Reason for Ratings for each match is to tell us how consistent he was week in week out. Total Average rating can't give us that.
This is because, total average performance can not tell us if a player had a parallel 7/10 performance or a mix of 10/10 and 5/10 performance


Also consider the position he played

The year Hazard won PFA, he recorded 14 goals and 9 assists.

That season, Chelsea scored a total of 73 goals in the Pl.

Cesc recorded a total of 18 assists.

Costa scored 20 goals in that season.

Now compare it to this season. Out of 63 we scored, Hazard has been involved in almost 50%.

No other player has a double figure. Not in goals, not in assists.

So this is unarguably his best season in a Chelsea shirt.
