Yes go to the DNS office to inquire about it.

Your information is correct. The Edo state school of nursing has been closed down and transcripts kept at the Ministry of Health. Just hope the records are intact.

Another question for you and everyone,
Which state board of Nursing in US can one apply to without Social Security number? Maryland board of Nursing requires social security number.

Thanks in advance.

Currently on that. She got a contact in Abj, and they promised 3 weeks.
I am sorry to bother you sir. Have they sent the Verification to the UK? If yes, did they furnish your wife with the tracking number?

They have sent it to the UK as she told me. Unfortunately she wasn't given the tracking number, except things changed without me being aware.

Thank you so much

Did it took a month before NMC to sent it?

I'm just about to get into Nursing school this year and I can't wait to learn from you all and also share my journey! I'm thankful to have bumped into this thread when I was searching for information on Google earlier today.

Please is there any other forum asides this thread that members can connect?

IYIMAN:
It is quite a while on this forum. A lot of colleagues have moved to both the UK and the USA on this forum. Thanks to everyone that have contributed.
It is comforting to know that the creator of this thread Barbiee is packing her bags already to relocate soonest. A good number of us in the US are doing fine.... Maybe a new thread will soon come up to share our experiences, practising outside Nigeria.
To everyone still planning, make hay while the sun shines, before the requirements change. All the best to those preparing for Nclex.
Please consider *Vickyehi* advice. Saunders and Uworld. Shalom!

Hello Okolomamma,

Yess I also have a Bsc in Zoology and a Pgd in Communications but I'm just about starting Nursing school here in Nigeria as well.

I'd love to connect with you if you don't mind. Please send me a mail : uchennaanochilionye@gmail.com or drop your email address so I can reach you and connect from there.

Warm regards.

Okolomammma:

Diploma in nursing is valid anywhere in the world. I have a degree in microbiology and I'm currently in a school of nursing here in Nigeria, after bn denied visa several times. So whichever pathway is okay, direct entry would be 4years, since u will be entering 200level directly and its way cheaper. While if u need just RN, its just 3 years and its more expensive, my school fees is close to 200k. So its your choice. Hope I answered your question.

hello ma'am, how do one switch to a nursing career with a business degree

You secure admission into a nursing program and complete the courses required to graduate. Then you take your final qualifying exam and receive your license.

Congrats on your admission my dear.
I am happy for you that you have all this information at your disposal because it would help you keep pushing forward in nursing school.
In my days, I knew I wasnt studying for the practice in Nigeria. Infact at the back of my med surg text book, I wrote the anual salary of nurses in USA at the back (16m naira). When I dont feel like reading again, I just turn it to the back look at my salary and I always received fresh annointing grin.
So congrats because you have us all here with genuine info guiding you and giving you hope. kiss kiss

For the US, make sure you are going to states that are going to sponser you. Some states are only immigrant friendly to those that already have work permits.

I am not sure I understand your question.
There are nursing schools present in Nigeria in almost all 36 states and there are also a handful of schools who offer a Bachelor's degree in Nursing. At the end you gain a Nigerian license to practice.

That means having an inside person so that your file is sent immediately it is ready and not stored for the monthly sending period.

This information isnt necessarily true or maybe I dont get your explanation.
1.....states DONOT sponsor people in the manner you are implying.
2.....Your choice of the state to use should be based on the state with the least requirements and hassle.
3.....you can endorse your license into any state on the long run. That means if you start off with a Texas license, you can apply for a Chicago license later without having to repeat the Nclex exam.

I know what I’m taking about. If you need job sponsorship, then location is very important .

For example , Maryland is immigrant friendly , but when you go on the hospital websites to apply for job , the first thing they ask you before you start the job application, is if you have authorization to work in the United States. I’m assuming if you check no , then the application would be denied. In highly sought out places like California job, job sponsor would be low . But currently , it hard to get job sponsorship directly from hospitals in general.

Ohky.....now I get your point.
It has always been hard but it has little to so with the fact that you are an immigrant. It's mostly because the hospitals dont want to have the extra burden of dealing with USCIS.
But most people in general use agencies and dont opt for direct sponsorship. Personally, I prefer to sign to an agency because they have different facilities that I can pick from. Example if I dont like the work environment at one facility I have an option of changing it because my primary employer is my agency and not the hospital. But if the hospital sponsors you then you are stuck there.
