It's a issue with the new Android 9 update. Seems the feature on MIUI clashes with android's kernels. Hopefully subsequent updates will fix it

The bootloader of my RN5 unlocked instantly, no waiting period, I lost all my files though, foolishly thought everything will be intact

go to your musicxmatch settings and tick the options as in the screenshot.

Mind you, you'll always need to on your data for the lyrics to display; if you want them offline, you'll need the premium version of Musixmatch.

I said before, if u have tampered with the rom of recent Xiaomi devices, don't lock the bl ever and update ota or watever means... If u must update the rom, don't lock it back. Unless ur device is in its original follow come rom, not tampered, that is either global version or Chinese version, then u can lock bootloader and do whatever updates u want.
Otherwise brace ip for brick city
