Several of the players had no business in that team.
TheGoodJoe:

Who were the proven players? We suffered a fall in quality players then. Keshi was reviving the team.

Thank you my broda,we know but we can't talk

Keshi won the afcon with crappy players ,and that's a good achievement and nobody can criticize him ,after all football is all about winning trophies

Include qualifying for WC and making 2nd round of WC as well.

Pound for pound is Ndidi really a better footballer than Etebor? I don't think so.

You're wrong. Ndidi is way better at his job than Etebo is at his.

had it been there was VAR in the world cup that year.... that Dzeko goal would have been recorded...

so stop saying we qualified for the second round...in a group where you have lowly Iran and Bosnia debutants

No bad for omeruo, he has had a good season this year.

But na only naija players dey celebrate team of the week like say na trophy, see as him friends they type congrats for him page like say him win champions league.

Inferiority complex dey really worry them

Na so dem dey congratulate themself for goals ,when chuks score Barca for that 4-4 and that man of the match performance ,see as all of them dey write congrats for the goal like say na so others African top players dey do

Ordinary goal clearance from line wey omeruo clear ball e post am for instagram like say na achievement ,he for no clear the ball nah e for allow all enter as if dem no dey pay am salary .

The only congrats that's important if you don't win a trophy is etebo sw player of the year ,or if Ndidi go win Leicester young player of the year again

It's been long most of the SE fans saw their players being recognized at such a high level. Such is to be expected.

Inferiority complex is not so easy to spot as far as I know but yet we tend to bandy the word so much here.

Did you later know who the Oyinbo is?

Let the man rest in peace. He only missed one afcon sir. I wonder if ogu, omeruo have continued to bribe their way into the team. All the boys he fought against were later invited by thus same man, Yobo, Osaze and Uche. It's on record he's the only coach in recent years to look in the direction of Sone Aluko who according to Forgiveness was frozen out of the team cos he's principled. Keshi gave opportunities to Rheem Lawal and Hope Akpan, who else has called up thus guys? Don't forget Keshi introduced Balogun to the SE.but anyway we see things differently, I rest my case.

Keshi was pressured to invite Some Aluko whose performance could not go unnoticed with Rangers. Despite that, he benched him for Uzeonyi.

the thing is paining me

You see the kind of midfielders being paraded by these countries, and we are shamelessly hyping Etebo here. We should be soaking chaplet somewhere at this point, because I can bet you that the AFCON group stage will be tough for us to begin with, let me not even reason what comes after.

who is hyping Etebo? No be people like you dey hail him here when he put up a star performance during our 3-1 victory vs Algeria. Continue to dey shame una player... I repeat Etebo is a decent player not some trash. Shebi Naija get plenty MFs for Europe ,why have they not find a better replacement. I still remember some peeps here calling Omeruo flop.. the boy yaf shut them up with his latest performances already.

Omeruo moved to a better league and that is what many have been clamouring for since.. He was stagnant when he kept going to Turkey. Now, we are seing him challenge himself.

Etebo was great against Algeria but his recent performances have been average.

Etebo is not as good as you people are painting him

What's his strong point, is he a good passer? Is he a good tackler? Does he shoot? Does he screen the defence? Does he control games?

He's just in the team because we've no other alternative, he won't make it in the first team of top African teams

I agree and disagree.

Etebo has a fantastic engine and is highly versatile, this guy has played almost every outfield position on the pitch as a professional.

Without going into too much detail he simply needs to add a bit more quality to his game in the final third. He can become as good as Essien was. For now he is a good squad player.
Gbayi bro...that is my point. we may not get WC players for eagles o but let's appreciate the one we have. Rohr tactical approach sometimes limit his performance. The Croatian match is an example.

Let us stop the had it been scenario analysis sir. The lowly Iran frustrated eventual finalists Argentina in the wc and list by 1 nil against them. The lowly Iran came back to the last wc and won against Morocco and even drew with Portugal with one of the greatest players ever. Had it been there was var in the Brazil wc, we would have been awarded a penalty against France and matuidi would have gotten a red card as well, that, trying to tow your line of what if scenario argument. Respectfully sir, all I see is an attempt to diminish the man's achievement in any way possible including using what if analysis.

we won't have play France if there was VAR...
Bosnia will get the nod ahead of us
can you compare the way we play Argentina in Russia to the Brazil outing?

Iran has improved not all nations are stagnant like Nigeria....

he is too old for us to be talking about what he can become.

This is it. There is no becoming Essien. He is a jack of all trades and master of none. He is not a game changer. You can't look to him for penetrating crosses or screening the defense. He doesn't have good hold up play, he can't dictate the pace of a game. At most, he has bursting runs, but that's what the wingers are for. He is in essence, useful everywhere, and yet, useful nowhere.

He is just in the team, for lack of a better option. It isn't because he is a great footballer, or he has done anything exceptional. He is not much different from John Ogu, they are dispensable players and their careers will end unceremoniously in the Super Eagles,

One day, he won't be called up, and nobody will care, because he was never all that anyway.
crosses? holdup play? screening defence? I think you should watch him more often. Etebo is just a poor man Ramsey/Vidal kind of player. His only shortcomings are in the final third.

the Argentina team of last world cup was better....forget the French team was more and now better organized unlike in 2014
they would beat any team in Russia so don't pass all because Argentina left in the round of 16

If Chukwueze had been white he'd be ranked a lot higher, they even ranked Zaniolo with two career goals above Chukwueze

I agreed with your post. Am not saying he is already the Messiah. But I hate it when people talk trash of a player. My point is Etebo is not WC but he brings something to the team.
