Shortcomings is a book about Chike Daniels,a young rich and handsome man trying to figure out why his life is so complicated and also trying to find love. After so many attempts he finally gave up on love until he met Orisunayo a young tailor in her late twenties who is trying to put her life back together.

Will he give love a chance especially when Mimisola his ex is trying everything to win back his heart and when he finds out that Orisunayo isn't who she told him she is.

The girls hostel as the ladies often called it,is a three bedroom flat rented by six friends:Lizzy, Mimisola, Damilola, Omotola, Chidinma and Inumidun.

They had been friends since their university days and even till date.
"You're kidding right"Inumidun asked,
" No"Damilola replied,
"Seriously" Chidinma asked,
"So you guys didn't" She added,
"We didn't I can't allow one yeye guy to kill me" Damilola said,
"See you one man's food is another man's poison" Inumidun said,
"I wish I was the one that met the guy, Alhaji is good for nothing"she added,
"At least he dey give you money"Chidinma said,
"So it is true that all those men with big bellies na flash drive dick they get"Damilola asked,
"I swear" Inumidun said,
"But abegi,you go give me his number that guy must hammer me oooo" She added leading to an outburst of laughter.

Well you just met Chidinma, Damilola and Inumidun,they are in their early twenties and they are all graduates.
Unable to find a job that will fit their lifestyle they decided to be hustlers,they were into the sugar daddy stuffs.

Lizzy walked in and joined the girls,
"Washerwoman,una welcome" Chidinma said,
"I don't like it" Lizzy replied,
"Ah ah,no be clothes you dey wash" Damilola asked,
"You're early today,is everything alright" Inumidun asked,
"I'm a drycleaner and mind you my boss sacked me"Lizzy replied,
"why"Damilola asked,
"I don't know"Lizzy replied,
"So how are you going to survive now"Chidinma said,
"I'm thinking of turning the sitting room to a daycare"Lizzy replied
"Day kini"All the other girls chorused.

"For how long are we going to stand here ehn" Tola said,
"Babe,this is like the hundredth time you've asked" Mimisola said,
"That man is stingy" Tola whined,
"Just forget it" Mimi said,
"Ordinary transport fare he didn't give us"Tola said again.

Mimisola stared at her before diverting her attention to her mobile phone,
"hmmmm,who are you chatting with" Tola said,
"Dave,of course"She replied with a smile showing off her cute dimples.

A car suddenly stopped in front of the girls,
"Hi ladies"The guy driving said,
"Hi" Tolani said,
"Do you girls live around here or you're going somewhere"He asked,
"We're actually waiting for someone" Mimisola said,
"Oh" He said,
"Bros, abeg me I'm going to next street" Tolani said,
"Come in,let me give you a ride" He said,
Mimosola gave her a weird look,but instead Tolani entered the car leaving Mimi with option but to join her.

"Hmmmm,I'm Chile Daniels"The guy said after a while,before he looking at them,
"I'm Omotolani and she is my friend Mimisola"Tolani said,
"Ohhh Mimisola,Omotolani nice names" He said,
"Thank you"Tolani said,
"We'll drop at the next junction" She added,

He parked and the girls got out,
"Thank you"Tola said,
"My pleasure, can I have your number" He said,
"Mine"Tolani asked,
"Yeah,and Mimi's own too" He said,
"Don't worry about mine" Mimi said with her full attention still on her phone,
"Ohhh" He said.

Tolani and Chike exchanged contacts before he drove off,
"Why did you do that" Tolani asked,
"What"Mimi asked,
" You know"Tolani replied,
"For starters his flirting sucks" Mimi said,while Tolani laughed.

"For how long are we going to stand here"Tolani said to Mimisola who was busy with her phone,

Mimi stared at her before diverting her back attention to her mobile phone,
"Hmmmm,what are you doing sef"Tolani asked,
"Chatting"Mimi replied,
"With who"Tola asked,
"Dave of course"Mimi replied,
"In this hot sun,Na wa oooo" Tola said.

A car parked in front of the girls,the guy driving it looked like someone in his mid thirties,light,cute,handsome,
"Hi" The guy driving the car said,
"Hi" Tola replied,
"Do you girls live around here or you're going somewhere"He asked,
"We're actually waiting for someone"Mimi said,
"Ohhh"He said
"Bros abeg me I dey go the next junction"Tolani said,
"Get in,let me give you a ride"He said.

Mimisola gave Tolani a weird look but instead Tolani entered the car leaving Mimi with no other option but to join her,
"hmmmm,I'm Chike Daniels"The guy said before he looked at them,
"I'm Omotolani and She is Mimisola"Tola said,
"Hmmm Mimisola,Omotolani nice names" He said
"Thank you"Tola said,
"We'll drop at the next junction" She added.

He stopped at the junction and the girls got out,
"Thanks for the ride"Tolani said,
"My pleasure, can I have your number" He said glancing at Mimisola,
Referring to no one in particular,
"mine" Tola asked him,
"Yeah and Mimi's own too" He said,
"Don't bother about mine" Mimi said.

Tolani and Chike exchanged contacts before he drove off,
"What was that about" Tola asked as the girls started walking towards their house,
"What" Mimi asked,
"Your attitude" Tola replied,
"Well for starters his flirting sucks" Mimi said with her full attention still on her phone while Tola chuckled.

"My own problem na that their yeye cry,If I dey attend to customer and one yeye pikin dey use cry disturb us nko"Inumidun said,
"But we agreed that you girls won't bring men here again"Lizzy said,
"We're all paying rent remember" Damilola said,
"Eh,true ask washerwoman the last time she paid rent"Inumidun said,
"Girls this isn't right and you know that"Lizzy said,
"What is not right" Chidinma said,
"Must you girls be prostitutes,there are other clean jobs out their you know" Lizzy said,
"I no get wetin you dey talk,prostitutes abi wetin you talk" Chidinma said,
"Yes prostitutes" Lizzy answered,
"Excuse me we are not prostitutes, we be hustlers" Chidinma said,
"Yes ooo"Dami and Inumidun chorused,
"What is the difference anyways"Lizzy asked,
"We don't stand by the roadside at night, besides we all have one sugar daddy,that's all" Inumidun said,
"Yeah the difference is that you're sleeping with men,old enough to be your father"Lizzy said,
"So back to the question,how are you going to survive "Chidinma asked,
"Because we can't be paying your house rent and still be feeding you biko" She added
"And you can join our hustle oo" Inumidun said,
"Me" Lizzy asked,
"God forbid" She added before walking away.

"Inumidun" Damilola said,
"Just an advice oooo" Inumidun said.

Mimisola and Tolani walked in,
"Babes" Mimi said.

"When we were coming back from chief's house, we were waiting for cab around that elediye junction, when a car parked and the guy sha told us to come in young guy for that matter, cute light handsome and rich,he sha dropped us but I think he is interested in Mimi he even asked for her number"She added,
"Eh,our number ni ooo"Mimi said,
"How did you know that he is rich"Inumidun asked,
"Exactly"Mimi said,
"How,did you know"She added,
"Babes you need to see his car,very big the seat sef na leather"Tolani replied.

"I even thought it was one rich senator they saw"Chidinma said,
"This guy was staring at Mimi through out"Tolani said,
"Omotolani"Mimi said,

" Ah,even if he is interested in her,where will she put Dave"Inumidun said,

"Well Lizzy too wan turn sitting room to day care"Inumidun said,
"No way" Mimi said,
"We made that clear already,relax" Chidinma said.

"Mummy Tope,I'm sorry"Isunayo replied,
"I hate everything about this dress"Mummy Tope said,
"I'll try as much as possible to adjust it ma" Isunayo replied,
"Even the colour of the material is too dull"Mummy Tope whined again,
"Mummy Tope,I will personally work on it,and I promise you that when I'm done it'll be much better" Isunayo replied,
"Okay ooo"Mummy Tope said before she walked out of the shop.

Isunayo took the dress and stared at it for some seconds.

Where do I start from she thought in her before her Sister walked in,
"Big Sis,I can't believe you did that to me" She said angrily,
"Look,I'm sorry" Isunayo said,
"No,you're not,I mean I'm your baby sister for crying out loud and you decided to miss my introduction" She replied,
"Funmi,it wasn't intentional, I was so busy"Isunayo said,
"Oh,now your job is more important than I am?"Funmi question,
"Uhh,no silly" Isunayo said,
"I promise i'll make it up to you" She added,
"Well, you can start by making my wedding dress"Funmi said,
"And you can start by paying me first" Isunayo replied.

"In your dreams Sis"Funmi said,
"Let's go have lunch,I'm hungry" she added,
"Bills on you"Isunayo said.

The girls were seated in the sitting room,with their eyes glued on the TV Screen,except Mimisola who was busy with her phone,
"And done" She said,
"What happened"Tolani said,
"A date" Mimi replied,
"Wow" Tolani said
"Oshe baddest,Free lunch"Damilola said,
"Babe,na every time you dey get free things,are you sure that you no dey use juju" Chidinma said,
"Juju or no juju,sha don't forget me" Damilola said again,
"Hmmmm,onijekuje" Inumidun said,
"Abi na,na only you waka come" Chidinma added,

Mimisola let out a soft chuckle,she knows the kind of friends she has, and she knows that they are greedy.

"Well girls,we're all going" Mimisola said,
"Ehhh,Mimi for life"Damilola said,
"Hold on,I'm not getting something here,is it a group date or what"Lizzy asked,
"No be only group date na gang date,mumu" Chidinma said,
"Let her be jare,so are you in or not" Mimi asked,
"In ooo"They all chorused except Lizzy.

"This is madness"Lizzy said,
"In or not"Mimi asked her,
"Count me out" Lizzy said,
"Babe,no food for you ooo"Tolani said,
"I'll get food myself"Lizzy said,
"Time" Inumidun asked,
"1pm" Mimi said,
"It's 11:43 already, let's dress up" Damilola said,
"I'll join you guys in the next ten minutes"Mimi said.

"And here we are" Mimi said to me,after I parked the car,
"Yeah,I hope you had fun" I asked,
"Yeah,all thanks to you" Mimi replied,
"Hmm,we'll excuse you two" Tolani said,
"Thank you"The girls said before they got out,
"My pleasure ladies"I replied.

Now it was just Mimi and I,finally the privacy I'd been praying for,
"You have beautiful eyes" I said to her,
"Thanks" She replied,

Okay,now that went bad,I should just go straight to the point,

"Hmmmm,about us Mimi"I said
"Come on,Chike we just met" she replied,
"I know but...." I trailed off,
"But what,Chike" She asked,
"I love you" I replied,
"Chike,see I just got out of a messy relationship and I'm not sure that I'm ready to go into another one" She said

"I'm a good guy,I much more better than your ex.Please just give me a chance Mimi,give us a chance" I replied,
"I'll think about it" Mimi said.

I moved closer to her,and tried to kiss her but she turned her face away,
"Chike, thanks so much for today" She said before getting down,
"It's nothing" I said,
"Bye" She said before walking inside,
"Bye"I replied.

I drove to the bar,to meet with my friends,
"Tell me about it"Bayo said,
"I hope I didn't mess up"I replied,
"What happened" Tolu asked,
"Okay, so she showed up with some of her friends"I said causing the guys to laugh,
"what the Bleep"Femi said,
"like,how many of them" Bayo said,
"Probably 1 dozen,I mean he said friends not friend" Tolu said before laughing,
"Just five or so,I can't remember" I said,
"Dude,that's stupid" Femi said,
"You should have just cancelled the date"He added,
"Those girls just used you, you no sharp" Tolu said,

I couldn't take it anymore,I stood up,
"See you guys tomorrow "I said before walking out.
