It seems the appointment dates you will find are from November. That's if you can access the appointment page. I hope you aren't doomed.
Is it because they all filled?
I noticed something tho, when I pick Abuja Embassy, there appears to be available dates (not 100% sure tho), but when I pick the Lagos Consulate, then there's no available date.

Is the Lagos one typically like that most of the time? Does it mean I have to go all the way to Abuja for an interview?

I think you need to pick Abuja Embassy appointment fast before the dates are taken. Please confirm if there are still available dates in Abuja . The only additional cost you would incure are flights to and fro Abuja

Hey guys, see me see wahala o!!
I'm trying to make an appointment for the Lagos consular office. After paying all the fees etc, now it gets time to make the appointment and they say
"There are currently no appointments available".
I'm due to resume school by August for my next semester. What do I do? Will appointments open up at some point?
Why are there no appointments available? Am I doomed or what?

As Nigerians, we find it difficult to plan months ahead. Knowing full well you planned to return to Nigeria in the summer, and that thousands of students are also applying for new f1 visas, trying to renew expired visas, including tourists seeking visit visas... you should have booked an appointment months ago.

Your only option is to request an emergency appointment. The problem is that there are probably many in the same situation and only a limited number of consular officers... hopefully you get lucky.

Under normal circumstances , you would have a good chance. But there is nothing normal under this current US administration. Imagine people trying to get appointment for interview and getting messages like "no appointment dates are available."
These are terrible times for America tourists like me. I would advice you guys to go on vacation else where like UK,Netherlands,Australia,Canada etc. for now. When grandma is seventy-five years old(by then Trump would be out)you guys can consider US again.
My visa expires December,2019 my brother i have given up trying to renew for now until the dust settles

Wow, thank you. Hopefully the interview goes well.

I did plan many months ago but there were circumstances beyond me that delayed me to this point.

The trump administration is not the problem. They are simply enforcing existing rules more strictly to cope with the increasing influx of immigrants into the US. Unfortunately the unprecedented influx of entitled South Americans from across the Mexican border has made things 10x worse and forcing USCIS to tighten entry requirements. Quite sad.

Let’s also be mindful... there are not thousands of US consular officers in Nigeria. There are probably less than 20 who have to deal with thousands of applicants daily... there are only 24 hours in a day and 365 days in a year. Unfortunately not everyone will get an appointment date ASAP... some who are booking appointments late will have to wait a while longer.

If I for instance, pick Abuja, can I at some point switch back to Lagos if the opportunity pops back up? For me it has been a complicated situation. I just arrived Lagos from the North few days ago for a program. That was the main reason for delaying it because there were uncertainties surrounding my situation. Now, this is adding a new situation — going back and forth opposite ends of the country.

Pick Abuja quickly... get a date now and worry about everything else later.

I doubt if you can find any available appointment date in lagos any time soon because some people have paid agents who sleep on US visa appointment pages refreshing the pages constantly to find any dates as a result of cancelled appointments. And the pay the agents take is commensurate to your to and fro flight tickets if not more.
If you have the flight money why don't you book the Abuja appointment. The combined duration of the to and fro Abuja flight is about 1hr 30 mins.

good evening everyone on this thread and to all the gurus thanks for your great job, I have a burning question and it might be a lengthy, cos it has a story line.
sometime ago I helped my sister and her children apply for the US visitors visa. they went for the interview but the children's details weren't found, which I was totally surprised. did everything in rectifying it but to no avail. so she was the only granted visa, I tried to incorporate the kids make lots of calls to the embassy still it wasnt rectified, because of the whole drama she could make the trip and finally visa expired. now she intends applying with the kids again and handed me the responsibility of again helping to apply. please kindly advice on how I go about it without having same issues. I am still traumatized after the last experience. thanks

Is American visa easy to get?To get interview appointment alone one has to sleep on his laptop for days. After that you go for interview and the probabilty of success is about 10%. Do you go for interview for Netherland(Schengen) ,Canadian,Australian or UK visa and the probability of getting it is far more than the 10% success rate of US visa. My wife, daughter and my humble self all have canadian visa with the exception of my son who was born in Houston. And we all got it the first time we applied.Renewed again and got 5 years visa. So what is difficult in getting Canadian visa?

Canada needs people and so may be one of the reasons why their visas might be easy to get lately. Moreover, the rate of people overstaying their legal allowed presence in the Canada might not be as high as the US.

During my first and only interview,US embassy advised we should drop it(DS-160 form) behind. Only go with stuffs that can increase your eligibility for the visa. Eg . Last six months Payslips, last six months account statement,Marriage certificate, picture evidence of travel history, hotel booking confirmation,Employment letter etc
Although, they might not request to see any of this during your interview.

Why don't you use the emergency appointment link and indicate in it that you're making this appointment for school purposes whose resumption date is for August.

Are you a returning student with an expired F-1 visa?

This made me laugh.. August? I applied in April and my appointment is in August. That was two months ago

Hi Guys,
Please what are the chances for a family of 4 going to the u.s for a vacation, along with their grandma; both parents are working and bring in up to a mil monthly and the kids are ages 19 and 11? One's in university and the other in secondary school. The grandma is working and has a very good income as well. They would like to travel for her 70th birthday and just to have fun and leisure time. Location is in dallas, where a brother lives, he's a citizen with a family and a good job.
Please what are the likely questions to be asked and how would they be able to prove home ties?
Also, how best do you put across that you you're just going for a vacation? (The proposed travel time in the ds-160 is between july-september and they want to spend 3 weeks). (They have been to the u.s once (mother, kids and grandma),about 12 years ago and have taken a family trip to s.a 4 years ago. Both parents have a lot of travel history.)

Thankyou

I will advise you to go ahead with the application, you have nothing to worry about because the husband and wife have good travel history and can afford the trip, as for grandma, if she's fit to travel she will be issued a visa.
Give it a go and fill your form well, no falsification and please always say the truth.. As for the interview, make sure the father take the lead in answering question on behalf of the family.

Assumption right........

Peoples will continue misusing that US visa until they finally receive sense with their Visa application policy...

Canada issued visa for the genuine applicant by verifying whatever documents u got with very good account statement.

It would.Just as i was about reading your message. I heard on CNN that Trump was considering Temporary Status or Asylum for Venezualans. Who would have thought Trump would make that kind of statement? It was alleged that because of the upcoming elections he wants to soften his stance on immigration. Maybe later he might be worried about Nigerian-Americans leaning towards the democratic party wink .What's happening now is what i call in pidgin english "INITIAL GRA GRA". Dust will settle. Presidential election is approaching

They don't have to receive sense, they can just continue to deny 99% of folks who come to the embassy for a visa. Easy.

Why should it be their responsibility to verify that your documents are genuine? they don't have to do that in civilized climes where people won't even contemplate fraud.

Medicine and the individual is in year 4. It's a reputable federal university.
As at the time intended for the journey, he would've completed exams to get to year 5
