shiffynaani:The guy you quoted has been inactive since 2019. Let me lend a hand; ***** 1) First you start with Excel, then you start learning Python with its libraries (numpy, pandas, matplotlib), thereafter learn SQL and later on, you move over to PowerBI for data visualisation. There are a lot of articles and learning materials on the internet. - You can check out courses at Udemy.com - You can also apply at w3schools.com - There are also a lot of YouTube channels that could assist too. For example, check out freecodecamp on YouTube. For Excel, you can go to YouTube and search “E-DAB”, you should see the playlist under “Excelisfun” channel. Just use the internet, do some research and gather as much knowledge as possible. There are tons of PDFs, articles and videos that could help. Even online schools. 2) Yes. Most data scientists multi-task. Freelancing and work. You could earn more that way. 3) Actually, this depends on you. You can still learn it either way. As long as you are dedicated and focused, with constant practice. ***** GL. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Looks as if c++ is useless. Lol Only thing being mentioned is web development and security and some strange languages. My question, is it that someone who knows one language like c++ cannot get a good job? Everything is boiling down to you must know almost all languages to be meaningful. Must of you guys have over 10 years of experience. |
Re: Dear Programmer In Nigeria: How Much Is Your Salary? by tensazangetsu20(m): 10:42pm On Jun 23, 2020 |
Rockyfancino:C++ is far from useless. It's the language used mostly in embedded systems programming and game development. There was a job from zf Sachs posted on Glassdoor days back. It comes with visa sponsorship to Japan. The only language requirement was C++. C++ is even more valuable that most of the languages being mentioned here. 3 Likes 1 Share |

toystars: Wow, 2 years now. Yes, there are many shitty programmers but Nigerian companies hardly give them a shot. In Germany, they can employ you as a junior and give you 6 months to learn and pick up. Nigerian dev companies are wicked, they demand 5yrs of experience for junior developer roles, they give you advanced stuff at the interview whilst the proposed salary isn't up to 150k. I would advise any developer shitty or not to move out of Nigeria once they get hold of the basic concepts. No electricity, expensive data for research but they want superhumans. Haba. 8 Likes |
Re: Dear Programmer In Nigeria: How Much Is Your Salary? by tensazangetsu20(m): 11:20pm On Jul 13, 2020 |
ProfAmaben:Demanding years of experience for junior developer roles is global. The founder of fastAPI even said so. He saw a job requiring 4 years of that technology experience but he himself created it 1.5 years ago. People should treat job requirements as a wishlist. If 5 years of experience is required. Read it as we are very okay with 6 months of experience. Get to the interview and let them decide. Experience != Skill level. 3 Likes 1 Share

I work as a fullstack software engineer where i managed both the frontend and the backend aspect of the web application. I get paid $2,500 monthly due to the fact i am working remotely. tensazangetsu20: Hahaha, I get it now. Anyway, programmers shouldn't give up no matter what. Landed my first gig after 6 interviews, it's all good now. Any programmer that doesn't practice for a minimum of 4hrs daily, should kindly reevaluate his career path. 5 Likes 1 Share |

thenaijacoder: Hey man! Congrats! But how do you receive your money? If the rate is around N380 per Dollar then I'll advice you to open a domiciliary account with your favorite bank. With this, the money will get paid directly to your account in Nigeria. Bank rates are around N400 to N450 per Dollar. Goodluck man! |

thenaijacoder:can you link me to your work place? even $1000 per month is enough for me, I need the remote experience on my CV, I know a recommendation from an inside person would go a long way, I have applied for a lot but it's not forth coming. |
Re: Dear Programmer In Nigeria: How Much Is Your Salary? by tensazangetsu20(m): 2:06pm On Jul 15, 2020 |
vheckthor1:Bros it doesn't work that way in the tech industry. He himself can lose his job for recommending you. If you are applying to a lot of jobs and you aren't even getting interviews, check yourself. There's something you aren't doing right. |
