That's why Kenya is asking for a better deal from the Chinese regarding the remaining part of our railway,we are basically the link of the BRI in Africa.I understand that our officials are the ones playing hardball demanding a 50 % loan and 50 % grant on the remaining section of the SGR.We deserve a better deal! mtisTheQubit: 1 Like |

gallivant:exactly ..18% of 400b...would place them so highly I don't think even South Africa or Egypt would measure.Fake GDP.VW sold 14 cars after assembling 32.In South Africa 0.5m new cars are manufactured. Its like their agro...they claim to be big but no Nigeria ship has been found on high seas with Nigerian crops or livestock...apart from a few with cocoa beans.know of any 5th or 6th world largest agro producers that is amongst world largest food importer.... nearly every food surplus country has them as target...they basically export crude and buy refine petrol & food. That is Nigeria cookie and how it's crumble. 3 Likes |

Stevoh18:The current legislative is allowing telecoms to placed their deposit in banks.....but with current trends of the money that passes thru this medium, i foresee telecoms company applying for digital banking license which will be a total game changer to traditional banking . All traditional bank now must sit tight or advance a new strategy. I also foresee digital money market growing. More smart-phones'll continue to be produced. That's a huge OPPORTUNITY to make cool cash fixing(vocational skills is now getting more important) A service business puts money in Ur pocket. IT skills will be needed more ( the Data must be protected) in fact it is going to be a complete game changer. 1 Like 1 Share |

Vax, banks need to cooperate with telecoms or they also need go to telecom. Most Kenyan banks have done the cooperation & sharing costs...Equity went rogue and got telecom license...using sim swap. The reality now 95% of Kenyan banking is thro telecom...branches are going out. 1 Like |

samorobo: Dude! The whole continent won't be developed by 2080. As it is right now some are regressing already. Poverty in Nigeria for instance will keep rising untill maybe the next decade at the earliest. Few will be developed by 2080. But its true Africa is the future. Why do I find myself wondering if Buhari has the capacity to deliver the things you are hyping? He's uneducated to start with. I usually wonder if he understands complex things in a boardroom meeting. |

rvp20182:equity had made a giant step. There is going to be serious issue in the future. This is what we must accept. Except for the banks with much more innovative idea. The largest share of mobile money deposits in Ghana rest with Fidelity Bank; followed by Ecobank and CAL Bank. In Ghana you can even get your dividends paid thru mobile money. And This means that mobile money can become digital banks since there is a lot of vunerability to cash transaction — banks might no longer be custodians of the mobile money accounts if telecom's apply for digital banking licence . The situation will be disruptive to traditional banks. 1 Like |

It will be a game changer. Our banks have already embraced digital banking! I think our banks are the most innovative in Africa when it comes to that front! We are now talking of blockchain and AI technologies! We are ahead of many in Africa when it comes to embracing this disruptive innovations. As a matter of fact,we have a task-force formed by our president on task to establish how we as a country can fully harness and benefit from blockchain technology! vaxx: 2 Likes

obaaderemi: Not sure where to start with. Once again Nigeria and co will not be part of a major global trade route. Very unfortunate because the way global commerce works is such that if you are not in the mainstream you are left behind with breadcrumbs. This is actually a very sad moment for much of Africa. As you can see the One Belt Road has intertwined European economies even further and linked them to Asia. Africa, once again and as ever before is largely sidelined. This thing will define the future of the global economy that China will largely dictate. We are back to the Silk Road days of yore. The exception is Kenya. Whether by design, luck or geographical determinism I dont know. The bottomline is that the future economy will be further skewed in favor of the linked countries. Kenya will benefit so much from the belt, and to some extent this benefit will go inwards esp to the Congo area. Too bad if Congolese dont use their brains because they are the target trophy and Kenya might be accused of milking them dry. The Chinese need those minerals so bad they would even forfeit the entire loan if we defaulted. Forget about economic alliance with Japan. They are inward-looking since the Hiroshima catastrophe. They dont have time for partnerships with Africans on any serious scale. As it is, any developing country that does not take advantage of China's meteoric rise will be doomed - literally. 1 Like |

obaaderemi: what should worry you is that an East African airline (our neighbor) is taking over West African skies. Not to talk of the fact that your own airline's revival was dead on arrival. And you call yourselves giants. Why not take over Ghana's airline and revive it if you are giants ![]() 1 Like |
