He was in the middle and the ball never came. I dare you to name one pinpoint pass that went into the box. Like I said winning 2 penalties and scoring a goal speaks for itself.

You are correct, should the guy be drafted straight to the SE based on the potentials and showings you have seen so far. Great stats you reeled out there.

I have a question why is the coach changing his formation? He set up an attacking 4-3-3 against Qatar then hired a video matched reader for USA then set a defensive 4-2-3-1 formation which made him loss ,today again he set up another defensive 4-1-4-1 formation. What happened to his formation that won 4nill for him?

The strength of the 3 oppositions vary. He knew he needed to score as many as possible goals against Qatar which was why he went for a kill with 4-3-3.

The US has a very good Midfield and they retain possession a lot so a 4-2-3-1 which is a variant if 4-5-1 will have more men in the Midfield to contest the ball.

As for the Ukraine game the set up I saw more of 4-3-3 and not 4-1-4-1. I knew the Ukraine game would be easier than the US game: (1) they were already through and would want to rest payers (2) they are not a ball possessing side like the USA so our boys will see plenty of the balls.

From what I have seen so far I don't think any player there deserves a straight call up to the Super Eagles yet. Some may progress to the U23 though.

Yes! I wrote Kalika but auto correct changed it to Malika. grin

I think we were harsh on Tijani. That was the best he could offer, and that is not his fault. He did all he could running around, trying to jump and he won two penalties. Now I will channel my disappointment to the coach who chose him. He put the poor lad on the hot seat. I think he is not good enough for the position he was put in. Positives from the match,
1. Ofoborh, makanjuola, Igho, and May be Okon can probably progress to under 23.

this you don't change a winning team is outdated please.

are you gonna compare the US and Qatar...everyone knows even the second 11 will whip teams like Qatar,Tahiti and Honduras etc...it is a know fact

for the fact a team wins a match does not mean the tape should not be re-watched and necessary changes should not be made prior the next march...

Nothing like that. As long as national team competitions are concerned, coaches most often stick with same line up after a good win in their first game. Changes may actually be due to injury or suspension.

Club football is different from national team football.

Assuming for the US game he made changes to the team that played Qatar, same peeps would ask "why change a winning team?''

Ofoborh is class though he doesn't have an athletic physique. Boy can ball, he is full of brains.

I wonder why nobody has said anything about how Igho was messed up in the build up to the Ukrainian goal.

So anything still fit happen as d tournament progress smiley

Yet they got to the final.

The Saudi 89 set after winning their first game against the Saudis lost 1-0 in the second game to as at then lowly rated Portuguese team only to snatch a second half equalizer against Czechoslovakia to book a place in the Q/Final with our today's equivalent of 4pts. (A win was 2pts then). Nigeria still got to the final and Portugal turned out eventual winners.

His overall display was really good. For the goal, there are several blames to go around.

I bet none of u can play football just going by the way you talk. Some days nothing will work out on the pitch but that doesn't mean the quality isn't there.

Tijani was poor this i have already admitted but he made things happen. Without him we would be on the next flight home.

He slipped. No big deal. The keeper and the defender who was supposed to be tracking the opposing striker messed up. Especially the goalkeeper (who you had already tipped to make the Senior Team). undecided

Some people are very funny. How can you blame keeper and the defender for that goal but exonerate the defender that slipped for that goal?

I even read where someone said Tijani took penalty in the same direction but after I saw the replay of the first half, I realized he lied big time.

I am not the one that supports a team doomed to failure by poor coaching and player selection

It is you that has a lot to learn

Except you have another nationality to claim you should never prophecy doom for your national team no matter the circumstances.

You think you are the only one seeing lapses in that team?
