MTN uses band 7 and 20. Band 7 is present on both Chinese and Global Version but Band 20 is present only on the Global Version.

So if you use the CN RN7 and you are in a location with only band 20 deployed am sorry you won't get MTN 4G.

Switch your device to LTE Only and see. Sometimes you can't trust all these network operators messages

It's not it. I was in Nsukka and was using mtn 4g on both of my mtn lines. Now in onitsha, my house, I can't see mtn 4g but if I go to the market, like 5 minutes drive from my house I see mtn 4g on both of my mtn lines. If I'm in the house I use mtn 4g on my Router. That's what I'm using presently, Wi-Fi on 4g. The 4g coverage is not strong on your area that's why your phone is not detecting it, try using MIFI, I'm sure you'll get 4g coverage on it

If there is LTE in your area it means it is band 20 which the Chinese version don't have.

Try to get a harvilon MIFI or any unlocked MIFI like Glo's that supports all LTE Bands present in Nigeria.

Meaning in your house there is only band 20 but 5 minutes from your location there is band 7 present and your phone picks up the 4G signal
