Very true, some local contractors are extremely hogwash in project competency. No wonder the government rarely awards the local contractors the construction tender.

Local contractors are thugs they should do quarrying not building roads

I am being very reasonable. The lavish parts of Nigeria look like Eastlands, there is no such thing as leafy suburbs in Nigeria but concrete monstrosities without power and running water.

Some roads have been worked on while some are yet to be.I think the problem is the contractor awarded the tender, very slow in project implementation.
I am yet to see a street in Ronga with side walks and street lights, please correct me when i wrong. all roads in Lagos must be built with cover drainage, side walks, road marks and street lights

Roads in very poor areas of Lagos like Ronga areas

1. This is Ogundele Street, Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area. The new road is 605m long and 9m wide
2. Federal Low Cost bye-pass to Itoikin Rd in Ikorodu North LCD. The road is 675m long and 8m wide.
3. Martin Street, Mushin Local Government. The new road is 560m long and 9m wide.

You don't need to grow rice to eat rice. Rice, Wheat, Maize and most of these low-value crops are produced and sold cheaply in world market. When you have small arable land like kenya - you want to concentrate on high value crops - that will earn you income - enough to buy cheap food and also retains some savings & investment.

You cannot plant maize or wheat in 1 acre small-holder farmers like you've got in Kenya. You have to think about high value high yielding crops that are exported to Europe and US. And you can buy cheap maize or beans or cassava in the international market.

Kenya is transitioning into such crops.....that fetch top dollar abroad...and most importantly adding value to their produce. We are going to stop bulk export - and start selling our branded tea, coffee, nuts, avacados....that is already underway.

Acadavah:

I mean your leading only those flowers, tea and avocado. Don't tell me people can survive while you concentrate to produce these.

600m roads? The Nigerian government doesn't take its people seriously. 600m roads is a slap in the face.

i like this tone, lets sober up, and compare like for like. Nigeria is way richer than kenya, am kenyan and i have never doubted this fact. every country in sub-saharan africa has got its strength and weakness, we should also agree that nigeria however rich it is, is still punching below its weight.

Yeah correct, Nigeria is economically richer than Kenya but can I ask you a question?
Are you really a Kenyan or just a wannabe?
No hard feelings though.

You sound like a stupid Tanzanian. But I could be wrong. Where is Nyamataro. Nigeria is only rich when Oil is earning top dollars. When it tanks - the country literally also tanks. In 2010-2014 when Oil was trading at over 100 dollars a barrel - they were having a party - but when it dropped to 40s - they've been crying in the toilet. If Oil drops to 20 dollars a barrel..the country will break into revolution or a civil war.

How can a country that pays it teacher or policemen or army men about half what they earn in kenya be RICH?

A country 5 times the pop of kenya with Gov budget about equal to Kenya?

How can it be rich - when malnutrition is rampant and when it's been declared the world capital of poverty - where 70% of residents are poor.

Or you watch too much nollywood movies smiley

Arrgghh! We demolished this ishyt Idk how many times! We showed no matter how you cut it your budget per capita, the amount of budgetary allocation per Naij is wayyyyy lower than ours.

Reasons

“The tourist season is also one of the longest anywhere at 40 weeks a year, with no typhoon season or extreme weather conditions to trouble it—only the rainy season around Easter. At other times during the year, the trade winds that once powered commerce between Africa and India fuel a booming kitesurfing industry on the powder-white beaches,” says the report."

Kenya population wont equal Nigeria's population, EVERR! We have birth control remember and Kenyans are having less and less kids every year due to high literacy levels and fall in dogma. Our pop will peak at about 80 M. By then we will be as wealthy as the Asian Tigers, and Nigerians wont stop procreating and getting poorer unless they have a major turnaround.

That's Great things but even me i don't understand Nigerian budget. Nigeria has a larger GDP in africa but why low gov budget?

You have jokes! Actually you don't-you're so cognitively challenged you can't see the obvious! The GDP was never 500 bn$ even before the recession. We broke it down exhaustively last year with a sectoral analysis of their economy and found it was max 220 bn with 250 bn$ estimate being overly generous.
