So you mean Ashley Young, a world cup semi fanalist left/wing back is not capable?

Abeg, ditch that semi finalist yarn, England had an easy route and collapsed at the first solid opposition.

elampiro:

Man, the position was his having helped us to dominate teams there and helped England there too. His injury meant he was not called and then the hype with the untested new man. hey hey hey grin grin grin

I need to know why he was not hyped when he played for the country.

elampiro:
This was same Young who helped Van Gaal to assassinate Liverpool, City, Spurs, etc from that position and he was being called new Ronaldo by some playful United fans. He carried on, although with a little less productivity, until his performance from there last year won him England call up after many years. He didnt just make up the numbers, but played there for England up to semi final of the world cup.

Young was called new Ronaldo...Lord have mercy on us for we have sinned.

All these talk has hinged on semi-final bla bla, which I've clearly trashed out by them having an easy route to the semis.

I'm not even ready to start arguing all over again about how their route was easy abeg, it's all on the thread pages which were posted during the competition and a little bit after it.

What should he do when Lukaku runs around for ten minutes and starts panting like he just ran a marathon? Should OGS run into the pitch and inject him with steroids?

Did you not notice how Klopp fazed out players like Lallana and Co to bring in guys like Mane that can keep up the level of pressure he wants?

Btw, these players have been coached for almost three years on defensive tactics, and you suddenly want them to switch to attacking tactics asap.. It just won't work. There were concerns here and even arguments about fatigue bla bla bla during the winning streak, and how it will weigh on them eventually. Well, here it is.

You know the funniest thing is that the same excuse you are using for OGS would actually be made for Mou. Mou came second in the league with these same squad bar Fred, No?

At the bolded, I think I have debunked that severally already. Apart from the big games against top 6 opponents, We do not park the bus during Mou’s time so that actually doesn’t hold water.

I remember when we were arguing about players not good enough under Mou and someone was telling why our players can’t score, pass to their teammates successfully and the likes and he was asking me what Mou was teaching them in training. It is the job of the manager to improve his players, motivate them and get the best out of them. Lukaku has actually played less game under OGS so that excuse doesn’t hold.

Maybe you are watching another team but we are still doing “defensive tactics” as you called it.

First of all, today's match was insignificant. Which is clearly why guys like Greenwood were allowed to play all through.

Secondly, it had already been mathematically confirmed that we were not going for UCL ahead of today's match, so it's quite surprising that you guys are wailing about it. Even if Cardiff was beaten 6-0, it won't change you or the chemical guy's opinion about OGS, neither will it push the team into top four. You guys will probably have said something like 'na small team'

Thirdly, the coaches you look up to have had a squad overhaul within their time at the club. Check Liverpool's squad before Klopp and now. Man City's squad before Pep and now. Tottenham squad before Poch and now.
OGS hasn't stayed up to 5 months!
Do you really think Poch will do magic with this squad? He will obviously need to rebuild his squad before criticism starts flowing in ffs.

So, those that believe OGS should be given time are not sensible, right? Good.

Your first point dey useless. The final match of the season is what you call useless. We won't be seeing United play in the next 2-3 months so that particular match is special to fans.

And how does that your 2nd point change the fact that it's disgusting United were beaten 2-0 at Old Trafford. United weren't fighting for top 4 or anything, Cardiff also were not fighting for anything as they've relegated already. That your 2nd point even dey annoying sef. How person go waste time and money to watch United's final match of the season and it'd end in a disgrace like that.

And I'm not criticizing Ole majorly because of his performances in the past few matches. I'm criticizing Ole because I don't think he can build the United we deserve. I've said this so many times. Will you comfortably trust a rookie over many years like you'd trust a klopp/Poch.
I even agree with those calling for Ole's head based on the last 10 or so games we played. If the board can be so stupid to hire Ole based on a winning run in 14 matches then the fans can call for his head based on the disastrous run lately.

It's just crazy!

Even the Poch that currently got into UCL finals did it because of Lucas Moura... he made that clear in his interview.

Not to mention Ziyech who had luck against him in the ending stages of the match.

Bro what the heck is wrong with you?

You want to really downplay Pochetinho's achievement and you look so stupid doing it.

Saying they got to the finals because of Lucas Moura SMH. Na Pochetinho suppose enter field play the ball inside net na. To even think that you mentioned Ziyech having bad luck, chaii. I dey even Bleep up by replying this nonsense.

Which Tottenham fan before Poch came into the club could have dreamt of playing in the UCL finals?

Abeg what tactics did Poch and Spurs even play against Ajax? Was it tiki-taka, kati-kati, possesion based football, ghen ghen high press or park the bus?

What's that one style of play that makes Spurs stand out like City's tiki-taka or Liverpool's high press?

But OGS must put his own tactics and style of play on placard and raise it above his head every matchday in the dugout.
I think Ajax v Tottenham is the first spurs match you'll watch this season, if not, you won't be saying this nonsense.
Tottenham has a particular tactic they play but had to change it when Poch saw it wasn't working as it made their midfielders look slow.
It's just like Pep that everyone knows has a particular set of tactics but had to play pragmatic football against Liverpool in December.

After Tottenham finished 2nd on the table 2 or 3 years ago, signings should have been made to make it possible to contend for the title the following season . But the stupid chairman made no reasonable signing. But he's still found a way to keep them as a top team. And some people all because of one mumu blind support for Ole decides to disrespect Pochetinho.
Your favorite manager can't do what Pochetinho has done at Spurs.

Ok. What is it? What is this style of play? Explain to us this unique way that Poch sets up his team to play that OGS doesn't. But no. Una no fit tell us.

It's just funny. Ajax were having the time of their lives on that pitch, playing beautiful football. It was like watching an S.S.3 team who knew how to play football.
Spurs obviously had to switch from whatever tactics Poch used, it was clear they were on their way out. The tactics changed to any way na way grin
Ajax wanted to kill them dat day. Trippier or whoever was playing RB wanted to die

We should be thanking God that our Players could not hide their averageness and lazyness until the beginning of next Season.

At least we've got to know their Limits. Everyone has seen their true Pictures..... They are simply bunch of over-pampered Twats.

I still stand by OGS, cos it will be unfair to judge him now. Let's wait and see what's under sleeves. What he's capable of. How he's planning to turn around the lazy mentality of our Players.

Btw..... 25mins of Gomez is far better than Perreira's 65mins on the Pitch yesterday.

Don't be silly. You never asked me what his tactics was. And if you did, I didn't see it. This is not whatsapp. You can't expect me to see every message you direct at me.
As for those of you asking what Pochetino's tactics are, I'm sure you expect me to say either tikitaka or Defensive football. Like these are the only tactics available in football. That is why you keep asking me what tactics he plays. If not, then you don't watch Spurs at all.
Number one, Pochetinho has an attacking philosophy. Whenever they are in possesion, only 3 players are excused from not joining the attack and that is the 2 centre backs and the defensive midfielder. And another thing is that the attacking players are not constrained to a particular position. They intertwine continuously whenever in attack thereby creating options everytime.
Whenever they are not with the ball they press for the ball continuously until things are in their favor. Something similar to what Ole says his tactics are.
If you asked me to simplify his tactics, I'd say he plays possession football.

You have not seen United play like this under Ole in the first 10-20 minutes, then they become tired and can't keep up? You have not watched these team hassle for ball deep in the opponent half under Ole?

Since Ole joined, Shaw has had about 3-4 assists, but the full backs doesn't join the attack right?

Now you say its something similar to Ole tactics and you think Poch will come and make a majority of these players better? Someone that at a time he was among the title contenders only for him to finish over 20 points behind the league leaders with a team that has far more better defenders, midfielders and attackers. Someone that his team had to abandon his tactics to get into the final of the Champions League?

You are very silly

My argument about Shaw in the beginning of the season were:

1. Our left side is our most important attacking outlet.

2. Shaw didnt appear to have attacking flair and his forward passing with one foot is weak.

3. Young has been our number one in that position and we remained very dangerous from there right from time of Van Gaal, and continued unto Mourinho. He was set to continue this seaon but injury prevented him. His ability to cut behind the defence line or cut back and pull out to far post for where Fellaini or Lukaku will be waiting was a big bonus. His crossing from the left is better than from the right. Even from his Villa days.

4. I would have taken Blind over Shaw based on their past attacking flair comparison.

This was where the argument began, and some wanted to rate Young with one or two games in that position where he had not played there whole season. This was same Young who was the only defender who pocketed Salah last season.
and Shaw didn't pocket salah home and away this season

Relegated defenders pocketed Salah this season. It was his off season until latter stages. Last season, only Young pocketed him and took him hom in the whole of Europe. Salah was the most deadly attacking player in the whole wide world last season (bar Ronaldo the most deadly scorer).

Shaw came to our left side which is the best attacking side of the team and we failed in everything we participated in. I remember warning that Shaw will make Martial useless. grin grin grin

Shaw has only one route to attack and so predictable. That makes it hard for Martial.
