I think the 12% is more of a guaranteed return anyday.

Went to stanbic bank this morning to run MMF, I was asked to open an account with them..........is it necessary??

You don't need to open an account with the bank but you will need to have an account with their investment arm.
Alternatively use their app, download their forms, fill, scan and send back to them.
I don't have an account with their bank.

that is as bad it could be more or less.

Don't mislead people with what you "think". They clearly state on their website that their rate as at 16/05/19 is 12% but you are here thinking for them.

It's not mandatory jare. Don't mind them. It's same way they pressured me as I went there. They tried to make it look like it's mandatory but I stood my ground and refused it. I've opened mmf without opening any account with them

nope.

The true yield on Tbills is higher.

The best strategy remains : put long term funds in Tbills, then put the interest and other emergency /backup funds in money market fund.

That way, you can earn true yield in Tbills and still have access to the interest easily.

True Yield on 12.5% is about 14.3%

1. Is the accruable profit only applicable every week based on the published interest rate?

2. Are profits paid on weekends?

I made a direct transfer from my bank to ibtc mmf account. A receipt was printed and I used it as evidence of payment.

I didn't use the app. I contacted them on their verified Facebook page since I couldn't go back to their bank due to time schedule. They requested for my phone number and email. They contacted me afterwards and requested I scan the filled form, receipt of payment, passport and means of identification (I used my voters card) and send to them. They opened it for me and sent me my mmf account number and password. I changed the password after my first login and that was it. I've been checking my account on the asset management website ever since.

Profit is paid daily, no profit on weekends
Yields are paid daily excluding weekends. You'll receive yield for weekends on the following Monday. So, on every Monday you should receive about 3 times the yield you received on Friday.

My app showed me otherwise yesterday evening , but wen I rechecked ds morin after seeing ur txt, 3days profit has been added from dt of Friday's. Thx for d correction
