Seniors please I need your guidance. I have N500k that has been sitting in a bank that I want to invest. I've read through the thread not all the pages though. My questions are:
1. Can I start with N500k or must it be N1m
2. Which bank or investment house is the best to go with
3. When is the best time for me to register
4. I've also been reading up Mutual Funds don't know between Tbilis and mutual funds which is better and which I can go for with N500k.

Thanks for helping out.
1. yes you can start with N500k
2. IBTC or FBN (my opinion)
3. for primary auction within the week of deal date. That means you can do so before 16th May for next primary auction
4. Mutual fund and Tbills are actually same in principle. in mutual funds, you are pulling funds together with other investors through fund managers to buy TBills.

Good evening house, I recently got my Permanent residency to Canada and I will be travelling in few days time. I have been investing in Tbills for sometime now. I intend to convert some of my money to dollar and put in my dormicillary account so I can withdraw with my dollar card when I get there while I leave the rest in my Nigerian account.

Please how can I invest from abroad while I am away, I currently invest in Tbills with Stanbic. I visited the bank the other day and they spoke about an indemnity stuffs, that will allow me give them an instruction to invest in my behalf. Pls is there a disadvantage to signing this document? I really would like to invest the money in Tbills instead of just leaving it in the account cos the fund is quite alot. Thanks

No worries with the indemnity. It just means that they can take instructions from you via your registered email without worrying. I use it myself and I'm resident in Lagos. Just ensure your email is secure always.

Also confirm that you cannot book NTB via your internet banking platform. GTBank has this feature

Alternatively, you can give me the money to invest on your behalf grin grin grin wink wink wink. I promise not to jaaapaa with your money cheesy. Cross my heart and hope to kpai

Am new to Tbills. But I would advise you check First bank because the form I filled had questions like, do you want your Tbills to be rolled over upon maturity or something like that. Do you want to invest your interest with the principal etc.. Just do your diligent research sha grin

You @ me so I guess you want me to drop my opinion. I have lots of treasury bills running with GT Bank, and I'm doing another next week. I have never walked into a bank to do tbills. In my opinion, you have nothing to worry about in terms of safety and security of your money. Just don't fall for scam emails and you will be good

put that 500k in 1year Tbills
Then put the interest (~60k) in money market fund if
You may not need it in the next 30 days

When you reach 1 million, you can invest all in Tbills

Thanks bro, Alberta is the choice.

After signing the form, will you just send an email to them to invest in Tbills on your behalf or do you still have to fill the Tbill form like we do whenever we walk into the bank?

Oh wow! Thanks. I may need the money before a year so am looking at a 6months investment and then take it from there. Can I do N500k Tbills for 6months and what will be the likely yield? Which Bank or Investment house will you advise? Thank you.

You guys should stop asking about liquidation of t-bills before maturity. It is always complicated to liquidate t-bills in all the banks, investors are always advised to invest short term duration or the funds they can afford to invest and wait till maturity. You are only giving your bank a clear priviledge to unfairly profit from you if you decide to liquidate your t-bills before maturity.

Am a newbie to all if this but below is the explanation I got from a friend who is into both Tbills and Money Market.

Money Market fund is a Mutual Fund pool managed by banks. They use the money to invest in different things like Tbills, Shares etc. Rate of return fluctuates and you get your interest at the end of the fixed period whereas Tbills is strictly Fed Govt, risk free, interest is paid upfront and interest rate us determined by the Federal Govt. That's a simple summary.

Be specific with your question. What exactly do you want to know, were are your gray areas.
Don't ask a generic question if you want an answer.

This is the first time i will be experiencing this. Anyone with a valuable answer will be much appreciated. Cheers!

Yes, but remember to go and instruct them to do that as soon as you can before the auction/settlement day.
