. ETHIOPIA: Addis Ababa - Djibouti's 756km line is double track, electrified and built at the cost of $3.4 billion by same contractor, CCECC. This means it cost about $4.4 million (N1.5 billion) per kilometre NIGERIA: Lagos -Ibadan's 156km line is single track, non-electrified but built at the cost of $1.5 billion.by same CCECC. This means it cost about $9.6million (N3.4 billion) per kilometre - more than double the Ethiopia line https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/1-5bn-lagos-ibadan-fast-rail-fec-gets-cost-overrun-request-from-amaechi.html https://www.africanews.com/2017/06/13/ethiopia-vs-kenya-the-chinese-standard-gauge-rails-compared/ 8 Likes 5 Shares

If you are going to compare, at least equip yourself with detailed facts like specifications and factors like rail tunnels, rail bridges, rail stations and so on. Peddling figures and making blind comparisons based on figures without facts and details is ignorance and mental laziness. Lazy Nigerian youths 22 Likes 2 Shares |

deomelo: Eductated Nigerian youth, please can you tell us how a longer and more sophisticated railway project built by the same company will cost less, or was the Nigerian rail built on water or land reclaimed from sea? Mind you, the Ethiopian railway was completed in six years, we are still dragging our feet here for decades. Disgusting humans like you will go to the ends of the earth to defend a clear case of corruption when it favours your pockets. Your hypocrisy stinks to high heavens, bunch of bloody sycophants, enemies of state, enemies of progress, fair-weather activists, brown-envelope critics. 15 Likes 3 Shares |

JAWBONE: It's like asking why my new Lexus car cost more than your new Lexus car even though I paid extra for more options, premium trim, better rims, extended warranty and so on You can not debate anything about cost until you see what was ordered, the specs and contingencies. I know it's all hatred, politics and tribalism as usual with you people, but damn, are you people this shallow and unintelligent for real? 2 Likes 1 Share |

deomelo: If you are talking about extras here, it's the Ethiopian one that should then cost more. Don't try to spin this around. Corruption is clearly involved in the Nigerian. A governorship aspirant in Lagos state made reference to this in the last elections. 5 Likes 2 Shares

The Ethiopian rail project was an UPGRADE from metre-guage to standard guage. Lagos-Ibadan project is not an upgrade. They have different financial implications. 4 Likes 1 Share |
