chrisooblog: How can you accuse me of being emotional and rude when it's written all over your post? Remove the beam in your eyes before you do that for others. How many players currently in the national team have won the best player award in their leagues before they got into the National team? Did Etebo win the best player in Nigeria league before he made his debut for the national team? Did Alex Iwobi win the best player in Arsenal academy before he made his debut for the national team? Did Shehu win the best player in the Kuwait league before he made his debut for the national team? Did Wilfred Ndidi win the best player in Belgium before he made his debut for the national team? Why must Abdul Ajagun win the best player before he is called into the National team despite the fact that these aforementioned players didn't achieve half of what he achieved in the Nigerian league and with Panathinaikos in the Greek league before they even made their debut for the 'national' team? But all these made their debut either from the same Nigerian league, academy, Kuwait league and Belgium league. Are these league better than the Greece league that produced the Greece National team that reached the Europe 2012 quarter finals as at that time? Why raise the bar for some players and lower the bar for some players in the supposed 'National' team? Is this not another emotive and subjective reasoning? I smell double standard. Isn't it? Why won't I mention Awaziem? Is he not a Nigerian? We should compare both performance in the Ligue 1 because they both played there at the same age (21). Tiago Ilori outperformed Awaziem in the same Ligue 1 despite the fact that they were both the same age as at the time they played there. Fact How come you claimed Tiago Ilori flopped in Ligue 1 but still commended Awaziem who didn't have a better stats than Tiago Ilori in the same Ligue 1? This is Nigeria where sentiments has beclouded people's sense of reasoning. They only praise their own and try to put down others just to feel good. If you have problem with whoscored, why don't you create your own double standard siu measurement? For a 20 years old boy who went to la Liga during the summer transfer with just 18 matches left and still went ahead to start to finish in 9 matches with a MOTM against almighty Barcelona confirmed he was successful in La Liga. Despite the 9 games, his stats is better than Omeruo. Anyway, according to you, la Liga is better than EPL. Isn't it? See Tiago Ilori made la Liga team of the week too. How come you took notice of Omeruo but couldn't do the same for Tiago Ilori? Wonders shall never end. I smell double standard. Ebuehi was outstanding in the Eredivise league and that was why Benfica bought. Hmmm! So, why did Liverpool buy Tiago Ilori? Why did Sporting Lisbon buy back Tiago Ilori? Who told you Ilori didn't get game time when he was fit in Ligue 1 and la Liga where he won motm and even made the team of the league? Who told Tiago Ilori didn't get game time when he was fit in the Championship? Person wey play in the Championship play off final self. Who told you Tiago Ilori only played 4 games this season? Somebody wey play against Manchester United and Watford in the FA cup and EFL cup. He even played in the Europa League against Villarreal self but you claimed he only had 4 games. How truthful are you? How can I take you seriously for your last two paragraphs? My friend, get hold of yourself before sentiments blind your eyes. 1 Like

chrisooblog: You are the hypocrite here. You want to sell Ajagun and Tiago as average but after showing you facts you still can't hide your face in shame and agree you are wrong. Facts don't lie but your support for average players to be called into the National team portrays you as one who is bias and highly sentimental. Who are the reasonable people? Your post shows you can't reason left alone to be reasonable. Imagine acussing me of not calling for Samuel Kalu and Paul Onuacha! Why should I clamour for Samuel Kalu when we had Victor Moses and Alex Iwobi playing in the premier League with Chelsea and Arsenal as at that time? As at the time Samuel Kalu was doing well in the Belgium league many players who played the same wing with him were still doing better than him in better leagues and even in the same Belgium league. Yes! Even Peter Olayinka was ahead of him not to talk of Onyekuru and Simon Moses. He was down the pecking order. That's it. No reasonable person will clamour for Samuel Kalu who was down the pecking order except you. The same fate befell Paul Onuacha. Many players who were playing in the same position were doing better than Paul Onuacha in better leagues as at the time he did well. He was down the pecking order even below Kayode Olanrewaju. Why should any reasonable person clamour for Paul? Except the person lacks sense of reasoning he can even think about that. The point remains that, Abdul Ajagun was doing better than Etebo, Shehu, etc who were playing the same position as at the time they were invited ahead of him into the 'National' team. The point remains that Tiago Ilori did better than both Awaziem and Omeruo statistical in both the la Liga and Ligue 1, but as that time I clamoured for him, some mischievous people said he wasn't good enough. Why turn around and praise Awaziem and Omeruo who were below him statistically speaking in the same leagues? How can that not be reasonable enough for you not to understand or decipher? Who is one of those clamouring for Chukwueze to play in the AFCON when most wants him to play for the U-20 only? Who? I ask again, who? We are not the same and can never be the same when it comes to having a sane judgement. I am far ahead of you in this regard else show me where you ever made a sane prediction and it can to past. Show me. Try to have an objective reason for once. My friend, have a lovely day. 1 Like |

Ighalo feared outta the AFCON after being stretchered off in his team's 1all draw in the lowly CSL. This could be a blessing in disguise and should never be considered a loss if he eventually misses the Afcon, since he is reputed for fluffing his lines always. |

sheyishemba: Exactly! As at that time is what we speak about and he was clearly better than those in the national team then. Now that Sporting Lisbon bought him back, we should just wait and see what becomes of him. I don't know to be bought by Sporting Lisbon tantamounts to having regression. Some people sense of reasoning is very shallow. |

forgiveness: Stop with the sense of reasoning being shallow bro. People have a right to their own opinion. I think several factors restricted the callup of Tiago Ilori especially the time he broke into the Sporting Lisbon team in his teens. He was seen as a top promising talent. Some touted the idea he would captain the Portuguese side. I think he even at some point captained the Sporting Lisbon team. Loyalty: I doubt he was ever loyal to the GWG Jersey. He never expressed the idea of representing us. Unless it would have required the NFF going to him and convincing (begging) him to develop passion to play for us. Injuries: Injuries kept the bright talent for having a healthy run of games and he did not stay in the spotlight consistently to beam the light of availability for him. Bench: On repeated occasions, Ilori found himself out of favor with managers, thus reducing his growth. However, if some kind of good spotlight fell on Ilori, I think he would have continued his love affair with the Portuguese. I think his loyalty was his biggest draw back. But, it would have been a steal if we had tried to use the National team to expose his talent which might have worked. I have always believed the National team should not only be about receiving but giving. In the end, Tiago Ilori's loyalty was never with us for our coaches to be criticised for not reaching out to him. Especially, being a lower choice if things did not work out for him. However, if things worked out, Portugal would have been his only choice. 8 Likes 1 Share |

thegoodjoehunt3: Why didn't these same factors restrict Jordan Torunarigha, Kevin Akpoguma and Felix Uduokhai from getting chased by the same coach and NFF as soon as they brook into the Bundesliga? What about the one that ssid we rolled red carpet for him? Are they loyal to the GWG? Did they ever expressed the idea of playing for Nigeria as at the time the NFF and the coaching crew pursued after them? And they still keep begging them to play for us till this day(I am firmly in support and wish the same gesture is extended to all Nigerians FB). Why should Tiago Ilori's case be different despite having a better stats than these players when each made their debut in the top 5 leagues in Europe? Tiago still had a better stats afterwards, even in the Ligue 1. Why has he not been given a hot chase the same way these are chased till date eventhough they snubbed them several times? Tiago Ilori stayed in the spotlight for 3 straight seasons in the Portuguese league, LA Liga and Ligue 1. Do you mean that was not consistent enough to beam the light of availablity for him to atleast be approached? Tiago Ilori didn't find himself out of favour with the managers he played for in the Portuguese league, la Liga and Ligue 1 which spanned for 3 good seasons despite these he was never approached but all these aforementioned had just one season in Bundesliga and the phone kept ringing. Now that we know these German Nigerian born players loyalty are not with us but still get chased by the coach and NFF, is not enough to criticize them?

bazooka1:Ok I get your point now, so you are trying to compare the work Guardiola has done at Man city and the one Klopp has done at Liverpool. Well you can't really compare them as per league standing because while Guardiola met a team which was already at the top(at least when it's comes to English football) so there was little room for improvement as per league standing but Klopp met a struggling side( forget their one season wonder) so he had alot of room for improvement as per league standing which he has, credit to him. To access Guardiola's Man City , check other aspects. They shattered and made new record last season in the premier league and they did it playing an amazing and simply beautiful style of football. Give credit to him and not the finances because I can count many managers that were given money yet failed woefully. And you are making it sound like he got every single player he wanted 1 Like |

Trust me he has no interest in Nigeria. This boy was born in England to a British father of Nigerian descent and a Portuguese mother... played for Portugal youth team and toasted by England... His has the ability to play that role well...energy,pace,skill,good work rate.. and he can create goal scoring chances too.. Play Musa as a false9 with Onyekuru(an inverted winger) on the left and Chukwueze(a left footed RW) on the right and u will see goals flowing!! Are you his father, mother or brother to tell us that he is interested in playing for us? Not everybody asslick foreign born players like u do here... At least Udohaki and Tonnoarugha have indicated that they are still open to playing for Nigeria.. to the best of my knowledge, then NFF hasn't bought a home for their scouts to be begging Udohaki and Tonnouarigha everyday... And finally, why do u think it is the responsibility of the NFF to be approaching every foreign born Nigerian player? If we are to count the foreign born Nigerian footballers out there, they could be up to a thousand! A few hundred of them could be playing at professional level .how would ghr NFF approach all of them? How would the NFF position it's scouts to identify all of them? Shouldn't these players speak out too so we should notice them? Has Tiago ever spoken about Nigeria? 3 Likes 1 Share |
