well according to how it works on xbox, u don't need xbox live gold to play single player games on it but u will need it for multiplayer.

The games I'm interested in are ps3 games I'm sure these will not be available on the subscription ...

I still have yet to be convinced why this is a good idea .

Nope, they just stay in your library with the tag “your origin access
subscription has expired” and they’ll be greyed out. Although the game
files you downloaded will remain on your hard drive, you just won't be
able to launch the game till you renew your subscription.

You have a point there,although even without backward compatibility there are still a handful of games to play., eg mass effect andromeda and dragon age inquisition and their sport games.

personally I find it appealing, apart for sports game that u play multiple times, u get to play over 30 games for just $30 a year, and not to forget they add some games to it once in a while but if not say EA head no dey there again, I for like use this kind plan play their future games too
