If one pays money to someone but service wasn't rendered, is it possible to initiate a refund through the bank which he/she paid into, if the person's account is still active, what are the steps to be taken? asking for a bro

Yes it is.
Just go to your bank's customer service, and explain it to them. They will give you a form to fill after which your money will be refunded if it is a genuine complaint

Don't let anyone deceive you, its not so easy.
The person you transferred the fund to must consent to it else, no bank in the World would move a dime out of anyone's account to settle non rendered services as u called it.

Someone asked and I made a thorough explanation to this in one of my recent posts. U can just pick it up from there..

You're correct. My cousin said he went to bank but they said the scammer needs to give consent. How will he consent? they now said he can get a court order if he wants. Can you post a link to the thread in question?

They will contact the bank/branch/account officer of that scammer, who will in turn contact the scammer. He will explain it just the way he/she was communicated to. Once the customer says "pls, the money isn't mine. Return it to the owner". They will initiate a reversal.

Where that doesn't work. The way out is to make a formal complaint backed with police report and court order. Even this one requires lots of cooperation between both banks. With the beneficiary's bank MOST TIMES being the problem. Except in very clear cases of fraud, that is when you see them backdown a little.

I think that this sort of refund is possible, but only by your bank. So, it would be good if you contact your bank as soon as possible in order to stop this transaction on time and return your funds. If funds are already credited to another account, it might be a bit difficult to retrieve them back
