The next big development in the Egyptian UAV world would be the adoption and licensed build of the Chinese ASN-209 in 2011. This is when the Egyptians started taking drones seriously and marked the entry of China as the major supplier of UAVs to the country. 1 Like

Continued use and fleet growth may eventually result in doctrinal developments but unsurpassable challenges may remain if Egypt continues to rely on Chinese suppliers/can not lift western restrictions. Anyone want something like this in more detailed article form?

Fynline: Putting such large fire power in one spot is why a base get over runned. I have never had a MRAP or IFV on my unit and I can guarantee you that my boys and I will swoop on a unit that large with my armored hilux. Add GLs and RPG. I can hear someone asking them not to shoot anyhow. Suppressive fire is needed yes but do it with wisdom. Packing several IFV / MRAP meters away from each other is just like a sitting duck. 5 Likes |

allexpensive:You're not correct Sir. The soldiers were not sitting with armour at a place. If you watch the video again, you'll see that the Reva MRAP was leading 2 Softskin vehicles out. Perhaps the clearest was the soldier in black gesturing to the driver of the first BTR-3 to move out. You can clearly see him frantically asking the drivers of the BTRs to move out. The 3rd is a soldier in the background. He was shouting "Dey follow, Dey follow". Make all of the guys wey dey inside vehicles dey move out. Intact this was a very well coordinated action by the troops of the Nigerian army. Kudos to them. The Ara MRAP, a BTR-4E and 5 Soft-Skin vehicles were providing cover fire, while 3 BTRs, a Reva MRAP and the rest of the soft-skin vehicles all moved out. 2 Likes |

SLBMS:Is the complaint not valid. You too should always play by the rule. The only issue you have is that u just type as you like, 4getting or not knwing or hiding behind the freedom of (i have the right to type watever i like) which makes you 4get that there is rule guiding this thread. The thread says Battlefield discussions (pics/video) of African military. But the content you posted is not related to that, if you wanted to post foreign military pic, there is a thread for that or you can create a new thread. Who knws maybe we might all join you there 1 Like |

QuietMynd: Hiding behind what freedom? ..and what do you mean typr as you like? Cmon relax dude, it was just a picture. it's ok sorry. No big deal let it slide. But to be frank its getting really hard making comments without first censoring yourself for fear of retribution. It used to be fun, now you get mad when someone post what you don't like. |

Fynline:Lol. The vehicles seem to be coming out of somewhere, maybe barracks, but The bane of the Nigerian army, they seem to be rudderless, no organisation, heard two or more people given different order. |

[quote author=LTGEN post=78259676] This is the first time I am seeing 3 BTRs. I thought they (NA) only had 4. The Instagram video is too short though to form an objective opinion Also they are all just coming out of a barracks.[/quoe] The usefulness of constant RE training and drills, so everyone knows what to do in a given situation, I think NA is just full of brawns and little critical thinkers, one of the reasons this war is still dragging, you are under attack and your vehicles are bogged down in a choke point. |
