As a young Nigerian youth working hard to make ends meet against all odds of economic and social hardship.
I am at that point where I can no longer keep quiet over fears of what might happen to me if I speak up.

Nigeria my beloved country is a wonderful nation. Instead of us to eliminate the problem from the root, most times we chose to prune the branches.

I want to emphatically state that I'm in no way in support of any kind/form of fraud or illegality but before we go about the crucifixion of Singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, we need to ask basic questions and address the problems from the roots.

The rise in the number of youths going into internet fraud shows a much more underlining societal problem that is spiraling out of control.

For a country plagued by high rate of unemployment, limited developmental opportunities and poor social infrastructures, rapid population growth, high mortality rate, economic retardation, high rate of corruption and rated the poverty capital of the world, the future and sustainable development of this nation looks bleak.

Successive governments (over the years) have had no clear vision, plan or action (like most developed and developing nations) addressing the basic problems and needs of this nation. No concrete plan, blueprint or vision that will ensure the sustainable development of this nation for years to come. The (this) lackadaisical attitude of government to provide true, inspiring and genuine leadership is mind boggling.

Many leaders just want to hold on to power without anything to offer.
They see themselves more like "Rulers" than "Leaders".

Some have been in government since I was born and are still clinging on to it. No innovation or creative problem solving expertise despite their claims of vast experience.
A vast majority of these leaders have been in power or positions of leadership right from their youths and have fully enjoyed the best of this nation in her glory days.
They haven't been able to sustain the development they met, talk less of improving development.
Countries like India, China and even Ghana, have made giant strides over the years because of visionary leadership and selfless leaders.

Many have plundered the wealth of this nation and preferred to be worshiped based on their wealth, instead of their legacy.
They prefer to flaunt their wealth, instead of their achievements and legacies.

Instead of investing in developing social and economic infrastructures that will help our nation greatly, they chose instead to travel out to enjoy these infrastructures and facilities outside the country, leaving the ordinary citizens to their fate and mercy of the very horrible state of things.

Most of them(including vice chancellors of federal institutions) have their families outside the country and send their kids to the best foreign higher institutions while our educational system is left to rot away.
With the high rate of illiteracy especially in the north due to government negligence of the educational sector and high rate of child birth due to religious and cultural beliefs, I'm afraid Nigeria is sitting on a ticking time bomb.

These leaders have succeeded in sacrificing patriotism on the wicked altar of religious, ethnic and political affiliations as well as quota system. All for their personal selfish aggradisement.

The problem with most Nigerian leaders (political, traditional and religious) is that they lack true empathy. True empathy for they future of our dear nation and its citizens, and no sympathy even when they see the disastrious effects of their poor leadership.

Patriotism is dead because the youths cannot feel the impact or value of the nation on their lives. Massive looting and corruption has eroded and is still eating away the fabrics of this nation.
A nation that does not value the lives of its citizens.

Doing business in Nigeria is one of the most difficult in the world. From multiple taxation and poor government policies, to lack of basic amenities such as power supply, to high insecurity rate(kidnappings, killings, etc), to outright police/SARS harassment, the list is endless.

Those at the helm of affairs do not care about the future of this nation, the only thing most care about is the amount of looting that can be carried out while in power.
A nation where the government doesn't listen to its people or value their opinions(e.g the end SARS campaign).
A nation where the government prefers to give it's citizens peanuts(In the name of social intervention programs that this country isn't rip for), instead of creating a conducive environment for development by massively investing not in social welfare programs but social amenities and infrastructures that will make the creation and circulation of wealth possible.

A government where the youths are not given enough opportunities to be actively involved in innovative governance.
The sad truth is that our system of government is not only wasteful, unproductive and lacks vision but it also lacks empathy for the future of our nation.

How do we expect our youths to be positively productive, when there's no conducive environment that supports innovation, creativity and hard work with benefits?

Nigerian youths are not lazy, we just lack the incentives and encouragement to effectively make positive changes.
Many have left this country out of frustration by the system and many more are still planning to leave in droves.
We are losing massive professional human resources because of the rot in the system and government's negligence.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC), should realize that it is responsible for investigating and prosecuting "Economic" crimes first, before "Financial" crimes. Crimes against the society,massive looting by those in government/power irrespective of political affiliations.

If we really want to put an end to this Yahoo menace in our society, the government needs to do more than just arresting and procecuting them.
An idle mind is the devil's play ground.
This ugly trend as well as other anti social vices will not stop, infact they will only increase overtime as long as our leaders refuse to tackle the problem from the root and not just pruning the tree.

While most young men are turning to internet fraud, theft, cultism and kidnapping, our ladies are turning to various forms of prostitution and other social vices. Frustration, anger, depression and suicide has become very prevalent in our society today.

Before we crucify Naira Marley and other Nigerian youths, let us also crucify and hold those that are truly responsible and accountable for the state of our nation.

Let's advocate for good quality leadership and sustainable development.

Are we all not under the same leaders ? Or you think some of us don't like benz?

You’re on point but there’s still one question I always ask and nobody has ever answer me.
Please all the money, properties and gadget this so called efcc always collected from all these guys where does it went to?,
Are they running charity organization?,
What did they do with it?.
If these questions can’t be answer, then they’re also scammer and people should stop praising them for nonsense work they’re doing.
Not all these guys they arrested they charge to court, they collect money from them inform of bail and it’s not thousands but millions of Naira.
Please what did they use all these money for?, I swear naija can’t be a better place again.
