probably meant the overall best graduating student..

These are Anatomy and Physiology students... Am sure those girls must have applied for MBBS but were denied and their slots given to people with names like Sadiya, Muhammad, Umaru, Ganduje, Hadiza, Usman, Zubairu, Mustafa, Buhari and co... Imagine one of my younger ones who scored 320 in JAMB with six distinctions in O'level was still denied MBBS in ABU (and given Anatomy instead) despite he "finished work" in their PostUTME...
Why didn't your younger one choose a school from your civilized region. What is he looking for in a backward place. Nyamiri.

What is this one saying? Where were you when my mum lectured in A.B.U for twenty five years? If my family should contribute in training you northerners, then I don't see anything bad in getting a slot based on "merit" because my state is also under the "catchment area".

See where you display crass ignorance

Most universities require you to undergo a minimum of 150 credits before graduation.

ALL pre and clinical courses are university weighted and count towards your final degree before the university says...s/he has met ALL the requirements (including character) to be awarded such and such degree.

Just because you saw 70 as your score only does not mean the univeristy doesn't know or counts it as A or 60 as B.

If southerners fill up the slot then where do you want northerners to study medicine. We rarely leave the north to study so I think it's fair.

simple question....based on Nigeria University system , how do you calculate GP without knowing the course unit? Just tell us and stop embarrassing yourself. We told you medicine is not graded you are rumbling. Medical courses has no credits attached to them except in 100level. So it is not graded. Get that into your head and stop displaying your ignorance here

Plus your number of hours allocated to a course generally equals it's credit unit

If you knew how a university works you'll know your hours of course equals credit unit

Allow a school to go through you and dont just go through school.

Plus you should have read you handbook (except your type or school no get)

Waka pass. I don't know how it works. You said you know maths. You know how to calculate GP for us. So teach me here...I am waiting so I can know how to calculate medical courses without knowing the units. And for your information, medical courses has no allocated hours ..we have rotations in different units which includes unscheduled hours in clinics, wards, Grand rounds, seminars, lectures etc. So we call it medical posting. Medical school is not your regular University course. You won't understand how it runs by assuming on nairaland

That it is unclassified does not mean a CGPA is not being computed for you.

Your final degree is unclassified but you get graded from 100 to 600 level.

That's how their school runs, it been for decades and best students have been awarded accordingly.
sure you're right...but never has an award of first class been issued to anyone...so I find the OP absurd

You still don't understand me. Based on "MERIT", when someone has stayed and schooled all his life in the north and scores 320 in JAMB, 6 distinctions in NECO, 8 distinctions in WASSCE, and 93% in post UTME, the person should also be given admission to study MBBS(on merit) aside the fact that his state also belongs to the catchment area(Middle Belt)... You hardly come across that kinda result in the north these days.

They said faculty of medicine not department of medicine. There are other departments in the faculty like anatomy and physiology that award first degree.

I like it when people who never went to standard
schools assume the disfucntion they went through was norm.

It's like saying because lectures are asking for sex before you get marks or forcing students to come to school on Easter day is the norm

The NUC has a set standard for the number of hours each activity is supposed to take, meeting and passing a minimum qualifies you. These are the basis for accreditation.

If your senior registrar or consultant tells you to come at times outside of your normal rotation it does not mean they or you are right.

Please go to a standard school for your post grad. You've obviously been abused by a wrong system and now you have Stockholm syndrome, hence defending them up and down.

Pele. In simple terms, teach us how to calculate GP. And for your information, NUC don't set curriculum for medicine. They are not even responsible for accreditation of medical schools. It is medical and dental council. Until you are humble enough to admit you are delving into uncharted waters that you know exactly nothing about, you will keep fooling yourself

God bless your mum for her contribution towards educating north earners but if she didn't do it so many are praying and willing to do it and will do just as good as she had done.
Besides she was paid for her service or was it charity.
You should be grateful that the north gave her the opportunity to groom future doctors because am sure she will not enjoy that privilege where she came from so don't for a second think you have done anybody a favour.
