Currently at my farm with my old man.........we both came up with this for lunch..... chilled palm wine is in the fridge pending when this meal is buried! cool
Which soup is that? Looks great

Craving pounded yam but the closest thing to it within a 10 mile radius currently would be a ready meal box of mashed potatoes sad grin

It's called fisherman soup but the colours vary depending on the ingredients or leaves used ..... as for your pounded yam hopes....I think they sell boxed poundo yam etc in either tescos or some of those naija restaurants? Guess you need to hunt a bit

HELP PLEASE! HOW DO YOU PEOPLE FRY AKARA HERE?
It was a major disaster. The thing kept sticking to the pan, scattering when I try to turn it. I thought it was because i was using electric cooker at first, transferred it to the gas cooker and when I started losing my mind, I went to find kerosene and sat on the bed to fry it. I have stored the remaining puree for now

It may be that the puree is too watery, or the vegetable oil(I assume that's what you used) isn't enough. You deep fry Akara, plenty ororo is needed and you allow it fry for few minutes before you try to turn it, until it is mildly fried, it'll just keep scattering if you try to turn it. finally, make sure the fire under it is regulated, not too low, so it doesn't get soggy.

Most likely the mixture was watery!

For a beginner like yourself it’s best to add minimal water and if you’re grinding the beans at a commercial mill ensure to inform them it’s for akara so they also add minimal water!
Next is to mix in one direction till it’s as fluffy as can be
Use a small spoon as a scoop ie let the target be small balls as against large sized akara balls

Someone has already said the bit for the temperature for the oil

Better luck next time
