I encountered an experience on my way from church yersterday evening. As my husband wanted to cut into the Sabo Yaba road opposite Queens College, a Danfo driver as we usually call them cut the corner driving in speed, in fact if not for the grace of God, we would have had an head-on collision. When we drove into the road, there was traffic and we wondered why. Suddenly, before staying long there, my husband quickly averted the steering and ahead we saw a gathering at the front a few distance away from us, the danfo driver hit a napep tricycle and affected some passengers. He was on the run. The sight made me lament when Nigeria is going to change. No traffic officers to ensure people are driving in obedience to speed limits. The reason I recounted this experience is because of the lucky boy who has been freed from the wahala of Nigeria. There was another incident where some guys saw their friend drowning in a pool in University of Abuja but rather than help him, they monitored his death because they were envious of him. For how long do we want to keep up with a failing system like ours. The best is what is happening to the guy right now. I think due to our system, its better we tell the world that we've got the brains even if they do change their names, their heritage is still going to and will always be traced back to Nigeria. Whenever my husband is driving on the road, and he does speed, I usually tell him that I trust his driving skills but not other drivers who can cause accidents especially these our quack, untested drivers plying the road. Please let us all be happy for the young lad who was given the Ivy league admission. If he were your family member, would you encourage him to stay back in Nigeria? 1 Like |

Obamaofusa:Yes nah. Where do the leaders come from? Are they not members of the same society you and me come from? Even if we enter the leadership pisition we wont do any different |

Jaqenhghar: We should be proud of our own. Prof Soyinka is an example.Coupled with the fact that he schooled here in Nigeria,he got the highest and most Valuable prize of Nobel Laureate in Literature and he is the only African with a masterpiece. This is rare.Nobel Laureate and a masterpiece...phew! |

Jaqenhghar: I am sorry but I did not derail. We were talking about our own products here not being so successful because our leaders are nothing to write home about and I said there are exceptions and gave examples. |

Obamaofusa:They are now your products but if they are with you its the average me and you that will frustrate them. Lets stop blaming some vague leadership. We make the leaders and we built a society that does not show compassion and only celebrates people with money. We only velevrate them because oyinbos discovered them |

Re: Tamilore Awolesi Offered Scholarships By 7 US Ivy League Universities by Jaqenhghar: 11:25pm On May 13, 2019 |
Obamaofusa:I am not exonerating anyone. The leader is the reflection of how a society functions. If we are really sincere about justice and fairness we will never be comfortable with the kind of leaders we have. This is the same country where if you are a leader and dont steal people will still call you mumu. Lets learn to be responsible too for the rot. The task of biilding a country is not the job of leader alone I tell you even if Obama was to be president of this dump he will still fail 1 Like |

Kingkun69: Let's just agree that he is given admission irrespective of his tribe cos various factors influence admission these days like money& who u no. But beyond all these is d issue of d school environment. We really can't kid anyone. As shitty as d country, so are its schools |

Obamaofusa:. Hahahaha. God forbid. I have a relative who wants to contest for house of assembly in 2023. I don tell am. If you win, me and you na only hello and hi go join us till you step down. He is saying he wants to make change. I tell hom the same thing. If you cant make a change where you are, its impossible to make that change when you get there |
Re: Tamilore Awolesi Offered Scholarships By 7 US Ivy League Universities by Obamaofusa: 9:06am On May 14, 2019 |
Jaqenhghar: You are almost right .Most time when positive changes are made down there, nobody notices except you bring it to the social media but let Buhari make the positive change, you and I will know something has hitten Nigerians positively. As much as I agree with you on your point,I think when the leaders change positively,it will trickle down to the led.It is easier and advisable for the leader to change because they are few, powerful and have large followers who would be forced to emulate or be thrown on the sidewalk. Look at Ghana, the change was spearheaded by Rawlings then. You would not believe that Ghana is the only country in Africa that manufactures vehicles from ground to finish and recognised by OICA. 1 Like |
Re: Tamilore Awolesi Offered Scholarships By 7 US Ivy League Universities by Jaqenhghar: 9:35am On May 14, 2019 |
Obamaofusa:Excellent. Look at most societies. The so called developed countries. Change started from the bottom. Ghana you are talking of, yeah the change was made but is it sustainable? Between then and now what strides have they made? It seems they are regressing. You can force people to fall into line but if they are not convinced that what you are teaching them is to their benefit your efforts are just useless . This is a country where people cant keep a toilet clean. Is it leader that has to come and tell you the benefit of a clean toilet? Guy reason am now 1 Like |
