Cross River State governor, Prof Ben Ayade, has promised to pay the new N30, 000 minimum wage approved by the Federal Government.
Ayade, who spoke through the Secretary to the State Government, Tina Agbor, promised to implement the new minimum wage as soon as necessary modalities are sorted out by the Federal Government.
The governor made this known at the May Day rally in Calabar on Wednesday just as workers in the state got their salaries for the month of May.
The state chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Clarkson Otu, said workers and the leadership of labour were unhappy over such early payment of salaries by the state government even though the government means well.
“As labor leaders, we do not support it (early salaries payment). We have told His Excellency that it is not proper.
“April salary was paid only last week and on May 1st he pays May salary. We are surprised he still paid early this month in spite of our protest. We will continue to engage him on that,” he said.
The state chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Ben Ukpepi also decried the early payment of salaries by the state government.
Ukpepi said the leadership of labor under him will engage with the governor with a view to putting an end to early payments of salaries in the state.

Once the federal release what template ? Is it the federal that will tell the state how to pay and structure how the state with pay her workers ? I don't understand this political grammars. What salary template is that ?

I am hearing that our state government has directed the state civil service commission to interview and promote rivers state civil servants to their NEXT SALARY GRADES.
abeg, does this mean that someone on level 8 will move on to level 9 or it's only the steps that will be advanced?

Those already promoted to level 9,10,... are being owed years of arrears. Until they are paid their entitlement; I won't take anything as regards to promotion to the bank.

The National Salaries, Incomes,And Wages Commission has the statutory powers to guide Governments accordinly in that regards,until they release that pay chart(template) nothing will happen. The reason NLC and TUC gave them 2 weeks.

My brother... Reason for the chart,if you want to pay 30k use the chart exactly,above 30k and below 30k,you renegotiate with state wing NLC,TUC,JNC. States will be doing that this month. Arrears effective April,my worry,Governments does not regard ARREARS.

Renogitiate what exactly ? So wike will pay exactly 30k to level 4 worker (the current least level in government now) and add just any amount he likes to level 8 workers salary let's say 10k ? Let's just see how this minimum wage plays out

Rivers State Interest Free Loans Disbursement Begins by musictori: 1:48pm
In line with the pledge of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, the Rivers State Government has commenced the disbursement of interest free loans to traders and entrepreneurs.

The resolutions of the Rivers State Government were made public by the State Commissioner of Information and Communications, Emma Okah, the State Attorney General, Dr Zaccheus Adango and Special Adviser to the Rivers State Governor on Politics and Strategy, Chief Emeh Glory Emeh on Thursday after the State Executive Council meeting at the Government House Port Harcourt.

Okah[b] said that the State Government has also disbursed interest free loans to civil servants under the first phase of the programme.

He said that empowerment programme will run on a monthly basis for civil servants in the state.[/b]

Also speaking, Special Adviser to the Rivers State Governor on Politics and Strategy, Chief Emeh Glory Emeh said that the interest free loans for entrepreneurs and traders have been disbursed for 12 Local Government Areas.

He said that under the second phase of the exercise, 11 Local Government Areas will benefit from the scheme.

Emeh said that 600 traders and entrepreneurs have benefited from the empowerment scheme, while N200MILLION shall be disbursed monthly.

He added the list of all beneficiaries will be published for Rivers people to know the beneficiaries.

18,000÷#87= 206.8965517 litres
