Majority of Black South Africans live under minimum wage...70% is a good estimate. Y'all suffering from mental slavery and laziness... stupid drunks.

LMFAO, you seem a bit humbled and tamed by my last post though grin. Let's say 70% of us are dirt poor drunks living under minimum wage, doesn't it hurt that we have everything that you cross dangerous seas for ? grin. You must migrate to experience 24hrs of power, tap water , roads without gigantic potholes etc . These are things we also didn't have 25 years ago but today we have made possible for ourselves, when will you start "working hard " to improve your own situation , so that your future generations won't be humiliated as illegal immigrants everywhere?. We live in poverty yet our standards of living are higher than yours 25 years on , and over 50years on you still squatting under palm trees to relieve yourselves and I'm talking 70% of your population ( this is from the UN and your FG ). You have the worst type of poverty than any nation in the world and you thought you would mock the blacks who had it worse than most of Africa 25 years ago but today live better than most Africans?. Mental slavery is thinking you can only make it when you go to a white man's country , even if you swim there via the dangerous Mediterranean sea grin. You will never see black South Africans praising whiteness , that is more a nigerian thing lol.LMFAO , I told you that you are the biggest joker on this thread.

Not particularly bothered either way, but...

First, Ghana did NOT deport 700K Nigerians (Nigerian formal investment in the Ghanaian economy runs into hundreds of millions of US dollars), and while Cameroon forcefully returned some refugees from the Boko Haram insurgency, almost 40K Southern Cameroonian are presently living in refuge in Nigeria.

South Africans nonetheless have to realize that almost every working Nigerian household/family made PERSONAL sacrifices for their liberation. Every Nigerian worker in our parents generation had to cough up at least 2.5% of their gross wages towards the Southern African Relief Fund (that catered for South African, Zimbabwean and Namibian refugees).

Nigeria inflicted significant economic harm on itself by refusing to do business with companies and countries that supported the apartheid South African regime, culminating in the expulsion of and nationalization (albeit with compensation) of the Nigerian subsidiaries and trading assets of Barclays Bank (became Union Bank), Standard Bank (became First Bank), BP (became AP or African Petroleum and presently Forte Oil), and Esso (became Eagle Petroleum, and presently Conoil). We ceded lucrative markets by refusing to sell our highly sought-after light crude oil to many Western countries (while donating free oil supplies to the five “Frontline States” bordering South Africa), and even denied Coca-Cola an operational and manufacturing license in Nigeria (leaving them to continue to rely on the Hellenic Bottling Company to franchise Coca-Cola products in Nigeria, through their subsidiary Nigerian Bottling Company).

Additionally, Nigeria provided FREE university and tertiary education for scores of South Africans and financed scholarships for many others. Nigeria also deployed considerable financial and other resources towards the campaign against apartheid across the world, culminating in Nigeria effectively assuming effective permanent control of the UN’s (standing) Special Committee Against Apartheid at the UN headquarters in New York City (initially set up in 1962), as from the 1970s onward with each Nigerian Permanent Representative virtually automatically anointed as the Chairperson of the Special Committee (except for a year or two in the mid-1970s, apparently following Gowon’s overthrow) until it’s disbandment in 1994 after the demise of apartheid and following free elections in South Africa.

It’s a shame that history is such a non-valued subject/commodity in much of Africa, because the Nigeria-South African roots run much DEEPER AND LONGER than the present generation appreciates. There’s a reason that, even during our GRANDPARENTS’ generation, Nigeria was the very FIRST place that Nelson Mandela sought political exile when he was first declared personae non-grata by the apartheid government of South Africa, arriving in Nigeria in the early 1960s (where he lived in the personal house of then Parliamentary Secretary, Mbazulike Amaechi, before deciding to return to South Africa to go underground in support of the military struggle), and why Nigeria was one of his first ports of call following his release in 1993 after 27 years in prison (and during which the Babangida government made a significantly large dollar donation to finance the electioneering campaigns of the ANC for South Africa’s first free elections ever).

For the avoidance of any doubt, none of the foregoing entitles Nigerians to a special status in South Africa, nor should earn them permanent or automatic immunity, but it should caution the beneficiaries of our collective sacrifices to treat individuals offenders individually without blacklisting an entire nation and its people or resorting to the sort of barbaric stereotypes visited upon them during apartheid.
>

Rubbish !

Fact still remains Nigerians are very lawless and go about committing crimes in every single country you find them.

You are not even bothered by the criminal nature of Nigerians which is the issue here but rather go off on what Nigerian has done for SA.

Not surprised at all.

Define hard working and lazy for me , this might be an interesting exchange.

An average Nigerian is hard working, and can survive under any circumstance. The problem is that this hard work and perseverance can sometimes be channeled into negative vices.
South Africa is a fertile ground for drug trafficking, because of it's citizens. If there is no market, the trade ll reduce. Why do these Nigerian drug mules not ply their trade in Nigeria? Its simply not a thriving business here.
Nigerians are not all bad, not even a majority. But unfortunately, the actions of a few can very much taint everyone

Show me any country where the average citizen is not hardworking ?. How do you people think nations are built, particularly the nations you migrate to for " greener pastures ",?. Do you think they were prayed into existence ?.

South Africa like many other tourist destinations, cosmopolitan countries , and countries with poverty has fertile ground for illicit drugs , look at America, Thailand, the UK etc . No one is denying this, but I'm shocked by yalls denial of your involvement . The biggest issue as you see on the comments on that Facebook page is not drug dealing or usage , but Nigerians kidnapping and luring gullible young girls into their filth. I personally don't give a damn when a willing adult uses drugs, but when you use vulnerable kids and kidnap people, that is when the Society at large runs after you. And in my earlier post I asked you guys to check out human trafficking cases in south Africa and see how most of them have your people all over them .

I know there are good Nigerians out there , but let's be honest, compared to the miscreants you unleash on every country .......they seem insignificant.

now you're getting me annoyed already.I said stop talking about Nigerian investors in Ghana because it gets us annoyed. They repatriate their profits back to their country and I don't know why I should be grateful for a Nigerian business in Ghana taking into consderation the frustrations given to Ghanaian companies trying to establish or import into Nigeria. It shows your hypocrisy. And I said your banks have listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange and you are there sayin no.Don't you know that they can't survive on their parents companies so they have to seek for capital from their host country.Toyota is a Japanese company buh Toyota America is different from Toyota Japan in terms of ownership and shares cos Americans own majority shares of Toyota America just as British own majority of Toyota or Samsung Britain. It's just the brand and minority shares from the parent company that stands.MTN recently listed majority of its share in Ghana and later Nigeria if you care to know. And Dangote is struggling. You are not in Ghana so don't speak on vague promises the company tends to aspire.Ecobank Ghana,Zenith,Accessbank,GT Bank have all listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange. If you don't list then your operations become highly limited and resourced like how Zenith Bank in UK is almost useless with just a mini office. Also just this morning,4 Nigerians have been exchanging gunfires with the Ghana police SWAT team and were later arrested and charged for kidnapping two Canadians in Ghana.Already a Nigerian is the prime suspect of kidnapping three girls in Ghana believed to have been transported to Nigeria. He is currently in police custody.Just last month,a group of Nigerian gang had kidnapped the Estonian ambassador to Ghana who was rescued.Your people have brought this kidnappings into a country as peaceful and safe as Ghana and you are here annoying me.

grin grin grin

Hopefully, you will get “annoyed” enough to open your mind up to some knowledge....
Because frankly the more your write the more you betray a lack of understanding of basic concepts.

Yes, investors should repatriate profits to their home countries. Why not? Is business a charity because it’s conducted in a different country? Nonetheless, what you so glaringly fail to comprehend is that it is still a “win-win-win” situation because direct and indirect jobs are created in the host nation (and since I suspect that you probably may not understand what indirect jobs are, they are all those jobs and services that support or are patronized by people with jobs or businesses), wealth is generated within the host nation, and tax revenues (both corporate taxes paid by the investor and income taxes paid by all those individuals who now have jobs) accrue to the host nation’s treasury, which the host government can invest in physical and social infrastructure (the latter including such things as education, healthcare and mass transit). Accordingly, while a crude xenophobe like you are annoyed that Nigerians are investing in Ghana, I WELCOME South African (and other foreign) investment into the Nigerian economy, and hope that enlightened Africans (not xenophobes) will champion intra-African investments!

Meanwhile, Toyota Corporation is ONE company that is triple-listed in Tokyo, New York (NYSE) and London. Companies like Toyota USA and Toyota UK or Toyota Canada are mere subsidiaries of the parent company. The are NOT listed companies and are neither listed nor publicly-traded among Americans, Britons or Canadians. Furthermore, even when a corporation is listed on a local bourse, it does NOT necessarily mean that nationals/citizens would hold majority shares. Stock exchanges (including African exchanges like Nigeria, Johannesburg and probably Nairobi) are open to trading and shareholding (including majority holding) by FOREIGN direct and/or portfolio investors. Nonetheless, Access Bank is the ONLY Nigeria-originated bank listed on the Ghanaian bourse, while all of the other Nigerian banks (like GTB, Zenith, UBA, and First Bank) are NOT locally-listed and have NO significant (if any) local Ghanaian shareholding.

Please stick to the topics that you know, and at least be enlightened and broad-minded enough to see every discussion as a LEARNING moment/opportunity and thus allow yourself to learn subjects that are obviously alien to you. Cheers. cheesy
