Let this not take your mind from the fact that all this money China keeps giving to African countries for loans and building projects, one-day they come back for it. And if you know China well they give with their right hand and take back with their left. This is colonialism all over again. |

tactius: Looking at this article.... It says that crcc is building the railway for 2 billion
And that Sinochem, another company, will be providing 3 billion for railway construction projects.
So the total cost is 5 bn for 560km of railway lines.
Someone misinterpreted a newsreport Read it again. It is not stated that Sinochem is funding the same 2bn railway 2 Likes |

Read it again. It is not stated that Sinochem is funding the same 2bn railway I have done some more research, and the cost of the project covers the Accra, Tema and Kumasi LINE.... $2.2bn Eastern Rail Project Kicks Off April 5, 2019
Joe Ghartey (3rd right) in a photograph with the investors, Prof. Baffour and his deputy
Investors, who are to construct the $2.2 billion Eastern Railway line, have expressed their readiness to commence work as soon as possible.
The investors are under the Ghana-European Railway Consortium in which the Government of Ghana is to take a minority stake.
This came to light at the launch of the commencement of negotiations on the concession agreement for the Eastern standard gauge on Thursday, April 4, 2019, at Peduase, near Aburi in the Eastern Region.
There are expected to be 24 passenger trains and six freight coaches after completion of the 340-kilometre railway project.
The Eastern Railway line, which links Accra, Tema and Kumasi, is expected to boost economic activities especially at the Boankra Inland Ports after completion.
The construction is expected to last three years, and the consortium hopes the project will be a shining example of Ghana-German Corporation.
The German-European Railway Consortium, which is undertaking the project, has pledged to start work in earnest.
There would be six main stations, 34 sub-stations on the track, which is a double line. The consortium hopes to recoup its investment within 27 years after the construction.
Minister for Railway Development, Joe Ghartey, said the project is a Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) deal.
He stated that “the railway that we are seeking to build is a modern one, and I believe strongly that the railway sector will transform our nation in ways that you and I have not thought about yet.”
Approval
The elated minister indicated that the outcome of the negotiations would be forwarded to Cabinet for approval and afterwards sent to Parliament.
A member of the consortium, Heinz Kroczek, described the project as “a nation-building project.”
During the construction phase, he said that about 5,000 jobs would be created and an additional 3,000 jobs are expected to be created after completion.
Aside from the 8,000 jobs linked to construction and post construction, an additional 540 jobs are to be created through the establishment of rail slippers factory which is expected to manufacture 1,000 slippers daily.
He said Ghanaians would be trained in Germany as part of the deal.
History
The last time a train travelled from Kumasi to Accra was in 2001.
The Eastern line and the whole railway sector were dormant until the New Patriotic Party came to power in 2017.
During his third State of the Nation Address (SONA) on February 21, 2019, President Akufo-Addo announced that a total of $1 billion had been allocated to the development of the sector, with $500 million of that amount expected to go the Western line and $500 million for the Kumasi-Paga stretch.
Minister for Planning, Prof. Gyan Baffour, explained that government intends to revamp the rail sector in the country.
He indicated that enhanced and integrity transport network is essential for economic transformation and mobility.
CONSTRUCTION WORKS on the $2.2 billion worth Eastern railway line are expected to commence soon, DGN Online can confirm.
The investors under the Ghana-European Railway Consortium have signaled that they are ready to begin works as soon as Parliament and Cabinet approve the deal.
This came to light at the launch of the commencement of negotiation of concession agreement for the Eastern standard gauge.
Government is to take a minority share of the deal.
The project is expected to be 24 passenger trains and six freight coaches upon completion of the 340 kilometres construction.
The line links Tema, Accra and Kumasi and it is expected to boost economic activities especially at the Boankra inland ports upon completion.
The construction process, DGN Online gathered, is expected to last for three years and the Consortium “hope the project will be a shinning example of Ghana-German corporation, with the Ghana-European Railway Consortium which is undertaking the project, pledging to start work in earnest.
There will be six main stations, 34 substations on the track which is a double line, with the Consortium hoping to recoup its investment within 27 years after the three years of construction.
Minister of Railway Development, Joe Ghartey, says the project is a Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) deal and that the concession would be given for a certain number of years.
He stated that ” the railway that they are seeking to build is a modern railway. “
According to him, “I believe strongly that the railway sector will transform our nation in ways that me and you have not thought about yet.”

Realdeals: Uptill now CRCC are still paying compensation for those whose property will be destroyed for the Lagos/Ibadan railway project and maybe they won't spend so much to buy diesel in powering their project camp like they are doing in Nigeria.
Some of these variables are not constant, beside GEJ administration negotiate the contract and made part payment. see how weak u guys can be.... GEJ name will never leave u peoples mouth..... this in NIGERIA AND GHANA.... NOT PMB AND GEJ 1 Like |
