The incoming Governor of Lagos, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, recently uncovered the Eko Innovation Centre, a technology hub that is private sector-driven.

The initiative was acquired to strategically improve entrepreneurial and technological measure beyond the state.

Addressing while the presentation of the centre located at Ikoyi, Sanwo-Olu, who would be sworn in today as Governor of Lagos State, announced the location of the innovation centre used to be one of his campaign offices.

“It used to be a spot where I had lots of young people who used to spend long nights to improve a lot of concepts nearby my manifesto.

“So, we spoke to ourselves, what is the best thing we can use this place for and so we decided to turn it into a tech hub, where personalities can come here to generate thoughts.

“So, it is for Lagosians to come and take pleasure of it once it fully becomes operational. It is part of our participation to the things we addressed while we were campaigning, that we would give Lagos a tech hub,” he stated.

According to him, if “we solve the Lagos problem, you ought to a large extent solved the Nigerian difficulty.”

The Eko Innovation Centre is deemed to run independent, externally any form of support from the Lagos government, Sanwo-Olu stated.

“But if we see that products coming out from this space can make sense to our government, we would take advantage of it.

“Technology is the method to go, it is the process of the future and it is the way the entire world is running to.

“Everybody is using technology to improve everything that we need. We are accepting that from this place, things around the THEME concept that has to do with the environment, education, transportation and health would be improved.

“People from here would come and give us innovative ideas to solve our transport problem; ideas with which they think locally but act globally,” he added.

Also addressing, the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of the Eko Innovation Hub, Victor Gbenga Afolabi, said, “the innovation hub was formed to a large extent when this place was used as the campaign office that brought in the incoming governor of Lagos State.”

He appended: “We went back to the manifesto and one of the things we saw was the fact that there is an agenda to make Lagos State a 21st-century economy. “The only way to create a 21st-century economy is to make sure you are creating businesses and solution to problems that are driven by innovation and technology.”

Anything wrong in being controlled by a shepherd if he’s directing the sheep to the rightful place.

A governor unveiled a tech hub on the second day of inauguration thereby placing Lagos on a path of progress and yet still your headache is Tinubu.

If truly Tinubu shepherds him to do this, then I hope he continue that to unveil more progressive things and shame people like you that wail just by the sound of Tinubu

What matters is good governance. Just sit back, relax and let’s give sanwoolu 3month to be able to infer if he’s gonna fail or not.

Masa, what do you want exactly? People get right to their jobs with immediate effect, you complain. People take time before they start you cry. It doesn't take a genius to know the problems in Nigeria and to address them headlong.

May God help you achieve great things during your tenure

You can’t solve Lagos problem but you can make it better than your predecessor left it and set another’s standard for your successor.

As much as what you wrote make sense, please don’t place Sanwo and Ihedioha side by side, one begin his tenure by unveiling tech hub and the other began his by demolishing government property to hurt his predecessor.

Lagos has been moving forward even before 1999, you should be concerned about Imo and try to advise your new governor on how to develop the state more.

Gracias
