The only positive thing about Portugal is that, it is part of EU and their residence permit/visa can be used to travel within Schegen zones. Its a dead zone in term of job opportunities. Comparing Portugal to Norway is like comparing Canada with Mexico.

Are you going for studies? If the answer is yes, the thing about Norway is that, it's difficult to stay there after your graduation because the immigration rule is that you must get related job in your study area before work permit can be given to you. Let me state that while studying and doing part time job(menial job) in Norway, I am pretty sure that you will save reasonable amount of money during this period.

To be Frank, in most of these countries, it's extremely difficult to get professional jobs without a very good ability to speak their languages. However, if you are into IT and know your onions, you stand a better chance.

NB: UK has started giving six-month post study visa.

At the bolded.. So sense has finally fallen on them. Whether they give 6months or 24 months post study visa,, prospective students won't forsake Germany, Finland, Estonia, Sweden, Norway... To me UK has lost it.. Before I gained admission into the University, I used to dream of living in the US/UK. I checked on some UK Universities online and saw their annoying rqts.. "Candidates must be willing to go back and develop their home country after their studies" and am like this is rubbish abeg...

The German Government introduced its zero tuition fee system for students from any Nationality and allow students stay as permanent immigrants with the knowledge that they will make good bucks outta the student either through taxes (for high earners), rents, transport fees, insurance etc and ensure that such student enjoy good quality of life... But UK did not reason like this. Now they wanna attract students. Mtcheew! Expensive country, high school fees etc with their unnecessary IELTS / TOEFL exams.. They just love to extort people.

Trust me on this, there is no better country to move to other than English-speaking country if you are ambitious as a Nigerian. I will say also that IT guys are aslo getting better jobs in Europe after their studies. For me, life is not all about making bucks only but how I make it. Besides Ireland and UK in Europe, if you are not fluent in their native languages, life is gonna be tough. You can only understand when you are there.

About UK, please let us give them kudos. Do you know when they had been issueing post-study visas to Nigerian(and other NON EU CITIZENS) before things changed? They have tried my brother. Go to London and see for yourself how many Nigerians have established themselves there. Majority of them studied and graduated in UK before thier immigration law get stricter in 2014 or so. Talking about German tuition free system, do you know that Sweden and Finland have been doing it for many years but stopped it? Believe me, Germany can stop it as well at any time to regulate their migration.

If our country is good enough, this kind of thread may not be opened. Canada, Aussie that have different immigration programs right now can stop it at anytime and there is nothing we will do about it.

My brother, I am only here to help with information that people may lack. I will say that I got all your points but its sad that Nigeria is such in deep mess that we are looking for greener pasture anywhere these days.

Links to show that students are allowed to work in some EU countries.

https://studyindenmark.dk/live-in-denmark/working-in-denmark/hours-and-legalities

And with Estonia and Finland, I am sure students are allowed to work part time while studying for about 25hrs/week.

Can you tell where its not difficult to combine studying with working? From USA to Australia, its not gonna be easy to studying and working. Even in Nigeria, its not easy to do that not to talk of foreign land.

The point is to manage your time very well.

Brother sorry for saying this , no perfect country but nigeria is worst . No light , strike by doctors, student , tanker drivers , lecturers, police brutality of Nigerians , slave wages from big companies like banks and many other things, entitlement mentality of Nigerians and many more.

In ghana, they have good electricity and good security, government budget in Ghana is over 90 percent implemented. You can never do a fake product in Ghana and get away with because all the products like drinks, beer, bottle water carry product identification number on the cover. Cows and goat meats are inspected, certified and stamped before being slaugter to prevent infected meats being sold to the public and the list goes on. Some People will come and say ghana Is small country which is the excuse the politicians in Nigeria always say.

No police officer will ask you to bring your particulars in Ghana because all the registered vehicle will pass through DVLA machine unlike Nigeria where you can get plates number and driver license at home

Senegal, south africa and some african countries are 10 years visa to US. I have travel to few developed countries and few African countries that are not as developed as Nigeria but they maintain rule of law, education without incessant strike, good electricity and low crime rate.

If you are travelling from Nigeria as a nigerians, the immigration will want bribes from you and if you are coming back the same .

If you are travelling back to Nigeria by road from other west African countries immediately you enter Nigeria border, from seme to mile 2 , you will pass more than 20 check points of police , immigration, customs officers. You can run a country like this and expect other countries to respect you.

Snake swallow money in NFF office. Just recently the internation athletics federation (IAAF) mistakingly transferred 130000 dollars to Nigeria athletics federation and they call me sport minister for refund and up till now they have not refunded them and to why have given them ultimatum that if they don't get refund we will be ban from athletics .

We need to politicians to get their heads and hearts together and make this country to work, being a poor country does not mean we should behave in such a manner and tell politicians are just cashing out from the country without any questions.

I have read that article up there, but I base on fact. DONT LET THE MEDIA FOOL YOU.
The point is:
1. It is possible to work as a student (part time), even as a foreign national, BUT, it is rare.
The Norwegian economy is very conservative, considering their population(little over 5.2million).
2. You can get a job in Norway, ONLY, if you can speak the language. They might give you a waiver if you can get a very indemand job.
I hope that strikes a point?

I am talking about menial jobs like dishwashing, cleaning jobs here. In places like Norway, Sweden, Finland, there will not be problem to get those kind of jobs while studying. They are using non- indigenes to do those jobs that they can't do.

But in a place like Poland, Portugal, and those second class European countries, it can be difficult to even get menial jobs.

I know what I am talking about.

You are not restricted to any working hours in Estonia, no limitations so far it doesn't affect your education. So, students do lots of hours to earn more.

Many blacks work in office in Estonia, working with multinational companies like APL, Arvato, Verif, TransferWise, Taxify, Wolts, DPD, ABB, Myjar, Monese, and more while some other students work in Bakery, Hotels, Laundry. It's very hard to seeing International students without any reasonable thing doing to make a living.

In Finland, it's rare to seeing black people working in offices like in Estonia, but your journey towards citizenship and amount of money you earn in Finland is better than Estonia. Day to day activities is easier in Estonia because of the technology compare to Finland. While both countries are tech savvy, Finland is more manual and to me, it's a little bit stressful compare to Estonia. If you have experienced both countries, you will know that, there is little or no difference in buying raw food stuffs in both places, especially if you are buying food from Lidl in Finland, you can actually compare that to Estonia. Meat is generally cheaper in Estonia, as well as buying fast food from the restaurant compare to Finland.

If you don't have huge money to put inside your account for Finland, Estonia is better as your chances of getting visa is high. But again, they don't have embassy in Nigeria. Ain't an excuse anyway because many Nigerian students have scaled through the hurdle.

To others, if anyone of you have access to Poland, Hungary, or Portugal, please go for it. We all have different budget and fingers are not equal. Don't be afraid that your life will be worst in the so called "second class European countries" but be happy that your life will start to getting better. These countries are ×5 better than Nigeria, and actually a stepping stone to greatness. Someone says Poland is cold, anyway, that's not actually a cold compare to Norway, Finland, Sweden, and Estonia. If that is your fear, then the Northern Europe ain't for you.

To be frank, more than 50% International students in Europe (Non-English speaking countries) are aspiring to relocate to English speaking countries. You are restricted to some opportunities because of language, but this is not what you can be scared of as many guys are really making it based on hard work and determination. Combining studies with work is not easy, but I bet you it is 100% doable.

I wish everyone all the best!

For Tech - Estonia rules.
Transferwire, Skype all originated from Estonia.

.
The only cons with Estonia is:
1. Low wage(salary) compare to other country.
2. Small black population
3. Language barrier.
.
If you are good in Cybersecurity, C++, Mobile App Dev, Data Science, Infrastructure Building, Site Reliability Engineering, Web Dev etc then jobs plenty of Estonia, but you just gatz to learn the language and adapt wella.
.
.
My point is:
For Tech & software, Estonia issa GO.
For Engineering, Finland.

Now what I mean is infrastructure in place to curb the intense cold.
.
In Norway, homes have underground heating systems + fire pits in homes.
In Finland, homes have triple glazed windows + electric or coal fired suana + top notch home insulation.
In Estonia, home insulation is in place + fire pit.
In Sweden, heat from Waste fired plants are transported via insulated pipes to homes + good insulation.
In poland, there are no infrastructure.

Regarding those that their minds are not made up as to which country they should migrate to, just take a bold step based on your resources...But bear in mind that migrating to any country in Europe besides the UK presents language barrier issues and of course, racism....So you have to be extra motivated, smart and possess one mind to advance your goals here...I will not tell that here is all heaven, but be ready to work hard...I mean hard...Before I got to where I am, I had even done cleaning jobs, dish washing etc...I know how many families in Naija that my salaries from those jobs helped and the prayers, before I landed an IT job...If you are not even motivated in Nigeria you cannot be here, because if your papers are right, you can be getting welfare benefits and just start living a laid back life, before you know it you are 50....Even in that Naija, na shoes I been dey sell for Festac and Abuja plus bricklaying sef sometimes...Na only God and my close paddymen from this thread from Festac understand sha....This is why I cannot rest here even.

My brother, see ehnn...Let me tell you this little story from 2012 when I dey do contract work for NNPC, Carbon Black Plant Warri....We were on Night shift and down by two men, meaning those present had to work extra....So there is something in that plant called Mixer where the flows from the main refinery meets the steam in the carbon black overhead area. Now this area is like a mini engineering tank farm that requires experience...My man here, say around 48yrs at the time was mixing it and suddenly all the carbon black that should otherwise flow to the storehouse completely bathed him....But we continued...When we had a little break, he told me that everybody in his family are saying he is working in NNPC but how many are ready to work? I mean in plant areas? He told me that in the morning when he is going home in his jeep, neighbors and jobless youths will be admiring him but "If them tell poor man wetin him go do to get money, him go say nor worry I like the poverty"...The point is that las las as far as you can pay your bills, and can even send something to those families or friends in need, just do what you can....From my dishwashing job, I made contacts that landed me some nice football contacts! I never make better bar but I know say I go make am cos my ginger high, and I am ready to do ANYTHING to avoid begging my peers or whosoever...

Most people for Naija when I dey send bar to go just receive am then lock up...Europe hard for the lazy oh...A word is enough sha

I have a question bro.
Does it mean someone without work permit will not be able or permited to do any work at all that can allow such person to gather small money to enroll for a program in Finland or other part of Europe.
What is your input on this?. Thanks.

Life na your ginger las las plus small jara in form of grace from the big man upstairs...

But wetin I know sef? angry

Without permit you cannot get work..In America, I have friends that worked under the table for years before they gathered money and got documentation etc, but I can tell you that in Europe it is damn tough for this group at the moment...But then you wont have access to healthcare and other things cos they will always need your social number....Truth is, it is better to avoid these cos one is practically useless without documentation....Few years ago, many people came like that, but these days, with anti-immigration bills and leftist groups taking power across EU states, it has become tougher...Even Finland recently got some of those in power at the moment and the anti immigration clamour here dey fear me sef lasan
