Ringing the bell signifies surrender?

Who rang the bell and surrendered?

Was it the soldiers of Kings Landing who surrendered and rang the bell?

Was it the ruler of KL Cersei who surrendered and rang the bell or

was it Jamie who was tutored to ring the bell by the serial betrayer Tyrion in a bid to save his sister?

Those of you supporting Dany's actions so far are cruel. If you don't see anything wrong, then you shouldn't be among humans. Before the bell was rang, the people surrendered. Even Jon was confused when she began burning the innocents. She heard the bell and still went ahead to burn down houses, women, children, unarmed men and what-not. Varys was right. She lacks the qualities of a ruler.

Who even said she's mad? Her motive is to destroy the city so Jon won't have anything left to rule. She's simply intoxicated by power.

From this episode henceforth, I wish her cold death. I am pissed.

My question is does greyworm know about Jon's parentage? Has Dany in any way told him(greyworm). So why is he acting like that? Is he acting on instincts?

Just as you have ,"The Mountain" to Cersei so is "Greyworm" to the Mother of dragons.
Danny need not to tell Greyworm about Jon's real identity. While in winterfell, there were not much loved. Guess its justifiable that the north loves themselves rather than strangers.

Danny told Greyworm that you'll know when you get my signal. Also don't forget Missandei was the only person who Greyworm came to love and care for. And such from what he said made him weak. He is the only unsullied who is without weakness from birth through training and that's how he became the head amongst them all.
Remember what he promised her when the war comes to an end. Well that is not binding on him any more. So I'd expect his character change.
Jon became too reserved for numerous reasons. He has chosen to honour his words.
Let's see what E6 has in store for us.

The Mad Queen may survive this series. Something tells me Jon will die. There are too many plot twists for this to end the way a normal movie will end.

The prediction of Arya or Jon killing the Mad Queen seems too easy.

@first bolded

This is why Season 1 is very important.

Truly, we don't know the Mad King, but based on those stories about him.... the conversation between Robert Baratheon and Ned Stark, Robert and Jaimie, Ser Barristan Selmy, even Grand Maester Pycelle

He was a good man, such a charmer. To watch him melt away right before my eyes....consumed by dreams of fire and blood... - Grand Maester Pycelle

It's clear that they wanted us to have good knowledge of who the man was, based on stories told by those who sat with him and rebelled against him.

Maester Aemon deliberately made a decision to join the Nights Watch because he wanted to be away from the political games being played.

@Second bolded

That's why their words were important. I believe that if they really wanted to start from the very beginning, it would have swallowed their budget. So, a lot of events were put into words, to carry us along.

@Third bolded

As earlier said, their words have more meaning than we might even think.

Arya killing the Night King is a strong proof. In as much as i was pissed, shocked, annoyed, frozen etc that of all the characters, Arya was the one who killed my king. It was clearly foretold by Melisandre, but we paid little attention to those words.

"I see a darkness in you. And in that darkness, eyes staring back at me. Brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes. Eyes sealed shut forever. We will meet again." - Melisandre (To Arya)

It's a pity that G.O.T is coming to an end, if not for anything, it personally taught me how important words are, no matter how or where or when it is said.

Words have always been supremely powerful; the problem is with the people behind them.

Hear Jon Snow : "When enough people make false promises, words stop
meaning anything . Then there are no
more answers - only better and better lies"

What's the most shocking death in GOT?
Me: Talisa stark(Rob's wife)

The guy Jon beheaded for always insulting him and insubordination when he was the Lord commander of the night watch. I thought it was play.

Ned Stark - I never saw it coming at all, ni S1? I thought Caitlyn Stark was dreaming about the whole thing. See me saying to myself "he can't die like that, he's not dead."

Khal Drogo - My Baby. Too sad.

Oberyn Martell - No words.
Jason Momoa, the guy who played Khal Drogo, is the most underrated actor on this show.
Man got into that difficult character like he was born into it.

Without a doubt. A pregnant woman stabbed multiple times in the belly is horrific to even imagine.

The gory death of that beauty generated alot of controversies that year man. I'm guessing it's the one reason that stopped the showrunners from devising the same 'plan' for Cersei.
I was really shocked at that scene, like seriously?

In all honesty, i had always known that Dany was going to turn mad, the excuse of doing what is necessary doesn't cut it. Thankfully, the show writers proved me right. I have my reasons....

1. Ever since those dragons matured, Dany has been burning people everywhere. At first, it seemed like she was the savior of the world, so a lot of fans didn't pick the clues that the writers were dropping. The burning of Sam's father and brother was a very strong message about a potential Mad Queen.

2. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Dany was hellbent on ruling the seven kingdoms at any cost, which is why Varys was bothered about her state of mind. Remember that Varys served under the Mad King, and a lot of others after him, so he clearly saw similar traits between father and daughter. Jon's refusal to be King made Varys even support him the more.

3. Dany rarely made decisions herself, which made me believe she wasn't worthy of being queen. She was excellent at saying 'Dracarys', but when it came to the major decisions that didn't have anything to do with execution....there was Ser Jorah - King of the Friendzone -, Tyrion Lannister, Jon Snow, Missandei, Lord Varys.

4. It wasn't necessary to burn down Kings Landing with all the innocents in it, but she made up her mind to do so because they didn't love her and to spite Cersei. Isn't that madness?, the children on the streets had absolutely nothing to do with the power tussle.

5. When she told Jon to hide his true identity, it was clear that insanity was already rising in her. She was desperate to rule the seven kingdoms and was going to do it at any cost.

"I spent my life in foreign lands. So many men have tried to kill me, I don't remember all their names. I have been sold like a broodmare. I've been chained and betrayed, raped and defiled. Do you know what kept me standing through all those years in exile? Faith. Not in any gods. Not in myths and legends. In myself. In Daenerys Targaryen. The world hadn't seen a dragon in centuries until my children were born. The Dothraki hadn't crossed the sea. Any sea. They did for me. I was born to rule the Seven Kingdoms, and I will." - The Mad Queen (To Jon Snow)

You are not lookin at the big picture....
Thats what leadership is all about ... you must learn to take hard decisions .....
Sam,s father and brother had the option to bend the knee but they refused ..... Dany took the decision....
The decision was not different from Jon Snow that hanged his brothers in the Night Watch and a Kid
Jon Snow ran away after that singular act .......thats why Jon always refuse to be a leader....
Cos you must do the needful when the need arises.....
There is no leader without advisers..... so sayin Dany cant make decision herself is an understatement .....
Haba.. Do you knw the number of times Dany save pple by just takin decisions..
Is it Tyrion and Vary that betrayed her on just a piece of info.....
Or Jon Snow that have been behavin strange since he know that he is a Tygayraen....
Is Jon so stupid to know that once he told Sansa ..... it is the same as tellin the whole world that he is the owner of the Iron throne...
Is there any war that innocent people dont die .... Cut Dany some slack.....
Listen to Cersei words.... KL will not fall...definitely ...not today....
So it is still possible that anyone can get a good shot at that Dragon....
[b]Lastly .... Dany will make a better leader than Jon Snow....anyday... anytime...
Dany aint mad....

Go and check the definition of a crime first.

I checked it bro then I realized that almost everyone on the show had committed one crime or the other judging by modern standards.

Even your righteous Jon snow had to do the needful at some point.

And as I mentioned earlier there are no villains in GOT, it wasn't a time of sharwama and indomie. Everyone just playing Im own game to his/her will.

So even the children deserved to be burned to death?

Nah they didn't deserve it but it was war bro, there might be civilian casualties at times, And I also wonder why the civilians moved into the city before the battle started when they were clearly safe outside

Why was he pissed when he was made a steward in the Night's watch? If I hated fighting, I'll be contended with that position, but no! He wanted to swing a sword. I don't actually care about what those directors explained! I'm watching what they produced and it's enough to draw my conclusion.

Sam Tarly was trained to fight, but he hated it. That's why he has poor swordsmanship. He would have tried to learn if he had a slight zeal to fight.

Jon Snow cut a frustrated figure with this position because this wasn't what he envisaged as the aim of his fighting training. He aimed to become part of the ranging and keep watch of the wall and protect the North from the wildlings (not the white walkers as they were considered a myth). The stewards only hunt and farm, milk the cows, tend the horses and bring supplies from the South. Non of these is heroic in the eyes of the brotherhood. He wanted to swing a sword to have a wildling at its end. Remember that wildlings were stereotyped to be anything far from people of the North. If Jon was fighting obsessed he would have killed Rayder, the leader of the wildlings, the minute he stepped foot across the wall.

How could you say Sam was trained to fight and he couldn't wield a sword, even when he joined the night watch? Why did he choose to go to the citadel? Why was he despised by his father? He lacked the ways of the Tarlys. The Tarlys were known to be brave and good with the sword.

Don't you get it? Sam hated fighting! Jon tried to teach him but he wouldn't learn. That's a perfect example of someone that hates the act. You can't tell me someone that teaches people how to do it hates it, please. It's not possible! He does it happily.

Jon doesn't go out killing people for fun. He always had a strong reason. Maybe that's why you think he hates swinging the sword.

First, he never said he hated fighting. You concluded he was talking about fighting.

Secondly, fighting and killing people aren't the same thing. undecided

Let's just say he hated the outcome. He's always loved being a soldier. Let's end this argument, shall we?

WTF is this dude talking about? Is losing a dragon worse than losing your life and just learning that one pscho turned your sister to a sexdoll?
Is Varys talking about another person having claim to the throne which doesn't even belong to you worse than a young boy you made your own steward and kept close to you deceiving you to your slaughter?

Tormund though. Crazy as you like. I wonder why no one in that hall batted an eyelid when he referenced Jon's unnatural resurrection from the dead. Everyone on the show seems to act like it's no biggie and that's a worry for me.
Everyone should have heard of Jon dying and coming back by now. A secret that more than two people know is no longer a secret, but information (RIP Lord Varys).

By the way, how come you didn't ask this same question when Arya spoke to Jon for the first time in the Godswood?
She asked, "How did you survive a stab wound to the heart?"

We were not shown when, where, or how Arya found out. So it's safe to assume the information is not news anymore.

I'm definitely going to rewatch everything - Season 1 - Season 8 - some time later.

With that being said, truth is, there is really no justification for Dany's madness.

The reason is because her life is very similar to that of her father. Varys served under her father, so he has a very impressive curriculum vitae when it comes to knowing the Targaryans. Even Ser Barristan Selmy was wary of it.

"I am no maester to quote history at you, Your Grace. Swords have been my life, not books. But every child knows that the Targaryens have always danced too close to madness. Your father was not the first. King Jaehaerys once told me that madness and greatness are two sides of the same coin. Every time a new Targaryen is born, he said, the gods toss the coin in the air and the world holds its breath to see how it will land." - Ser Barristan (To Daenarys a.k.a Mad Queen)

There are similarities between her life and her father's, and how they reacted to situations when pissed off. So if you defend her actions and say she isn't mad, then you can also defend her father's actions and say he isn't mad, whereas he is known as The Mad King.

This is part of her conversation with Tyrion in the throne room...

Tyrion: "The people who live there. They’re not your enemies. They’re innocents, like the ones you liberated in Meereen."

Dany: "In Meereen, slaves turned on the masters and liberated the city themselves the moment I arrived."

Tyrion: "They’re afraid. Anyone who resists Cersei will see his family butchered. You can’t expect them to be heroes. They’re hostages."

Dany: "They are. In a tyrant’s grip. Whose fault is that? Mine?"

Tyrion: "What does it matter whose fault it is? Thousands of children will die if the city burns."

Dany: "Your sister knows how to use her enemies’ weaknesses against them. That’s what she thinks our mercy is.....Weakness."

Tyrion: "I beg you, my queen..."

Dany: ....but she’s wrong. Mercy is our strength. Our mercy toward future generations who will never again be held hostage by a tyrant."

This conversation clearly shows that Daenarys had already made up her mind on burning the city, innocents included. The only thing that would have stopped this is if the people fought Cersei like the slaves in Meeren and saved her the stress of even fighting a soul. Which could also have meant that they love her, the love she has been searching for.

Unfortunately, the people of Westeros and the people of Essos are quite different. She was highly pissed that she had to scare them before they rang the bell, so since they prefer fear, let it be so.

"Dracarys".

"Burn them all".
I think this is actually truth about burning of KL, and I seriously think that conversation btw Danny & tyrion hás got a lot of message being passed across to we humans about our lives, we determine the nature of our life, either we choose to be free or live in bondage, for the latter we got pay a bitter price.
