Hello house, I am trying to book for visa appointment for my mum but I keep getting a message that there are no dates available. However when I was I filling her in the details on the appointment site I saw that October 2nd was available in abuja. Anyone experienced anything similar to this? |

iyaaliya: I very much doubt the VOs are angry about birthright citizenships. I think the issue is there is no way you can pay $4000 for a full birth and someone somewhere isn’t picking up the slack. The typical American pays 3x that amount for the exact same procedure. Unfortunately they don’t have the luxury of “discounts” that Nigerians magically find. If someone else was coming to take advantage of your hard earned taxes, you’d tighten the rules too. The VOs are simply asking folks to pay the going rate for a normal birth. 1 Like |

TWoods: Right! However, most women who have found themselves needing to pay the discounted birthing fees for birthing in the US tends to blame it on the hospitals that are offering them the discounts bills because they're paying in total cash. So at times , the blame also has to go on the hospitals too. 1 Like |

good morning everyone on this thread and to all the gurus thanks for your great job, I have a burning question and it might be a lengthy, cos it has a story line. sometime ago I helped my sister and her children apply for the US visitors visa. they went for the interview but the children's details weren't found, which I was totally surprised. did everything in rectifying it but to no avail. so she was the only granted visa, I tried to incorporate the kids make lots of calls to the embassy still it wasnt rectified, because of the whole drama she could make the trip and finally visa expired. now she intends applying with the kids again and handed me the responsibility of again helping to apply. please kindly advice on how I go about it without having same issues. I am still traumatized after the last experience. thanks |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by TWoods(m): 4:50am On Jun 07, 2019 |
Beautyaddy: Blaming the hospital is dishonest. Most people know that hospitals often do not ask if you're a citizen or not. They assume that self-pay are typically indigent and thus should qualify for discounts that the government ends up reimbursing them for. 1 Like |

seyewest: In as much as i appreciate this forum, i wouldnt quite blame her for talking that way. The most annoying part is that people that dont even have an international passport talk more of leaving the shores of Nigeria, can just make irrelevant judgements based on what they read or talk anyhow. There are subtle ways of giving your opinions without hurting people. Things have changed at the us embassy. What works for A maynot work for B. There are no set rules in answering questions. Things are easier said than done on nairaland. When you get to the embassy you will understand that most times, you are not even given the opportunity to clearly express yourself, as you are interrupted or cut short during interviews. However, no doubt, birthing issues have been a major concern for the USA. If only they can set a standard on birthing prices and all then i don't think people would have problems renewing visas because honestly most people outside nairaland arent even aware they cant accept certain discounts. 3 Likes |

I taya. I have been following that posts and I don’t know why she is quick to use a single experience to talk down on a coalition of experiences here. While opinions must always always differ, you shouldn’t use a single experience of 4K medical bill to say peeps are just guess working when we have seen several other posters with close to 10k being denied and you want people to advise using your 4K standard?? Saying people carry US for head, people fear US nobody talks, when did we start pokenosing into other countries ‘s affairs. If you Cannot comply substantially, you stay in your house! I am not saying you cannot even challenge them, go ahead and give us feedback; shebi our lawmakers summoned them the other time but please don’t undermine the hard work of the contributors here and don’t make people think getting the visa is not ‘hard work’’. This same country opened up their doors to you to have an automatic citizenship for your children, yet; someone will still come and say nothing dey happen. If they shut that door today, some of us will say thank God oh, I don born mine Comot yet; you don’t want to accept them as your ‘meal ticket’. Hypocrisy! Even though I feel bad with the way they treat us at their embassies n POEs but if we don’t stop taking advantage of their seemingly friendly system, we are likely to continue to get that treatment unfortunately! We all know how many multiples they give other countries. Can we then say they are ‘irrational or unnecessarily mean’ to us? We will be addressed the way we present ourselves! seyewest: 3 Likes |

I will agree with you but then we know some things remain the standard whichever way we want to see this visa issues. There are still standards we know from time immemorial that once you don’t meet up, it is a No for them. Now, think of the recent developments in their visa policies and you will agree that the standard will be higher. A wise applicant will think of the worst case scenario and prepare. Forget those ones who don’t have passports, focus on your end goal and prepare very well taking into consideration all the ‘gibberish’ that have also helped people here not making people to prepare using someone else’s lower standard (that well, fortunately worked for the person). To me, this forum is to make you look deeper into your circumstances and evaluate yourself before one will go waste 65k and/or a ban on top...hiannn. Yes, there was a time going to buy wedding dress and or shopping for wedding in the US means nothing to them but right now it appears to be a ‘silly reason’ to them. That’s is the applicant’s reality and the truth but not enough reason to give visa. Conference was the deal back then but we know what it looks like now. See, there will always be people who know nothing about stuff here but you see, from the message of a mad man sometimes, lies the truth not even saying the experienced ones here oh from whom we have gained a lot either we got the visa or not! So to me, it is somehow for someone to just come and be talking down on people’s efforts. I am sure no one loves that but well.... All in all, set your self above the standard not some go and apply, nothing dey happen levels. Note please that this is not to support some rude/overzealous comments here but someone like me will take the message and ignore the messenger ishh. Ebalu953: 2 Likes |

I understand your point. I don't want to doubt that 4K payment for birthing and the fact that she got visa renewed afterwards since I wasn’t there so I am not even going to comment on that. My problem with the post is that it is making that as a standard for birthing and visa renewal while tryna rubbish some good works here. We all know 4K is not the standard, if you got it that low, we thank God for journey mercies, drop your testimony and go home in peace! TWoods: |

Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by OmoBendel24: 9:19am On Jun 07, 2019 |
TWoods: The VOs may possibly not be angry about birthright citizenship with our people, but you lot NIGERIAN-AMERICANS ARE, so many of you and it's such a shame please! Is this plain pain, envy, or witchcraft? huh? @the second bolded; We've heard this over and over, please, do tell who is picking the slack, make it clear and verifiable too, don't take us on a roller-coaster sir! And you just decide to blame Nigerians basically for the shortcomings (if that is even correct) of your health system, shortcomings they are still not aware of till now? Doctoresparati's Rep - Vlesparza - has been on NL debunking this notion of "someone else is paying for the shortcomings of these discounts", and none of you lot has been able to counter her with real and not imaginary facts. Were Nigerians not getting visas approved for them with quotes from these doctors and hospitals/facilities just in recent past? Tell us what the current situation is in CLEAR TERMS and I believe our people will adjust to such realities.... 5 Likes |

OmoBendel24: Nigerian Americans are not angry about birthright citizenship because of envy. Envious of who really? Thousands of Latinos, Asians and even many of my Nigerian friends have done this and are still doing this. I’ve got Nigerian friends here in Houston who I’m helping navigate through the process. Vlesparza runs a business that requires foreigners to birth in the US. It’s his/her livelihood. What do you expect? I posted the facts here on how this works over a year ago... no one was interested in listening... as long as you lot get your “discounts”, screw the facts. I think this idea that urging people to do the right thing is because of envy is laughable to me. 3 Likes |

Rolly22: This is the problem with using agents. They MISREPRESENT you to a nation with a system that thrives on Data Collection and Analysis. Tomorrow you want to renew and your profile becomes HR Manager at XYZ for the past 8 Years. If you aren't comfortable with it, walk away 3 Likes |

We (my family) submitted our international passports for Dropbox since April 11 and it’s been showing application received on check status The major thing now is that we need our passports for another visa and it’s time bound. Please, who knows how I can retrieve the our passports from USA embassy( We have few days left) Thanks |
