First of all, let me tell you I'm a full member of Redeemed Christian Church Of God.

Since I joined the church last year I've noticed how serious the mandate of multiplication of branches is.

Using my branch as a case study.

First of all, it didn't occur to me that the building we're using is rented until they started tasking every member for their own share of the yearly rent. My God! So I'm supposed to share in the rent of my church? What happens to tithes and offerings? I go to church every week, pay my tithes and offerings and now this?

Why move money to the headquarters when you've not paid your rent?

The most painful of it is that we were also tasked to open another branch during the Easter let's go a ffishing program . Who opens a new branch when he has not paid the rent of his head office? If RCCG is a business center as someone once said, you don't open a new office when the first is not yet established.

Ist that how it's done in other churches or is it exclusive to RCCG?

Don't carry God into public domains. We may have other discontentment but should keep it from discouraging non Christians lest we push them away from the light. In this walk, we learn to look away from many things.

I'm not talking about God here. I'm talking about a church.

But truth shall set us free.

It is not only RCCG, my former church would raise funds for national programs when they still have things to do with money locally. There's a particular amount they must remit every month.

This is very bad. Not encouraging at all.

These G.Os only know the number of branches he has but doesn't know how to survive to be afloat. Is there any difference between this and bank marketers? A business should be established before it starts remitting.

I agree with the OP.

Modern day churches especially those that report to a center or HQ strike me as business centers.

Because of my level of involvement, I can't even spiritualize tithes and offerings again.

It is a revenue generating venture for me.

Yes, I know that tithes and offering us to bring meat in the house (church). However, the meat is to feed the needy and full time pastors.

If after bringing tithes and offering, you still task the same needy to do things in the church; if the full time pastors are paid peanuts, then what can we say?

See the reason we're where we are in Africa! So you see a thief and decide not to shout lest God become angry with you? We're finished! But you will talk when a politician embezzles money?

The 2 set of problems we have in Nigeria are politicians and religious leaders. If they're taken care of, then Nigeria will blossom.

@OP, no be God send you go join church, dey pay tithe and offering to ordinary men like yourself simply because they carry MOG title put for forehead.
Jesus Christ never taught His followers to go to church or build or rent churches for Him.

Jesus Christ never taught His followers to pay tithes or give offerings to courses that have nothing to do with you.

Jesus Christ preached against the serving of two masters, so by subscribing to the teachings of your MOG over the teachings of Jesus Christ, you have invariably made yourself a slave to whims of these men.undecided

Your MOGs seem bent on growing their business empires( their own kingdoms) at all cost. The decision is up to you as to whether you want to continue advancing their kingdom or you can always get back to your original goal of Finding God, serving Jesus Christ and inheriting His Kingdom instead.

How else can one become a Christian without joining a church?

Speaking out is the solution.

Read the gospels for answers. Jesus Christ sent His disciples to preach the Kingdom message as He taught them. That message has since been hijacked by anti-Christ individuals who pretend to be of God but only so they can sell lies and use those who ought to belong to God for their personal gain. undecided

Fortunately, the gospels were written to educate us all on what Jesus Christ really stipulated. Christ is the Truth sought. His words are written there in the gospels for all the read. undecided

To become born again, his commandments need to be obeyed. Anyone that has taught you that there are shortcuts is a liar and anti-Christ(against Christ's teachings). The typical "confess your sins and accept Jesus Christ" message does not tell the true path tp becoming a follower of Jesus Christ. Many have been severely decieved by such teachings. Be sure that any MOG who does not teach what Jesus Christ has stipulated, does not obey Jesus Christ's commands, and according to John the apostle, is a liar and Jesus Christ (the truth) does not live inside such a person. undecided

Jesus is the New Covenant that God promised, and like the old Covenant before it, we are meant to Obey His word to the letter rather than listening to teachings that tell us it does not matter. undecided

Speaking out against how your MOGs want to run their personal businesses/build their kingdoms? Goodluck with that! undecided

Hmm. Seems you're advocating boycott.

One can just stay at home and read his bible.

i would not say boycott... more like cut every ties you have with that which pretends to be of God but is actually not. Abandon every teaching you have ever received from that source and any other source that pretends to be of Jesus Christ but does not obey His commandments.

Jesus Christ said that anyone who wants to enter His Kingdom has to become like a child, so unload all the lies you have ever heard about God and be ready to start afresh with a blank slate. So that Jesus Christ can through His word and Spirit write His truth on the slate that is your mind.
God does not lie. Jesus Christ, the Word of God, is Truth.

Would you rather continue attending these world churches which you know have absolutely nothing to do with God or His plan, worshipping MOGs who you know has nothing to do with God , in the name of God? undecided
Is there a delusion greater than that for anyone who thinks they are in Christ? undecided

The problem is with persons like you.

You were not forced to be a member of that church, nor to make financial contributions to it.

If you are uncomfortable with their modus operandi, then you need to speak up at the church meetings, approach the local church executives to make contributions. Your voice would be heard and several others might support your opinion.

It makes little sense to bring the affairs of your church to the public for ridicule. Would you bring the failings of your father, the mistakes of your mother to the public for dissection?

It's sickening that you perceive your church to be a business centre. You obviously see just the revenue accruing to your church, instead of your reason for being a part of it. This defeats your purpose in church. Get out of their midst.

I am sure your true purpose for this thread has been achieved- ridicule of your church, likes and quotes, a justification of your hatred and envy for your church executives who are 'enriched' by your miserly tithes and offerings. It's comforting to know that folks like you find their voice in a place where it's hardly relevant.

Speak up in your church, know your purpose for being a part of it, make contributions based on your convictions and leadings, understand the set-up of the church you've chosen to be a part of. If you can't, leave. Don't be a tool of public ridicule to your church.

May your paths be smooth, may your feet never stumble in your sojourn.

More light to your paths.
