before stumbling upon this thread, i used to spend most of my time on nairaland on sections such as immigration and culture, and i have come to learn a lot about Nigeria from the culture section especially. i use to think that tribalism in kenya was the worse until i discovered the culture section, the the much hyped hatred between luos and kikuyus in kenya is nothing compared to igbo and yoruba hatred, in Kenya, tribes only quarrel not fight in the run up to election, after elections, we embrace each other and the journey continues for the next five years, what i have read on those sections makes me believe that tribalism in Kenya is still at infancy. Again in Kenya we do not practice ethnic nationalism, you will never hear tribes 'claiming' cities or regions and threatening other tribes with violence if they do not vote in a particular way or do certain things, am therefore submitting to us that Kenyan tribalism only exist among politicians at elections at not among the citizen because they do not want to be interrogated on issues,Nigerian should embrace one Nigeria even when politician mobilize along ethnic lines

Why do have such low life expectancy without HIV-AIDS epidemics hitting your shores?. Don't celebrate yet - because once HIV-AIDS is done with Nigeria - you'll have many stories to tell.

The Aid scourge started in Congo forest and then moved to East Africa - with Uganda becoming the hardest hit in 80s and Kenya in 90s - and then it spread Southern Africa countries.

Uganda & Kenya have largely fought off the epidemics and are noted success stories in that fight. Southern Africa countries are just about turning the corner...they know understand what Kenya & Uganda went through in 80s and 90s.

Kenya saw it's life expectancy drops to low of 45yrs in 90s - as people were dying like fleas - but look - we are now on 67-69 yrs - and have changed the story completely.

Now the HIV-AIDS epidemics is turning towards West Africa - and Nigeria is not prepared to deal with it - they haven't even dealt with Polio and many diseases that have been eliminated elsewhere.

What matters in life - is PROGRESS - are you moving forward or backward.

We have more budget than you.Why can't we not do more infrastructure. If we start counting fly over bridges in Kenya - dude - we will ran out of space. Before we get to other cities like Mombasa

And we are just getting started. We are spending I think 4B dollars on infrastructure this year alone.

BUDGET speaketh - when this thread started we had budget about 15B dollars - now it's double.

By 2023/2024 - we would be spending 60B dollars - and then by then we would have bridge most of our infrastructure deficit - and will be aiming at south africa kind of infrastructure.

Federal budget - you state budgets are very minuscule - outside of Lagos. I know there is a crazy governor in Cross Rivers who doesn't know what budget is - but generally your states are indebted to the eyeballs - and have huge problems paying salaries - leave alone funding infrastructure.
