AnnOfili: Yes, you can include your cousin by adopting him. It’s better done if you are pre-ITA. However, based on adoption date, yours and his age etc, it may raise a flag and lead to some questions such as why did you adopt him. Are his parents dead? Incapable of taking care of him? Also remember that there are background checks done. Weigh your options and make a wise choice. All the best. 5 Likes |

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited you to apply for permanent resident status based on the qualifications you claimed in your Express Entry profile. In your Express Entry profile you indicated you had a relative in Canada who was a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident but have filed to provide sufficient proof of the relationship. This change in your qualifications resulted in a loss of points that brought your rank below the lowest ranking person who was invited to apply in your round of invitation, under the Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System. As I have found that you no longer possess the qualification on the basis of which you were ranked under an instruction given under paragraph 10.3(1)(h), you no longer meet the requirements of Section 11.2 of Act. Following an examination of your application, I am not satisfied that you meet the requirements of the Act and Regulations for the reasons explained above. I am therefore refusing your application. cutiep: |

tolfa: I need some clarification on this. So, I'm based in the US but I am in Nigeria for research for 3 months. I have my US PCC already. Thinking of getting Nigeria's next week. Does that mean I have to wait till I leave Nigeria to get my PCC? Or do I need to get US PCC again? Which country would you suggest I make the country of residence in this case: Nigeria or US? Should be turning in my application as soon as I get ITA in a few days. |

oluwabishop: I believe your case would be re-opened. However, can we know the exact error on the Birth Certificate? Is it an error relating to name, place of birth, parentage etc? This would give us insights to advice appropriately and others can also learn. Thanks. 4 Likes |

CTOBY: I doubt if you'd get an acknowledgment mail except in special cases were you are asked to send additional documents. What you can do is to send a mail and ask to know whether it was received. Also, have you sent all other documents such as transcript, licensing statement or statutory declaration as applicable to your case. All the best. |

CTOBY: PEBC is very notorious for being silent on applications. if you're sure all your documents, including your transcript, have been sent to them, wait another week or two then send them a mail requesting to know you application status. They will reply. first, double check with your courier company that all documents have been delivered and signed for. Then state the name of the person who signed for the delivery in your mail. Note that their silence does not in anyway mean they aren't working on your application. Due to their increasing volume of work, they're finding it difficult to reply mails regularly. you may jst get a mail after the 3-4months processing time, that your report has been dispatched already. All the best on your EE journey. |

You have two options. First, you can use US as your country of residence. You are visiting Nigeria for 3 months. If you use US as your country of residence, you will have to get Nigeria's PCC after you leave the country else the VO would have issues with it during post-AOR since you got it before you left and could lead to a rejection. You do not need to another US PCC if it is not 6 months at the time of submission. You can submit the one you have. Alternatively, you can use Nigeria as your country of residence, get your Nigerian PCC and submit it. Submit your US PCC as well. However when you move back to the US after three months, you must notify CIC of the change of location by raising a CSE. You Whichever country you decide to use as a country of residence will have consequences for the validity of the PCC of the second country. godG: 4 Likes |

hipstar2:Thank you. I did some more research and came to this conclusion as well. His dad is late, mum has 4 of them and wants help with school/training them, and I'm 16 years older than him. Adoption throws up fresh issues even internally. Like does he want to be adopted, do I want to adopt a teenager (what do I know about parenting), will his mum be willing to have him adopted and so on. Thanks a lot for your response. |
