FADEO:Pls be careful with this ’letter of intent’,I read here of someone who sent a change of intent letter to the embassy not too long ago and they cancelled her visa. So I would advise you to thread cautiously. |

I got a quote from Emory Hospital and they gave this quote. Thank you for this information! I’d be happy to answer your following questions: 1. The cost of $10,740 and $13,564 includes a 35% discount. 2. This cost includes: delivery (physician fees), prenatal care, anesthesia, and facility fees ONLY. Additional services such as pediatric care, lab testing, imaging, stitching, etc. will be additional costs billed after hospital discharge. 3. Yes this includes the doctor’s fee. 4. Anesthesia is included in this cost 5. In the event patient does not use prenatal care, a refund will be processed back to the original method of payment. 6. Additional services such as pediatric care, lab testing, imaging, stitching, etc. will be additional costs billed after hospital discharge. My question is what do they mean by Stiching on point 6. If CS is done won't stitching be included? Please can someone advise.Or who ever has used this package before please help explain. 1 Like 1 Share |

dere5:It became a trend and they all followed it now see what happened. I hope people learn from the cancelled visa lady and I hope she gets the visa again. People need to understand that whether or not a change of intent letter is sent admission into the USA is at the discretion of the cbp Officer 1 Like |

Hello, In 2015 I applied for a US Visa b1/b2 went for interview and got it. Traveled to the US for 9 days and came back same 2015. Never used the Visa again. In 2018 when it appeared my drop box window had only 2 months to expire, I quickly used it and got renewed in March 2018. Then I was preparing to get married in April 2018. Now i am pregnant and considering giving birth in the US. my b1/b2 Visa expires in 2020 and I havnt used it.Do I have to go back and apply for medical Visa again or use my valid visa? I searched their site and didn't see any thing regarding that. Any body had similar experience? |

abujaniv: Hello. We don’t normally post in this thread, but it seemed worthwhile to drop in and correct some misconceptions. We say this a lot, but it bears repeating: Birth tourism is legal in the US provided the applicant is open about their intention and pays the medical expenses in full. This means that the applicant should declare any such intention they have at the Embassy/Consulate and again at the port of entry. If it happens that the applicant gets pregnant well after the initial visa interview, they will have the opportunity to make their intention, medical preparations and financial resources known at the POE. However, it will remain up to Customs and Border Patrol whether to allow that applicant into the country. Some are not, and they are put on the next flight home. This must be extremely uncomfortable for a heavily pregnant person, to spend 15-20 hours on a flight to America, several more hours being questioned, then another 15-20 hours on a plane home. This is what we want to avoid. Onto some other misconceptions: The concept of the “change of intent” letter is not valid. These e-mails are not read nor correlated with the applicant’s file. Some people who send such letters may get a form letter in response, but it is informational in nature and in no way confers permission to amend the declared purpose of travel. What matters is what you declare at the Embassy/Consulate and at the POE. After the fact e-mails do not carry any weight. Some applicants say, “I applied for only the B2 visa to declare my medical intent.” The B1/B2 visa categories are conjoined, so applying for only one does not make any difference. Other applicants say, “I appeared at the window with a big belly,” as if this alone is enough to declare their medical intent. Again, the responsibility is on the applicant to be honest about what they plan to do in the US. Other considerations: Medical care is expensive in the US, and costs can escalate dramatically if there are complications. Credibility is paramount in the US visa process. If visa officers detect any deception or obfuscation, no amount of excuses, documents or receipts will make up for the loss of credibility. 1 Like |

This is from 2017. From earlier parts of this thread.... I think it answers alot of my questions and for any one in in my boat. IMPORTANT TO NOTE HERE: b1/b2 are CONJOINED VISA. 2. Be ready to prove at the POE that your are able to pay all medical Bills, also when you reapply for a renewal be ready to show to the VO that you didn't give birth on tax payers money. BE honest. nimcote: |

Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by folmus: 9:54am On Apr 28, 2019 |
nimcote: I want to believe you quite understand what I meant. On your ds 160, you specifically stated whether b1 or b2. If You have a visa that states b1/b2 as expected, when you get to the POE, the CBP officer will stamp the kind of visa whether B1 or B2 when you are accepted. That will not give you unnecessary panic or fear as your ds 160 that the CBP officer has access to will state the purpose of your visit. You have said you are going for conference and you are granted the visa for that purpose. But you show up again with a different purpose that your B1 doesn't cover. B1 doesn't cover any medical in whatever form. Yes they are conjoined but your application specifically states which you apply for. Things have changed quickly from 2017 and 2019. So better to do the right than travels thousand of miles and be sent back home. The trauma can be traumatic . I am talking from my experience. My colleague was sent back home. Again, when I was stamped in March 2019, the stamp states B1 as thats what I applied for. Ask anybody who travelled recently, the stamp has the class of visa. So thread gently. |

I will call their office tomorrow to ask for what to do, should I decide giving birth in America is something I want to do. So if they say come in, and apply for a new Visa, fine. Thanks for all contribution. I will let you guys know the result. Wont be sending any letter of change of intent, because I havnt even made up my mind still in the early stages of pregnancy. |

I hear you but you need to understand , B1/B2 are conjoined. I had a B1/B2 VISA, was stamped in with the B2 STAMP at POE and was give 6months stay. But this was a in 2015.... folmus: |

nimcote: You will see I didn't dispute the conjoin theory. Thats what they all carry. However, you specified the type you needed in your Ds160. 1 Like |

Ok in the spirit of giving back. I will like to share my story. I recently renewed my visa. 2016 got a B1/B2 Visa for my family. We had our vacation June 2016 and stayed for a month. 2017, I got pregnant and I did the change of intent. Had my baby Dec 2017 and got back April 2018. Did dropbox Feb 2019 and I got the almighty 221G letter after 8days. Scheduling a follow-up interview was tasking but by end of March I checked my status and the whole of April was available. I picked end of April to give me ample time to prepare for the interview. My hospital bill for birthing was about $9250 excluding lab. Got all my zero receipts and kept reading this thread on nairaland. On the D-Day. I set out with all my documents even carried my LO blue passport as I saw on this thread with her BC. Infact I was more than ready, had my itemized bill, zero receipts, 6month payslips, statement of account, letter of introduction from my office...my people I even carried my recent promotion and recommendation letter Guess what? absolute nothing was asked other than my receipts, itemized bill. In my opinion, I think is the confidence that one exudes during interview goes a long way, be sincere and look them in the eye. Try not to stutter. I mean everyone on my queue during my interview time was not given a visa, I was scared but I told myself that I will give my best smile and be as confident as I can. Visa was granted. Grateful to God. 14 Likes 2 Shares |
