I’m not sure I understand you .
But does that mean I can still get some units if I bid early enough on a trading day?
Since all trading, if there will be any, will be on the floor of NSE ?
Please enlighten me before I move any fund to my stockbroking account.

If some holders decide to sell, you can get some unit.

But nobody can be forced to sell if they don't want to .

Those who force them are the one manipulating it. Mtn would have been better stay on their own, that coming to disorganize our market that is getting stabilize after the general election, market is moving one step up, two step down.

We should resist other listing by introduction, any one that fail to come in through IPO should stay clear.

Who on this platform has gotten even 1 unit of mtn share?. If no one has gotten, that means some serious illegality is going on, and both mtn , NSE, and SEC need to be sue to court. How can a stock be listed on the flour of NSE @#90, and for two consecutive trading section none of the ordinary shareholder participants has gotten one unit, and stock keep on closing on 10% on daily basis.

They should have giving them modality to make the share available for the first time at least 3 trading days, even if it mean creating additional share to accommodate new investors. Or get them going first through IPO, which will last for a week or two. This act of listing by introduction is purely scam.

Manipulation is seriously going on, from today market experience shows that various companies CEOs are grabbing their units through back door, massive sale off was witness in Nestle, GTB, Zenith etc, even in the FCMB that has CSL stockbroker as their subsidiary, offloaded heavily at #1.55 the last minutes of today trading, I believed that this has connection with getting money ready for Monday trading, I think since they are big stockbroking company they can easily get mtn stock on cross deal.

I place my buying order at about 9.40, and the order went through, but it didn't show in the bid line up, I placed another one and it didn't show also. When I refresh the bid box many times, I found out that nothing was added or removed, it appeared with the same figure from beginning to end of trading section, and my bid expired.

After they might have done pumping the price to their desired junction, they will look for whom to dump on. Anyway it's better we leave them, after they finish pumping the stock, they should also dump it on themselves.
I placed a trade for táṣẹ́rẹ́ unit today but I canceled it for a better stock when I realized it is not our (minority shareholders like me) turn to get it. I pity those that use analog brokers because the next set of people to get will be stockbrokers, which means analog brokers will buy with clients money and later sell for clients after they have made a reasonable profit. I don't like chasing shadow, MTNN is a shadow for now.

@ Rebekah, it's the ASSET management not the PENSION management o. So no effect on pension.

@OBAGADAFFI, Equity fund, Guaranteed investment fund, ethical fund, aggressive fund, and maybe bond fund. Those are their funds that have equity exposure. Zero effect on MMF.

However, one easy way to profit from this MTN rally would be to buy their equity fund. Only issue is you won't be able to cash out before 90 days, erstwhile you forgo 2% of your capital.

You're right.

MMF has no exposure equity/stocks .

Guaranteed investment fund and Balance funds is better.

Equity fund exposure is too high.

"Whenever resources are particularly scarce, demand exceeds supply and prices are driven up. The effect of such a price rise is to discourage demand and conserve resources. The greater the scarcity, the higher the price and the more the resource is rationed".

Same theory applies to Stocks

If everybody wants MTN shares and those who have don't sell, the price will be marked up by 10% every trading day until the price is high enough for someone to agree to sell....

If all those who want MTN shares decide they don't want the shares again, the price stops risimg

And if those who have decide they want to sell and no one wants to buy, the price falls

that's the layman break down of the law of demand and supply

Trading took place! MTNN stocks were sold either on the floor or crossed to another broker at the maximum price of the day(hence the 10% rise).

Since it is a much sought after stock, people will continue to bid at 10% maximum price so as to get a piece of it.

So don't have headache. Shares were sold and the stock was bought albeit at maximum price for the day.

On Stanbic IBTC shareholding in MTN. One thing you might note is that a lot of the shares belong to beneficial owners ~ politically exposed persons and some other HNI who would not want their name appear in print for specific reasons. Osinbajo and some other OGs are shareholders but you don’t see their names appear on that list.

You might have also noticed that big men form new companies/investment vehicles just for specific investments. I will detail on this later.

Beneficial ownership, nominees and trusts is the way rich OGs roll!

I tried to buy MTN private equity via Stanbic last year or so, (you would be given a login, like their asset management account etc, there is a special link to it in their asset management site), but one of the rules was being worth over or have 100,000 USD to get in, unfortunately for the broke me I didn't have this. It was actually kinda in plain sight.

Lol!

That was a huge miss!
You could have crowd funded $100k with friends, set up a company/investment vehicle and you are good to go. Everyone gets equity commensurate to his USD contribution.

Yep. A very huge one. I actually tried to, but some of my friends that were interested were broke and the ones that were not broke were not interested. Lol, life!

Funny thing when this MTN thing was spreading around, some of them started calling me and all. Lol, what a life. By then though I was so pissed because I knew I will never buy at 90 naira, nor any further increase from there. Many more opportunities will come, I hope.

What if it's the same people that are selling are the same people buying to keep on pumping the price high, since their daily gain and movement is far greater than the buying and selling commission. And they will only release some to the SEC boss, NSE boss, Stockbroking boss and Interested politicians. 49 deals that I saw yesterday mean that, it was about 49 people they sell to.
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Chibuking81(m): 9:48am On May 18, 2019
This listing of mtn will bring about some number of downward risk to NSE, which we are witnessing already. Most companies MM money will be shifting to mtn thereby reducing their pumping bargaining power in their various stock, FCMB as case study has offloaded sum of their holding to be loaded in mtn, since they have advantage of their CSL stockbroker and they stand chance of getting theirs through cross deal strategy. I would have been a victim of FCMB yesterday dumping, as I reducing some unit of order in mtn, and place it at 1.60 in FCMB junction, and later wanted to shift it to 1.68, but decided to look for other stock leaving 3 unit @ 1.60 which was filled at dying minutes, and the close at #1.55. Even if they return to 1.60+ next week, they have said bye bye to #1.80 for short period.

People in transcorp should be careful because am sensing pumping and dumping move, which will likely take place in the new week. The disadvantage of mtn listing, will be in reducing the number of activities in other listed stock, because it's still the same investors that will take part. Many want to be mtn shareholders irrespective of what their EPs and PE will be for now, market will get back to itself maybe by releasing of q2 result period which will be coming up by July, then we will know the mtn strength by their result.

Market will remain down for now, except if all the people who are cueing up at mtn entrance decided to come back, which might not be possible by next week. Because as soon as the mtn door become accessible ordinary share holders will troop in, and then after a little while, the law of diminishing return will set in.

I’d be terrified if that is actually the true state of things re MTN shares. That said, whatever is happening is totally expected when you do listing by introduction for a profit machine like MTN.
