I mean your leading only those flowers, tea and avocado. Don't tell me people can survive while you concentrate to produce these.

Yes Kenya leads Africa in
Tea
Avocado
Horticulture
Milk

Listen here kenya is not blessed like Tanzania with abundant natural resources
We depend on tea ,horticulture , avocado for foreign exchange
And again kenya is 89% arid meaning only 11% of kenya land is good for agriculture
And kenyans do farm food crops like maize and beans etc but it is never enough
But Tanzania has huge arable lands you harvest bumper harvests every year
So that is why you will sell us your maize
And again this year the rains failed us so we expect to import more food from Tanzania ,Uganda etc that is why we are neighbours

I think in the insurance industry it is where we are doing great. It's great hearing that now even pastoralists can insure their cattle against drought among other natural occurring calamities!

A total of 870,000 dollars has been paid to pastoralists this year,2019 as insurance cover for drought! This is commendable! We need more pastoralists to take up this cover! Being more than 80% arid, such a move is commendable!

I was meant to understand how deeply corrupt the county Governor of the Kajiado county (Which ronga falls) , and that most roads contracts has been awarded yet nothing is done?.

Some roads have been worked on while some are yet to be.I think the problem is the contractor awarded the tender, very slow in project implementation.

and thats the African spirit, brotherhood, let me tell you the story of Nigerians in Kenya, contrary to what you hear or read in newspapers, there are many Nigerians who are doing legit businesses here, some import toys from U.K, i know one around donholm area in Nairobi, many do online writing and transcription others are students, the truth is that many Africans are always intimidated by the Nigerian confidence. nigerians know that if you can survive in Nigeria, you can survive pretty much everywhere in africa. Nigerian culture is very dominant here in kenya, from movies to music, tv shows and even reality Tv. did you know that nigerian music and movies enjoy more air play than even hollywood in our local media?, i thought you should know

Well same here...........I love watching national geographic.....I always anticipate to see Kenya, tanzania and I'm always here to see the beautiful pictures of African countries......it gives me hope that one day we will get there.

Very true, some local contractors are extremely hogwash in project competency. No wonder the government rarely awards the local contractors the construction tender.

Well, Nigeria has always been an open market since its inspection, the issues with Nigeria is , one has to up his/her games by capitalizing on many challenges here, if you do this, the sky will be ur limit.

Kenya has led Africa in allocation of funds to the education sector for the last 6 years, with allocation accounting to over 23% of the national budget, these is one of the reason, Kenyan graduates are more than the entire east Africa graduates combined. education is what will drive Africa going forward not natural resources.

We also have private airlines. It's quite sad Nigeria cannot manage a national carrier due to incompetence. It's not rocket science, you can even have 3 planes like Tanzania and pretend to be proud of it.
We have 7 new and not old like yours. 2- Airbus 220-300,3-Bomberdier dash 8 q400,1 dash8-q300, 1-Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner another come in November,

Nigeria has no companies to dominate anywhere, that's why they haven't signed. South Africans have already established niche markets in Nigeria what do you think will happen once they open up the economy? We will send Dangote packing in a few months.

Yes the govt has shifted policy to improve tvets and build new ones which is a good thing
correct, skills like plumbing, carpentry, welding and fabrication etc are the ones that pays the bills, you can end up in an unemployment corner with a degree but never with these skills, here our Govt as scored big, try visit the technical university and see what the chinese and the kenyan Govt is doing with technical skills education there.

on tanzania, i visit tanzania quite a lot, one thing i like about tanzania is the ethnic cohesion there, i mean Tanzanians don't give a damn where you come from as long as you are tanzanian, crime is almost non-existent in tanzania, there is plenty of food, i remember i ate a bowl of goat meat and rice in mwanza early this year for Kes.130, in a descent hotel not a roadside cafe. life is really cheap in Tanzania, for example in Kahama, a mining town, you can get a descent guest house for Kes.400 complete with hot water and a tv. Tanzania is not as backward as many Kenyans have always thought, although kenya is still a bit further ahead in development such education, infrastructure and healthcare, otherwise Tanzania is rising.
Nigeria don't care where you come from as long as you're from Africa. And one thing I noticed about our country is that, if you as a foreigner commit crime in Nigeria, they will keep you in a safe place and it will be hard for them to announce it on media's like others do. We have Kenyans who are living in Nigeria and doing well too.

I meant like Kenya and Nigeria have their own different shortcomings, so none can be perfect than the other in everything.
We were discussing with your fellow Nigerian at sober levels the drawbacks that our respective countries faces and possible mitigation measures that can be employed to heal the situation of both countries.
i like this tone, lets sober up, and compare like for like. Nigeria is way richer than kenya, am kenyan and i have never doubted this fact. every country in sub-saharan africa has got its strength and weakness, we should also agree that nigeria however rich it is, is still punching below its weight.

Precisely - we need to raise enrollment from 200K to 1M - this is why Jubilee has been making it hard to get university - thro mass failures - that forces people to think TIVET.

Germany is industrial giant thanks to TIVET (vocational colleges).

We don't need all that many arts degrees graduates.

cossano:
these graduates includes TVETS graduate, and yes the government is trying to channel more students towards TVETS. in the former Nyanza province, the national government is building and equiping TVETS with modern equipment i have never seen before., there is one in Nyabondo,Kisumu county i visited last week, boy i tell you it is modern, i'll post the pics soon. TVETS are the engines that will power kenyas great leap forward. i agree 100%
