We build airport, roads, Schools, Hospitals, Markets and industries in the East without waiting for any govt... Now is the time to take Enugu airport from the federal hands and build it for the sake of our eastern economy! Invest now for a better future!

Don't be fooled. Nobody said don't close and "fix" AIIA if they are sincere. We are even praying for them to do it as they have unnecessarily neglected every infrastructure in the SE region. We want them to set a runway reconstruction timetable period as they did for Abuja airport and other airports in Nigeria. They should also name a nearby airport closer to the Enugu destination as they insisted on Kaduna airport rather than Lagos airport to divert Abuja bound flights when they closed Abuja for repairs.

In the same spirit and manner which Hadi Sirika had persistently argued for the convenience of passengers to be taken into account when Kaduna airport was fixed before Abuja airport traffic was diverted there to allow for fixing of Abuja airport. The Federal Government should demonstrate sincerity and prepare Sam Mbakwe Intl airport Owerri or Asaba Intl airport to take diverted traffic from Enugu before the so called closure for "repairs'

Everyone knows the Fulani agenda aginst the Igbo in particular and Nigeria in general. So folks should not be surprised at their intrigues to close down Akanu Ibiam Intl. airport so that they can divert the traffic to Kano, Kaduna or Lagos.

Hear Hadi Sirika below making the case for diversion to Kaduna airport and NOT Lagos when Abuja airport is closed for repairs

problems facing it currently are, short runway, occupation of land for expanssion by settlers and a near by market, uneven and sloppy runway due to poor construction, radio and Commuinication mast erected close to incoming airplane terminals and all other little hicups

That's Nigeria for you! They use our commonwealth to do up Kano, Kaduna, Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt airports....but when it comes to AIIA Enugu, Ndigbo are expected to source for the funds and fix it themselves!

You couldn't make it up! wink

We've gone over this issue here before.

Location of airport is not based on federal character. When you build airport it has to generate income and be profitable. It also has to be sustainable.

SE is not gaining population. More people migrate out than are coming in so your net migration is a negative. Due to high rate of crime your higher class population...your elites who could afford air transportation on regular basis and encourage traffic in and out of the airport...are permanent migrants and dont even live in SE, their trip is seasonal. Theyd rather fly in and out of Lagos or Abuja or Kaduna every week for one business or the other than build a pattern of regular flights to Enugu and risk becoming target of kidnappers looking for ransom money.

Your low class ride bus to and fro, and even at that...buses going out run at full capacity whereas on their return trips their seats are hardly occupied.

So who is going to use Enugu Airport? How is it going to generate income if traffic is light?

You all think im joking when i say SE is deficient.

Well said.

It's a classic case of need, supply, demand and pure economics, but as usual, they sweep everything under tribalism and other rubbish.

When you tell this to our people, they behave like idiots. Nnamdi Kanu shouting, sacrificing himself and family to bring this evil to the consciousness of our people, for where.

Jonathan the PHD holder spent over 6 years n could not complete a single terminal but Buhari the dullard spent 4 years and as completed Maiduguri Abuja PH Kaduna terminal all in just 4 years and Igbo would rather blame the same Buhari for their woes.

You people need shame to be ingrained in your medulla I swear. That aside I know Buhari will fix Enugu airport but just as you have chosen not to prioritize your vote for him I believe he as the right not to prioritize project in that region but he will definitely fix this airport that’s one thing am sure of.
