If you watched it from the beginning, you can tell that whatever goodwill the producers had, they've lost it and it will affect viewership for their spin-off series. They did not have to end it like they are now. I've heard series of excuses, about how the writer of the book hasn't released book 6 and 7 so they dont have content. I'm pretty sure the writers of the TV show could have come up with something better, even if it meant taking 3 years off just to come up with an outstanding season 7 and 8. 7 was manageable, we got some nice surprises but 8 was downright predictable which is the exact opposite of what GOT is known for and the surprises were quite disappointing really. If they had ended it well it would have stood out as probably the best TV show ever but this is why I'll always pick Breaking Bad ahead of any TV show, from start to finish it never disappointed.

Can you blame the directors of the show? They have been producing past seasons with the guide of the books..the author has been delaying to complete his latest book so they couldn't wait..but I'm sure he gave them some materials from his manuscripts..

competent writers.”

After the show was on hiatus for all of 2018, the

watched one-day event in HBO’s more than four-

A lot of fans have described the season as
underwhelming and a poor finale to a great
show. Among the numerous issues, fans
complained about the poorly lit ‘Battle of
Winterfell’ in episode three.

They also complained about the inconsistent
storylines, poor character arcs and were outraged
when the otherwise carefully shot series
accidentally left a paper coffee cup in episode
four.

HBO acknowledged that the presence of the
disposable cup in the scene was a mistake, and
later edited it out of the episode.
In the penultimate episode of the series, which
aired May 12, Daenerys executed Lord Varys
before wiping out King’s Landing and most of its
population, even after the bells of surrender
sounded.

Many thought the massacre was completely out-
of-character for Daenerys — or at the very least
needed more of a build-up.
‘Game of Thrones’ has had an average of 43
million viewers per episode which is expected to
rise as the final episode airs on Sunday.

It's a genuine excuse. I have book 1 to 4..Martins is taking too much time to complete his book..the movie writers only tweaked some scenes but the dialogue and majority of the plot remained the same..even at that, the shows(from season one till date) still paled in comparison to the books...the books are THAT good! I doubt the writers of the show can come up with anything more intriguing than what the author will..

Yes I agree with the petition, I’m not sure Cersei’s dead and even if she is, that’s not the way for her to go, Arya deserves the pleasure of plucking out her eyes before finally beheading her, she shouldn’t die that easy.

As much as I find season 8 beyond disappointing, I wouldn't go as far as calling Weiss and Beniof "woefully incompetent".

George Martin is a master in his craft; his ASOIAF books are simply peerless, so there's honestly no way the quality of the show would not have gone down when D& ran out of Martin's books. Of course, this knowledge doesn't make watching season8 any less awful, but at least it helps put the awfulness in perspective: D& really did do their best.

Take any of the 2 main "set pieces" and look at them as a stand-alone: the Battle of Winterfell, and the Battle (or should we say the Massacre) of Kings Landing. By themselves, these two events were excellent in choreography, camera work, special effects, and cinematic directing (I will leave out dialogue/scripting for obvious reasons). The problem only shows up when you look at the bigger picture: continuity and storyline-development.

My point with all this grammar is this: yes, season8 is awful, but I would not blame D& so much. I honestly doubt anyone could do better without GRR Martin's source material.

And by the way, a remake is never going to happen. Too expensive.
