I intend to purchase for my dad a Honda Odyssey 2004 model so I went out to speak to some japanses auto mechanics out here in benin and most have been giving me negative feedback in regards to the Odyssey. I don't want to buy Toyota sienna because it's way too common and I strongly dislike the shape of the old model and the recent one. The 4 cylinder I think 2000 to 2002 had serious gear problem and highly underpowered but the V6 and 03 to 04 i4 were fixed.

The car design is a complete turnoff to me, it is the real big for nothing.

The body falls apart after long use, the rear leg work are prone to negative camber but I believe the shocks is better than sienna at the rear.

The materials used In the underbody lack water protection so expect rust in underbody if area is waterlogged or muddy. Worse if the vehicle is from Canada.

Above all I did advice if you intend to make the car a keeper the body after several years would make the value extremely low. That year itself has a very bad resale value for a minivan Nissan quest get rep pass am

Nope, sienna and previa body wise for first generation S are stronger and more durable.

sienna doesn't have camber issues, no factory gear defect and the body is rock solid than Odyssey.

since you have made-up your mind on the Odyssey ensure the specimen is in good condition and rust free and stay away from 00-03 due to gear wahala

1999-2004 American spec only had the v6 engine variant fitted in them

transmission issue is notorious on those models

just like the baby boy v6,pilot,mdx,eod,tl and all those with the early models 3.5l engine

go for 05 and above if u must do the odyssey

buy only 2002 to 2004 with the 5speed transmission the 1999 to 2001 with 4 speed transmission was very unreliable.

but above all if you aren't bothered about space the Honda shuttle would be more appropriate the Odyssey is prone to rust and deformity.

odysseys from 95-04 were bleh. The epic units started in 05.

Transmission in 2nd gen Odyssey was terrible. The 3rd generation starting from 05 had good transmissions. That's what I meant

Ok thanks. Am tryin to get d honda odyssey/shuttle. I thinks its 1997/98 model for T/P biz. I never see clean one or atleast manageable one.

Get a sienna, someone in nairaland is selling his 98-2000 for 500k. I haven't checked it out and if you're going, do due diligence. Thanks.
