Meet the 19-year-old student who got accepted to Yale, Princeton, MIT and Stanford

Carolyn Asante Dartey Standford
Carolyn Asante-Dartey will be going to Stanford University

She had received a scholarship to the most expensive school in Ghana as the first winner of The Dr Dennis Larkin Scholarship which seeks to support deserving Ghanaian students with international world-class education for two years in grade 11 and grade 12 equivalent to SHS2 and SHS3.

Despite the early struggles of changing systems, Carolyn did her best during her stay at Lincoln Community School to get admission to two Ivy League schools, put one a waitlist for one and get other top schools.

The 19-year-old Ghanaian student was admitted to Yale University, Princeton University, Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), University of Toronto, Grinnell College, Syracuse University, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Pace University and Lynn University.

She was also put on the waitlist of Ivy League school Cornell University.

Here are photos of the Ghanaian student who got admission to Yale, Princeton, MIT, Stanford and other top universities.

She will be going to Stanford University.

Kazikazi:
Your 3 trillions budget is just an estimation. You have a shortfall of about 600 billion ksh. Then you will spend 800 ksh ( about 8b $ into servicing your huge debts. Then there are some cash which will be lost due to massive Kenyan corruption. Then the rest won't do much since Kenya is generally more expensive than Tz. All in all, Tz small budget will achieve better results than Kenya's fictitious budget.

Bagamoyo have been suspended for now.LNG will mostly done by private companies.

How do you think we afford large infrastructural projects like SGR in record time? We debt-finance them. Your puny budget cannot do anything thats why all you will ever do is scream at Kenya for doing things you cant afford. Tz budget is too small for such a vast populated country with poor people. How much of your budget goes to pay your HIPC debts? I wanted a breakdown of what exactly you do with this small money budget. You know your entire national budget is smaller than the money allocated to the executive wing of the Kenyan govt alone. Even Uganda are almost catching up with you in budget. I keep telling you and your Nigerian ilk that despite the corruption in Kenya we still do mega stuff that countries with less or no corruption cant do. We did SGR in record time now its already clocking 3 million passengers. You are still struggling to erect a few miles of piles for your SGR. You planned Bagamoyo Port and screamed your lungs out how you will finally eclipse Mombasa Port now you just told me you suspended it. I didnt even know that! Meanwhile our Mega Port of Lamu continues to take shape. We havent suspended it even for a day and work there goes on 24/7. I cant imagine the fate of Tanzania when its finally complete. What will happen when we have both Mombasa and Lamu Port? Dont you think we will take all the cargo away from your tiny Daresalaam port? You fail to take initiative and sacrifice like Kenya and then hate on Kenya. You bloody albino-sucking haters! grin You will remain HIPC & LDC forever grin
Whether you like it or not, the huge Kenyan budget, even with the corruption, enables Kenya to accomplish mega infrastructure projects. and Btw, I dont expect your LNG to even get started. Another round of potentially fruitless talks slated for Sep. Your poor govt has resigned to fate after realizing it will never afford to finance it. How do private companies pay for such a vital asset? Will you even ever manage to extract your mineral wealth? LNG is definitely another Bagamoyo in waiting. Your national budget is puny and a severe embarrassment to the people of Tanzania.

New 32 Berth Lamu Port construction at Kenyan Coast.

The first ship is expected to dock here by end of this year 2019. The first three berths almost complete. Over 70 % done.

After that the Kenyan govt will allocate a similar sum to complete another bunch of berths and Tanzanians will be screaming: Your budget is stolen!!!! Needless to say, when complete, the megalodon 32 berth Lamu Port will catapult Kenya's Port handling capacity to the top of Africa. That should be around the same time when we eclipse everyone on the continent economically grin

Kazikazi, why dont you build just one berth at bagamoyo to prove a point?

This project will open up 70 % of Kenya's landmass (the arid north and east, Turkana and Co where you see starving folks) that hasnt been part of the mainstream Kenyan economy. When complete in a decade's time, the value chain emanating will directly create employment to 1 million of these citizens

This is giving me a lot of personal concern. To be honest, there are genuine Nigerians in Ghana but the desperate ones has outnumber them and Ghana immigration authority may be ruthless now. Since the plan is to drag Ghana into the same cesspit. Ghana, the most peaceful country in west africa, fourth in Africa and 41st globally will ensure she maintain this trends. Not in Ghana now but will be in the country soon. So i can at least have a direct access to the local info instead of the online report which may be biased.
I hope we can meet someday.

It's not your money still,if Tony wants he could wish not to support Kenyans, right? No one has forced him at gunpoint,he can spend his money the way he wants to.Leave him out of this!

All this talk is it for me to stop analyzing the parasitic begging attitude that follows every Kenyan from birth.
Tony holds the program every year in lagos and puts his form online . Who told you guys to register and transport yourself down to lagos so you can commence your usual begging attitude which something you are committed to continue this year.
@bolded that is not the case but rather it would have been the talk of the century if it was a kenyan doing the same thing, so allow me boast on tony's wealth - it's our money not your money go and borrow from china as usual and leave us to enjoy our money " world renowned beggars"
Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by samorobo: 2:47am On Jun 14, 2019
rvp2018:
What cheap talk. You know when I saw Nigeria GDP figures - I was doubtful - because everything else was OFF- then I took my time - and I figured out I will start with biggest elephant in the room. Agricluture is nearly 1/4 of Nigeria GDP - about 100B dollars (Incredulously one of world HIGHEST) - and so it easy to focus on it - it very simple production figures * prices.

Oil figures are easy - Algeria and Angola produce around the same barrels per day - 2m - and we know it's exported commodity - so easy to verify.

Cocoa - also is easy to verify - you export all the beans.

Now our problem is where do you get the figures for yams, cassava, maize, rice, sorghum, millet, plantains? The figures I have seen are all estimates...not a single precise figure..just WILD ESTIMATES.

Just direct us to where - and then help us with verification.

That is what we do in Kenya - KNBS - does cross-verification. They get data from ministry or agency or board - and they cross-verify.

I am convinced once we "solve" the crop & livestock production figures - we would have discovered the cooking that Yemi Kale does at Nigerian Stats office.

All this long talk does not stop nigeria from being the largest economy in africa with an average nigerian being richer than an average kenyan when you look at the gdp per capita which shows how beneath you are under us.
90 million Nigerians living in extreme poverty is silly . Even a roadside begger in.lagos can earn up to N1,000 in 2 hours which equals more than $3.
The pattern used in arriving at that nonsense was based on lagging economies which in prevalent in our economy and is expected to Change this year. A child born today is counted among that figure as a citizen living below the poverty line as though he should have cashed out money from the uterus.
Gdp per capita is the only reliable key and going by IMF& WORLD BANK YOU GUYS ARE SO POOR AND SHOULD TUCK YOUR HEADS IN SHAME" and please stop parading that false info about you being a $100bn already when world bank and imf has said you would amount to sh10trn =$98bn by the end of this year and nobody is so sure you will eventually arrive at that figure as drought has begun to set in and widen it's horizon across the 500,000kmsq of resourcesless, shamefully less than 10,000km tarred roads, land - and it's even set to intensify greatly next year's which has been predicted to lead to an inevitable famine. You better go and tell your govt to build an ark maybe this time it would be called "KENYA ARK" so you can store foods and accommodate the doomed souls on your many years of famine soon to come. How I honestly wish I would see how great kenya has become but unfortunately the feeds and result I am getting online has disuaded that innocent wish. Come 2025 you are going into neocolonialism with your lives, future and destiny at the mercy of your chinese masters( I hope you.learn martial art during these horrible vicissitudes which you most likely are not going to come out from until at least 2040 that's if your govt play their cards well else it might extend till 2080 by then you'ld be long gone with your kid approaching 30 years while he/she still pays for your govt gullible stupid act which allowed himself to be used as a pawn in the chinese game )
You had better listen to your brother cossano cos as he once said nigeria economy is one of the world most informal economies and in reality should be in trillion not the less than three figure before the 9 zeros that makes up a billion that you guys are still struggling with even though it is largely influenced by debt.
You know I try my very best to accommodate and tolerate you silly dreams of being a great and progressive nation with the dream of being africa largest economy but most times I can't help but revolt against that impossible imagination going by what's in ground and what nature as alinged your way as you step into trying years- and of course all thanks to your govt predecessor for not heeding the warning of these early predicted natural disasters and now you have to pay for each and every one of those years to come starting from next year.

No matter how you try to argue about the obvious the following still remains fact
(1): An average Nigerian is richer than an average kenyan, all thanks to our Gdp per capita
(2): 2.4 million turkanans are starving and we have not even included the pokot and the rest tribes that I cannot remember simply because they all have some weird unpronounceable names
(3 ) : Somalians are closing in on your borders and it only a matter of time before they gain absolute control on your resourceless land
(4 ) : alsaahab are currently operating in your capital - a place that holds more than 50% of your wealth and debt as well as international investment which apparently is your country most valued location

Cry like a bitch if you want NIGERIA IS GREATER THAN KENYAN. The only african country that has impressed me so far and will rival with nigeria in the future is egypt, and even at that I will say it's by a long shot. You need to see what these two giants are planning for the future. SA will be so benched and dwarf by egypt once egypt vision starts coming on stream soon enough .
So many laudable project .wait next year while we commission so many project that would make you cry like the bitch you are. In the meantime we are going gold next year the amount of investors that as showed interest so far has been amazing . I will kill you with progress until you die of unccessary hate and envy

And please don't sing emotions for me, cos I was actually smiling devilishly while I arranged your countries problem before you so you can be buzzed back into reality

You just need to use common sense -- actually eyes ONLY - see Nigeria pictures - to know it's not 400 or 500B dollar economy.

I mean you can look at 300B dollar economies like Egypt (100M people - not small country) or South Africa or Algeria (one world largest countries - maybe 3 times Nigeria) with incredible resources - and just 270B dollars. Just look at their pictures....and then look at Nigeria pictures.

Don't even look at poverty data or whatever.

And tell me how that can be 400-500B dollar economy would look like, how the cities looks like, infrastructure, name it.

I mean Nigerians when they look at Kenya pictures - their envy is so much- they shout whites & indians because they cannot believe it's african country by Africans - I mean their first reaction in Nairobi Thread by Gavillant was no way kenya was 40B economy (That thread IS older than this).

You cannot fake to be rich - at least not for long.

You must be deceiving yourself if you think that your ever growing rapidly springing up slum capital is great.
Don't mistake our absolute love an openess to the motherland as a compliment.
You are the jealous fellow always crying how ekoatlantic will not succeed and how it's in render. You have to always understand this when making such outrageous, ridiculous, envious statement - that nigeria is not kenyans mate , cos when we set our heart on a project we make sure we execute and finalise that project to completion unlike kenya that gives us failed, highly expensive chinese loan ,not able to carry cargo sgr project. Infact let me make you jealous the more.
Eko atlantic is planning to start construction of 75% of its towers at once going by the conversation RONALD CHAGOURY has been having on social media alongside the newly build residential building for ITB NIGERIA (a manufacturing firm in nigeria that has constructed lots of our skyscrappers as well as other construction firm- the residential camp will use for squatting by these company while they build ekoatlantic ) plus the numerous global forum he has attended to pitch this project .
Infact I thought Microsoft coming to ekoatlantic was only to establish their company (I mean they practically brought about 15 of their team to ekoatlantic from silicon valley) I just found out by a reputable sources that they want to invest and fund "EKO MARINE BUSINESS DISTRICT " which is exactly the same as dubai marina except that the shape is the only difference when viewed from a plane or using a drone.

You must cry that's what you are destined to do.
I gladly await your tears in a few hours when you are up

Are you afraid of us bringing up Kenya's woeful economic data and exposing it further? I smell fear. Don't poo in your pants.I am not interested in tearing apart your economy today.Relax. But don't push.

I don't understand. Write when you are not angry. cheesy

You keep forgetting one basic fact. The Nigerian market is the biggest single market in Africa. Based on the fact that agriculture in Africa is still at a backward stage, is it any wonder that Nigeria does not export much food.
Nigeria leads Africa in production of eggs and only second to South Africa in chicken.
Goats---- Nigeria
Rice-- Nigeria
Onions---Nigeria
Cashew---Nigeria
Groundnut.. Nigeria or Senegal
Cassava...... Nigeria
Yam.----------Nigeria
Sorghum----Nigeria
Palm Oil------Nigeria or Ghana.
Maize........Nigeria or South Africa
Citrus.......... Nigeria
And many more I don't have the energy for right now.
And don't forget: Chicken Shit---- Nigeria grin grin

So,I mean it when I said you would collapse from the effort. Where do you want to start from?
I am glad you didn't fault me on the figures I used for calculating your GDP since they are verifiable like you said. cheesy Thank you.

Abbeg Don't bother yourself. He is angered at how you demeaned their debt induced overcooked gdp and that's why he has resorted in making self imagining claims so he can feel better about his country's gdp and failure to construct a descent sgr that can handle cargoes and not run into losses despite the huge loan gotten from china that will no doubt send them to their early grave. Their poverty ridden low gdp per capita income country is sitting in a time bomb that was fantastically created and fashioned by nature and their corrupt govt with no ounce of sense and pity for its gullible citizens
After all these years he is just a kid throwing tantrums .
Pls let him cry

Okay - granted - Abacha spent 13B dollars to build Abuja - where did 983 BILLION DOLLARS GO.

I know a total of $140 billion was stashed abroad by Nigeria rulers.

That still leave with a balance of 850B dollars to explain to us.

Well we know you spend at least 10B annually to import and ran a crazy fuel subsidy - that should roughly take care of 10*56 yrs =560Billion.

And we also know you spend at least 10B to import food - another 560B.

I guess that is how the cookie crumbled. You basically ate and stole all the oil wealth.

Also ask yourself this question " WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH YOUR RESOURCELESS LAND FOR THE PAST 56 YEARS EVEN THOUGH YOU GOT YOUR INDEPENDENCE BEFORE SINGAPORE AND IT'S POPULATION OF 4 MILLION HAS PRODUCE A GDP THAT EVEN YOUR CURRENT IMPOSSIBLE GDP ENVISAGING OF $300B IN 2030 CAN NOT STILL MEASURE UP WITH THEIR CURRENT GDP " Lets not forget that they are also resourcesless with only one waterbody

Yet another bone-headed rant that is long on polemics and short on facts!

Anyhow, let me try respond to the little that made sense, and mostly offer your beloved doomed country unsolicited advisory pro-bono.

I am not sure why you're excited about Dangote refinery. The Indians and South Koreans already figured out how to cheaply refined oil. Honestly it's no game-changer even in Nigeria.

Yes, it will wipe the incredible shame of Africa biggest Oil exporter being also Africa biggest Importer off your faces. I know the irony is lost on you but hopefully Dangote whose is leveraged to the gills now, doesn't sweat-talk (corrupt) Abuja and bans importation of refined fuel - because you're gonna be picking the tabs at wrong time.

Who builds a refinery now - when all car manufacturers are going electric as early as 2025 and when projection are that by 2040 - Oil will be gone.Honestly if you didn't have so many problems - your first priority would be to prepare for a future without Oil. In kenya we are already nearly there - all our energy (electric) is now on renewable. We are dolling out incentive for people to buy electric cars. Today Min of Finance announced 10% lower duty for anybody who import electric car.

You're late to the party.

Anyway If I was Nigeria president I would prioritize 24-hrs electricity before anything. I cannot imagine the pain you guys have to go through on a daily basis. In Nairobi for the last many months - power has not gone out. In fact today I saw they just completed the first underground cabling --because we want a future where blackouts will make news.

Once you're done with electricity, I would focus on education. Your generation cannot be helped. Nigeria past is gone and it's present is pretty much doomed. You only got your future to think about.

You need to start from the basic. When Kenya emerged from a near similar hole in 2002 - we began from basic - we got every Kid to school. In fact it became such a success - old dying people trekked to school. One such old man was Kimani Magure - who later won awards including a movie made of him.

I think if you focus on those twos - invest all the little money you now got on electricity & education- from your puny budget - you'll start crawling. If you keep focusing on GRANDIOSE projects - little cities that can only host 10K Nigerians or 1B dollar rail that can only transport 400 passengers - the results will be the same.

Trust me in few years the world will be holding a conference on Nigeria if the country will still be around. The conference on how to help Nigeria because you're are gonna drag everyone down with 200M desperately poor people in it.

That is all for now.

With Love,
From Kenya.

Let me attend to some pretty silly thing you wrote out of pain to shield you outburst.
Electric cars : it has been estimated that half of the world's population should have bought into the idea if electric cars by 2045 .so nigeria still has about 25 years to gain from oil and and an additional 2 decades while the whole world start using electric cars.

Ekoatlantic will house : 500,000 people and provide job for 250,000
Centenary city will house up to a million and provide job for about 500,00
Eyimba will house 625,000 people ,.I can't remember how many direct jobs it will create
Orange island will house 14,000 people and provide 10,000 jobs. Let me stop here.
If a smart city that is expected to boost technological atmosphere of the people and improve the economy amongst all other positive thing is not good then I wonder what is good. Even egypt is building a $60bn entirely new smart city outside theit current capital city which has been dubbed "NEW CAIRO CAPITAL" and it's expected to house 5 million people and produce 2 million direct jobs. Countries like yours are still too tender and immature to build such with its debt induced economy that's has too beg china for everything most especially konza

As for electricity zoom.and read that post so we can know how to weigh your lies

Need I say more? Need I ? grin grin grin
TayserMahri:

I wonder why you have to stoop so low as to argue bank worth with them when clearly it is known and only natural for our bank to be ten time larger than their entire banking sector . It's not everything you must argue, sometimes you just allow their stupidity slide cause it doesn't .change the reality.
You can imagine that idiot saying their best bank would soon overtake all our bank aside zenith bank
I think you are right. There's no basis for comparison that's why the idiot brought up South Africa to save his burning ass. cheesy

And the future looks worse for Nigeria because their helpless babies are being infected more than anywhere in the world. One in every 4 babies born with HIV globally is a Nigerian. Combine that with their status as the globe's poverty capital and you get the picture. We're dealing with a megalithic HIV disaster. Too much for one country. In regard to mother-to-child HIV prevention Nigeria stands out for its slow (Tanzania-like) pace grin This despite Bill Gates pouring billions into Nigeria to prevent HIV. Nigerians, why are you trying to prove a HIV point? Everyone else is making progress.

I didn't see this post. See who's talking of hiv shocked you will soon overtake south Africa if care is not taking? You ranked ahead of Nigeria of hiv/aids. You're number 12 while Nigeria is number 21, the Gap is too big oga tongue

Why do have such low life expectancy without HIV-AIDS epidemics hitting your shores?. Don't celebrate yet - because once HIV-AIDS is done with Nigeria - you'll have many stories to tell.

The Aid scourge started in Congo forest and then moved to East Africa - with Uganda becoming the hardest hit in 80s and Kenya in 90s - and then it spread Southern Africa countries.

Uganda & Kenya have largely fought off the epidemics and are noted success stories in that fight. Southern Africa countries are just about turning the corner...they know understand what Kenya & Uganda went through in 80s and 90s.

Kenya saw it's life expectancy drops to low of 45yrs in 90s - as people were dying like fleas - but look - we are now on 67-69 yrs - and have changed the story completely.

Now the HIV-AIDS epidemics is turning towards West Africa - and Nigeria is not prepared to deal with it - they haven't even dealt with Polio and many diseases that have been eliminated elsewhere.

What matters in life - is PROGRESS - are you moving forward or backward.
