TOUR TO EAST AFRICA------------ My Experience by kakakii: 11:01am On Apr 27, 2019
Please ignore my writing skills (reason I am creating this thread is to improve my writing skills lol )
I and my friend were planning to go to Kenya for vacation so we came across EAST AFRICA VISA online and we said to ourselves why not make use of this opportunity to collect east Africa visa instead of collecting Kenya visa only, east Africa visa cost 100 USD while Kenya visa is 50 usd.

After making more research, we later abandoned east Africa visa as a lot of people claimed to have issues at Kenya immigration mostly so we decided to collect visa for each country ( Uganda visa , Kenya visa and Rwanda visa )

We would have gone for visa on arrival to these countries but we read some review about immigrations collecting exorbitant fee from people in the name of issuing visa, so to avoid that we decided to apply for visa online to each country.

So we started with Rwanda, all east Africa countries visa requirements are pretty much the same , what you need are
Flight booking
Hotel reservation (we used AIRBNB all the immigrations doesn’t know what airbnb is by the way, so if you are the type that doesn’t like to talk much, used booking . com lol)
Yellow fever (very important)
Your passport photograph and international passport of course
To apply for Rwanda visa if you don’t want visa on arrival visit this website single entry visa
irembo . gov . rw ( close the gap )

to apply for Uganda visa vist visas.immigration. go. Ug ( close the gaps )
by the way Uganda doesn’t give visa on arrival to most countries again ( not only Nigeria )
so you don’t have any choice than to apply online like I said the requirements are all the same

To apply for Kenya visa you visit evisa. Go .ke
Note only we tried using many cards to pay online and only GTB works ..

So we made a booking via RWANDA AIR (multi city booking) our first destination is KENYA then UGANDA then RWANDA (I’M updating from RWANDA).

The flight itinerary goes thus – from LAGOS we will stop over at KIGALI then another stop over at UGANDA before heading to KENYA. Had we known we would have made Kenya the last destination because Kenya is the best (also the worst I have ever seen in terms of corruption, in fact based on this experience and communication with the locals Nigeria corruption is in kindergarten ...we elaborate later).

We also made an airbnb booking and printed the confirmation.
Now when applying for visa using airbnb to apply for visa mostly won’t work as there is high chance it will be rejected, so you need to make proper booking via booking.com, after your application has been accepted you can now use your preferred service either hotel.com...booking.com or Airbnb

Yellow fever can be gotten from the airport or apapa for 2 -3k.. I used an agent paid 7k ( I didn’t want to stress myself )
also tell them to put long validity on your yellow fever .. you dont' want to bribe because your yellow fever says 7 days validity

Any clear photograph will do as long as it is within the required size

We got our visas, on the 19th of this month we jet out for KENYA. We reached Nigeria immigration and the man started acting funny asking how much we had with us, we said we didn’t have any money with us as we have our debit and credit card and we showed him.

This man changed it for us saying he will never allow us to pass, we changed it for him too and vexed for him he later started playing the tribal card ( you know we be Yoruba na we should understand each other better blah blah ) we later give him 5$ ( 1x5) maybe he think it’s huge money given the fact that we squeezed it in his hand.

We jet out to RWANDA Kigali. .. the first annoying part is that our plane doesn’t have any entertainment ..
That reminds me of an event that happens when I went to dubai

Around last month when traveling to Dubai I used kenya airways I noticed something when we were going
1. The airplane we used from Lagos to Nairobi is like ojuelegba Bus, tight space, no entertainment like movie etc, for God sake we are on a 6 hours journey and no entertainment? ..

2. Then we switched to another Kenya airways connecting to Dubai, this airplane is beautiful everything is condusive, I enjoyed my flight from Nairobi to Dubai ( same kenya airways 3 hours 30 journey)

3. On our way back same kenya airways carried us from Dubai to Nairobi, different airplane from the last one beat, conducive all entertainment available

4. Then we connect to another Kenya airways from Nairobi to Lagos, this time around this airplane is worse than point number 1 ,no entertainment, we were packed like sardine..
The worst thing is that 20 mins before we landed AC of that plane stopped working and driver ( yes driver) refused to say anything

Immediately we landed everything turned to HELL, it was damn Hot that if we had stayed 5 more minutes inside that plane, we would have died

How come they treat us like that, why is Dubai that is just 5 hours journey from. Nairobi using good flight compare to Lagos to Nairobi
..we went to complain about our experience as soon as we landed to the Faan staff, and they were just looking at us like strangers

I have video proof of this
As in our own people was just looking at us like we were some kind of strangers

And I had to repost this now because one mode removed it from first page, only God knows why

Its a known fact that all airlines(excluding direct flights eg BA/Virgin to London,Emirates to Dubai etc) use their old , rusty planes for their lagos to anywhere legs of the flight. A known fact!!!

The FAAN staff were staring at you guys because its nothing new. The sad reality.

In their defence we make no noise about it, so they get away with it. And the direct flights are not always immune, a friend of mine told me that BA once gave them an old 747 for Lagos - London that was so clapped out that they had to complain about it when they got back home.

I can confirm what the OP said about KQ on Nairobi to Lagos; I entered the same crappy plane with no entertainment earlier this year on both legs of my trip. If not for the fact that Ethiopian Airlines' arrival times in Nairobi are so inconvenient, I wouldn't bother with KQ any longer. The sudden change in Nigeria's fortunes is interesting, because I've even been in a Kenyan Airways 787 from Lagos to Nairobi before, flown by one of their expat pilots, sometime in 2017, which showed how much attention they were giving to the route.

t's not only the planes, the boarding areas are not always the best. KQ boards Lagos in an odd corner of the airport sometimes. In Amsterdam, KLM boards us at one out of the way boarding gate with an uncared-for toilet. CDG is much better. Flying Lufthansa soon, will see what treatment Frankfurt serves up to the Nigeria-bound.

I think its pretty common that if you're flying to a country with a transit inbetween, then your first flight from Nigeria to your country of transit will be wack. Then from country of transit to your destination it will be a cool jet.

That said, its not always the case. My experience with Ethiopian airlines was the opposite. Abuja to addis was a cool jumbo jet. But addis to Delhi was a small terrible jet with no entertainment. Same on our way back

Let me quickly drop the last update for the night
So we get to Kigali where we are suppose to connect to Kenya.. On getting to the immigration they stopped my friend because he was looking suspicious lol, searched him specially, then brought out a dog to sniff his bag, I think the dog I trained to detect drug.. We kon dey fear, what if them see drug cheesy.. The guy later free us, we spent about 4 hours in Kigali lounge before going to Kenya.. Then we reached Kenya...

I presented my passport to the immigration and he asked what I am coming to do in Nairobi I said tourism ..
He said NO that we are coming to Nairobi to wash our passport ( whatever that means) Not coming to Nairobi to tour, because it doesn't make sense to spend 4 days ( to him 4 days is too short) ... I changed face for him.. All the questions he asked me I kept mute because I was just angry and dumbfounded... You are not even rejecting me because I will be overstaying.. It's laughable... My friend in Kenya has told us that we should have done visa on arrival.. They will collect 100$ from. Us.. 50$ fee and 50$ bribe... That's exactly how he put it...

So he said what vexed him is the fact that we did our visa online instead of the immigration...
So he sent us to meet his oga at the top.. Where the battle begin , where they wine and dine with corruption
