what has the war that ended more than fifty years ago far before the o.p was born got to do with a town where people stop to refresh in 2019.can't you buttress your point without attachments of a war that is a sad part of Nigeria's history to your write up.Remember that a much bigger war is playing out in the north east which is greater than the Nigerian civil war of the 60s. Make your points without reminding people of their lost ones in a war that led to the loss of many innocent people. |

how can biafra soldiers win the war when they have no supply of food and weapon? That animal call Ojukwu is wicked, he will not rest in peace for all the innocent life he wasted. How can u go into war without proper planning? 3 Likes |

Babatundecash:Because after being defensive against an army hell bent on finishing you, you vex and get offensive after a while. You really need to read the history books, you will just realise that you will do the same thing Ojukwu did. The man never wanted a war. He and gowon went to Aburi in Ghana where the Aburi peace accord was signed. He believed there was peace and room for further discussions. The next few days later, he received news that Nigerian soldiers had started advancing against the biafra region from north central and South west. Gowon had let himself to be influenced by the northern officers and traditional rulers. It wasn't what they discussed but the man had to mobilise and defend a fight with an army he barely had time to put together. I can forward you some extracts 1 Like 1 Share |

What has Biafra and Ojukwu got to do with this tale? |
Re: Ore: From Theatre Of War To Industrial Hub by MorufuAtanda: 7:58am On May 09, 2019 |
There was no serious war in Ore. Col. Banjo our Yoruba brother who was the leader of Biafra army enroute to Lagos simply cut a deal with Awolowo on reaching Ore and went back to deliver Ojukwu's head. See the way you even Deliberately omitted banjo's name. The shameless revisionism is too much. We Yoruba should stop twisting history. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Babatundecash:Lagos was the capital of Nigeria then. Back then, and even now, once you capture a country's capital, and take over the seat of their power, you have won the war, the country will surrender and demand for peace or negotiation to end the war and agree to your terms. Ojukwu knew Biafra was not prepared for war, so when Gowon the then Head of State of Nigeria declared war on Biafra in what he called Police Action to return Biafra back to Nigeria after Ojukwu declared that Eastern Nigeria is now on their own and to be known as Biafra, Ojukwu moved all Biafran brave soldiers and commandos towards Lagos, with the intention of capturing Lagos so Gowon could run away and demand for seize fire and allow Biafra to go. So Ojukwu's intention to capture Lagos was to end the war fast before Nigerian foreign allies (Britain, Egypt, etc) came on board and used air raids, superior firepower and heavy air bombardment and military backup to dislodge Biafran soldiers from capturing Lagos. Biafran soldiers were already to Sagamu when they stopped advancing towards Lagos when the Biafran Military commander instructed them to stop advancement until further instruction, which gave Nigerian army time to regroup and confront Biafran soldiers and pushed them back to Ore. It was never meant to take over Southwest, but to end the war fast and save Biafra the load of engaging in a long civil war without a former national army or economy structure. Hope u understand better now 3 Likes 1 Share |

Lol...Igbos have always been a funny set of humans with victim mentality ingrained in their oldest to the youngest. How can you take your war to Yoruba backyard and still be angry and insulting the Yorubas for their intervention that led to the end of the war. I have said it before, anybody that is trying so hard to please an Igbo man is doing that at the expense of his own life. 3 Likes |

Babatundecash: Babatunde my dear Yoruba Muslim brother, why did your skull decide to forget Col. Banjo's name as the leader of the Biafran army at Ore enroute to Lagos. Is it because Banjo is our Yoruba brother? 1 Like |

Babatundecash:In those days, if you could capture the capital (Lagos) it is as good as the war is over! It wasn't particularly a wise move but that was the thinking then! |

MorufuAtanda:Lol.... This Igbo man again. Ojukwu eventually killed Banjo after all his sacrifice in other to please him (Ojukwu) and the Igbos. The same fate may befall anyone like Banjo. An average Igbo man can not be pleased until you die for him. 3 Likes |
