A friends mum got her visa late last year and she was wheeled into the embassy here in Lagos, virgin passport, no prior travel history

One cant truly predict the VO

The chances of an un-medically fit 68 years old getting a US visa is very, very slim.

Except she/he is going to the US to get medical treatment and at which she/he has to show financial capabilities to foot the medical bills.

Good evening all. I have been a silent follower since last week. I applied for the b1/b2 Visa in March/April. Selected interview date of 7th May.
Fast forward to interview that. I entered the embassy followed up with the queue and all the processes. Before it got to my turn, I was already observing who got and who didn't while I was outside on queue, I can tell most people didn't pull through,.. I Overhead a young girl of about 8 asking her dad, are you still angry they didn't give us? The mum laughed it off while the dad told her "You won't understand".
Long story short, I went into the interview hall and questions and answers was popping of from VOs and Applicants. In my presence only Windows 8 gave a white people. The couple in front of me were already being quizzed by the lady in window 6. She has rounded off like 3 persons in my presence, all blue.
The couple too didn't make it,... Ah �.

VO: hello
Me: good morning (handed my passport over to her).
VO: Have you travelled before to US?
Me: No
VO: why are you going Texas?
Me: to attend a Convention by xyz union/organization... The Convention is on xyz....
VO: Do you have anybody in the US, where do you plan to stay during your visit?
Me: No I don't. I ve made plans to stay in a Hotel "Comfort.... Located at xyz,.. Same venue with the convention.
VO: Are you married?
Me: No, I am engaged..... (She didn't even wait for me to finish the statement)...
VO: (Reaches for the paper (blue �) Sorry...... Bla bla bla.... I didnt even care to listen again.

Status: *Denied*


I guess I lost out on Travel history and family ties.

Thank you. i just did. it just says Application recieved as at 1st of Apr. no other update. i guess i just have to wait then. Hopefully it is ready before the travel date i stated which is in 2nd week of june. if not. hope they wont refuse me because the travel date has passed.

My Guys, good evening. i have a 221G follow up interview for next month which i scheduled for myself and mom. the cgi profile is in her name while i am a family dependent. On going through the appointment confirmation, i noticed that the number of applicants is 1 and only her name and visa fee is showing. Nothing pertaining to my own fee. Should i be worried?

Did you tracked it through the Ceac site? and it does not take 6-8 weeks it all depend on each individual case, my big bro dropbox I did 3 weeks ago was issued on monday last week (3 weeks duration)

No need for argument on the duration of the dropbox visa renewal. At this moment things are different. Your brothers case must be 1 in 50. I know people with same issue of 6 to 8 weeks. The DHL staff told me on the day of submission I should have in mind a maximum of 6 weeks.Then yesterday i was told its now 6 to 8 weeks.
Yes I have tracked it. It was last updated on 19th March and has been giving me same message since then. Clearly its not ready.

Is there anywhere in that form where she's asked her husband's earnings? I doubt.... It is never a good idea for an adult to be sponsored on a vacation trip by someone outside of immediate family, except for few exceptions which I doubt this one qualifies for, maybe you could throw some light here.

I feel her chances of getting the visa is slim. If you already have a booked appointment, you won’t be able to change the information on the DS-160. Also, I’m of the opinion that using your husbands boss to sponsor you doesn’t sound logical because you have no ties to his boss. You’re also going on a vacation that can’t be afforded by either you or your husband but his boss. There are too many red flags to this story. Are you actually in full employment at the moment? You need to be sure your ties to Nigeria is solid because if you can’t convince us on Nairaland, then how do you want convince the VO?

She can change whatever by filling another form and updating her profile with the new form's number, yes.... But that they asked for her husband's earning can not be correct, except we are not talking of a DS160 form here? Well, maybe there's a new update on the form sha, lately....

You know there's nothing like that in the form, the question was asked specifically during the previous interview and I'm guessing the form was filled by agent, reason they thought the question was in the form.

Genuinely, dunno. Haven't read or seen this particular type before.... I however believe strongly that you call their customer service line early enough to clear up grey areas!

Please clarify as your questions are abit confusing and might make things difficult for her.she should stick to her husband, state his salary too.

No Bro I do not have m own personal cgi page. Since its my mom sponsoring the trip and I'm a dependent on her and we travel together. First renewal, no issues. Second renewal landed us in 221g.

Hmmm. Na wa. We wait then...What happens when it doesn’t come out before the date u filled to travel? Will they still issue u the visa?
