I try to explain to myself what a successful person entails. Is it money, satisfaction, happiness et al.
I then realise that success is endless and formless. It could mean different things to different people.

In the Nigerian context, when do we say someone is successful looking at it from the perspective of monthly income, life luxuries etc. Using age bracket of 27 - 35.

Adults should define heights they wish to attain at each age bracket and work towards it.

Each age bracket presents its challenges, the objective should be to emerge from it with the least possible damage to body and mind.

Like I mentioned, each stage in life presents a challenge, I'm 29 now, some of my friends are getting married, most have a car or two, most have a stable job, society will expect me to tow the same line to be called a success.

But I say Bleep it, I'm not planning to get married, scratch that, I don't own a car even though I earnestly desire it, I'm a freelancer.

By my own standard, I'm successful, I can fend for myself, travel to any part of the country I wish. And working towards my retirement as obviously, I may not have kids. In my minds eye, I'm successful.

So therefore the definition of success varies among individuals. So I cannot speak for others and say if they are successful or not.

I would learn towards more of contentment than successful based on your explanation. I do agree however, the success varies among individuals

There are stages in life.

Don Jazzy is a successful business man.

50yrs down the line, in addition to his business, we might want to take into cognizance how he fares family wise.

Success varies per stage.

A student of 15yrs will be successful if she clears her final exams; we would scream if she gets married.

45yrs down the line, if she managed to pull off an Omotola, we will all comment on how successful she is.

Being successful means being contented within your space at every given stage of your life. What i measure success with may differ from what you use. So it all depends on the individual and what works for them

When your bank account looks like a phone number...lol


But yea I agree with the people above me. Success has stages...do what you can at your own pace
