meforkene:Thanks! This was a tad-bit helpful and insightful. See the explanation I got from the net! The Night King doesn't really care about Bran Stark, but he cares very much about The Three-Eyed Raven, which is the magical being Bran Stark has become. According to Bran, who is all-knowing at this point, the Night King's real goal isn't just to rule Westeros, but to erase it. And, as Bran explains, "I am its memory." The "its" in question is the world. Samwell Tarly backs this up, explaining that Bran's "memories don’t come from books. And your stories aren’t just stories. If I wanted to erase the world, I’d start with you." There have been a number of larger theories about the Night King's enduring obsession with Bran/The Three-Eyed Raven over the years, but Bran settled the mystery directly tonight - S08E02. The Three-Eyed Raven is the keeper of the memories of man and the Night King wants to destroy all trace of mankind. As a result, he needs to take out The Three-Eyed Raven to complete his big picture plan. So with this said Bros, it would have only been a matter of time for the NK to come for Cersei and Daenerys wherever the fvck they are if he had successfully killed Bran and we all know his army would have multiplied like viral cells and Cersei and Daenerys stood no chance as the NK is hell bent on wiping out the whole of human existence. This is why I said Daenerys didn't just come to fight for the North or for the love of Jon but saw the bigger picture as Jon preached about defending the survival of mankind in the battle against the dead. This further gives credence to the meeting with Cersei although Cersie declined joining the fight, but didn't matter anymore since the NK was killed without her assistance. Thanks once again Bros! I hope chaps here will be reasonable enough to read and see Daenerys didn't just come to fight for the North, but for human survival with a larger force. 7 Likes |

Isomerizm: Saying she could stayed on the island was only an example of the number of options available to her, none of which included going north The night king is not a factor from POV of Danaerys, Cersei or Euron. You're sat in your chair as a viewer seeing the bigger picture, and then making the error of assuming the characters can see what you see. They can't. In the shows very first episode, Ned Stark executes a guy who had seen and was warning about the threat of the white walkers. Quite frankly Jon Snow and Bran are the only people who care about fighting the Zombies.Cersei doesn't. Danaerys doesn't. Stannis didn't. The Lord commanders Mormont and Alliser certainly didn't. Even in the heat of battle, Sansa clearly doesn't. The white walker horde simply do not figure in most of these people's plans, so a lot of the stuff you've said up there is completely irrelevant from the point of view of many main characters. Danaerys only went up north to fight for the north aka Jon. Not because she gives a rats arse about zombies Any other argument is completely facetious 9 Likes 1 Share |

crixuss: They would all have died for sure if Arya had not killed NK. You have to bear in mind scenes don't always actually follow, you can have several scenes showing one after the other but actually happening at the same time. 2 Likes |

Endy10:It was actually Drogon that came to the rescue of Jon, the NK was about killing Rhaegar with his ice spear before Dany came to the rescue. |

You all shouldnt allow GOT cause quarrel and confusion. It's all fiction. We are not meant to understand it the same way. Some pple give different meaning to what they see which might be right or wrong depending on their point of view. 5 Likes 1 Share |

HanksAnuku:I actually do not disagree with you about her going to the North to fight for a cause that was never within her scope of plans. What necessitated this argument was what someone said about Sansa having absolutely no right to request for the North's sovereignty, simply because Daenerys played a big role in the Salvation of the north, which I disagree with. |

Isomerizm: Well, what right does Sansa have? The person who cut the deal was the King in the North, who's jurisdiction includes Winterfell. Morally, Sansa has no locus standi either, as she scribbled around in the dirt, whilst Danaerys fought to defend Winterfell. Sansa has no right to open her mouth without first asking permission. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Re: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by Isomerizm(m): 12:32am On May 01, 2019 |
HanksAnuku:Now that TNK and his undeservingly overrated long night are history, and we're back to heritage, and heirdom, and boring monarchy rituals, she does have a right. The person who negotiated the deal, as far as knowledge and Dany and the North are concerned, isn't a Stark, and should the knowledge go viral, would be stripped of the title of The Warden of The North, which he currently holds. This should invalidate his pre-love, pre-war negotiations (I'm not quite sure how it works in ASoIF world). Bran, apparently, has nothing for the triflings in politics and succession, so he's off the queue. This automatically legitimises Sansa as the Lady of Winterfell. As the Lady of Winterfell, she does have every right to request the North's autonomy, if that's what she wants. It now depends on Daenerys to grant her, and that's after she's won the wars to come, and taken the throne. But saying she has no right to ask, or even fight, basically because Dany was one of the key players in the defeat of TNK (or because, she had an agreement with the supposed King in the North? Whichever), is farcical. 1 Like |

Seun: So many glaring plot holes, plenty cringe-worthy out-of-character decisions/behaviours, ridiculous reversal of already established "in-world" physical laws... I could go on and on. But I just remind myself that the show runners are really doing their utmost best since Season5 to sustain a grand tale that the renowned author has been unable to finish. And then you watch that 40-min Behind-the-Scenes video and see how much effort and dedication they put into this... So I just enjoy it the way it is. I'm still hoping Episode 4 holds some surprises, though. 1 Like |

Uyiii: Based on the direction the show has taken, absolutely nothing would change. As Bran is portrayed up to present in the show, if the NK had managed to kill him and then Arya killed the NK afterwards, nothing at all would change - the Citadel is still standing. The show's choice of portraying the Three Eyed-Raven as "the memory of mankind" is almost inconsequential, unless (I hope) there is something more that the producers still intend to reveal. Otherwise, as someone here has already opined, very little would have changed in the entire plot if Bran had died from his fall back in Season 1, and I agree. Bran's status in the books is a whole lot more critical and crucial. He is probably the most important character. The book series are actually titled "A Song of Ice And Fire"; more than anything it tells you the Seven Kingdoms' bickerings over the Iron Throne (which the TV show is currently implying to be the MAIN event) is actually just a side-show. But of course this thread is about the show and not the books, so let's stick to it. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

Though i enjoyed the episode, i can't help feeling some things are off. Tyrion's role (i mean, he is most people favorite), how did samwell survived those withings again?. And The Night king breaking just like that. My best moment Lyanna killing a giant. I always look forward to that girl's mouth and expression (always straight as an arrow). Her charging at and killing a dead giant a scene after cleganne was shivering, was the best scene for me. 2 Likes |

Yonce:you sound like a broken hearted girl! Danny roasting wights wasn't the plan, Danny broke the plan so he had to follow up, being a battle commander demands that you grow a heart of stone and focus on the objective! Jon couldn't do that before at the battle of the bastards, he learnt his lesson and tried to be an actual battle commander this time, it would have been foolish to let Danny and dragon ride out alone when a two against one battle was the only feasible way of defeating the night king on viserion. He couldn't sneak up on the night king like arya? Seriously is that even an argument point? You would now want to tell us that unlike Jon, you knew dragon fire wouldn't kill the night king right? He went for the night king, Danny and dragon got to him first, he like the rest of us expected that to be enough, when it wasn't, he ran towards him only for the dead to be raised against him so what could he possibly have done differently? And strictly speaking, arya didn't successfully sneak up on the night king Also when dragons lock up on each other during a fight, their riders contribute very little to that fight except directing them to disengage or flee, Jon was committed to stopping for good the threat that was viserion, a fight he shouldn't have had to fight alone if Danny could have acted like a good battle commander and stuck to the plan. And with a dragon wight breathing blue flame on everything and anything in the path towards the godswood, you expected Jon to grow wings and vault over him into the godswood right? 5 Likes |
