As advised earlier on the thread, the roofing sheets used in front of the pen has been removed. It will be replaced with nylon.
Also, digging out of gravel and sand has commenced.

Update:

Its been a long while since I last updated this page. It has been a period of work, stress, happiness and struggle.
To be an entrepreneur is not so easy In this country especially executing a project of this kind.
But in all i give God d glory.
I have reached 65% completion and there's still some vital and important things to be done.

1.Dont cover the top with nylon rather cover it with net first then nylon.

2. Who help you to position the pen sitting because i can see in the picture the penetration of the sunlight into the farm this could cause hazard of heat stress when raising the broiler this is one major challenge farmers find difficult to fight it kills large birds pls try to prevent this.

3. At this stage risk management can be managed but when u raise birds without prior knowledge of the sector u will get tired and give up alot of farmers are running away from raising broiler just because there is no prior knowledge of the sector and lack of proper management structure i gave you info that i get paid for because i am a graduate like everyone seeking for jobs but get none but I decided to b a livestock farmer i paid a lot of prices and i lost money which I wouldn’t want u to fall to same
I have given you my terms to show u d secret to raise a commercial broiler and sell to offtakers as at wen due . With this u dont need regular birds or feed or medications u at as to be done the proper way if not hmm

The pen was positioned in a way that d rays of the sun only reaches a small part of the pen and not the entire pen. This was put into consideration before the construction.

Well as regards your third point, part of the reason i posted this on this platform is to get different ideas from people as to get the best way to manage and sell them broilers as at when due.

Since you've decided to charge me to get information, I've decided to contact you towards d completion of the project. Cos at this moment Man has been up and down looking for resources to get the pen completed.

U need a roadmap... the issue of broiler offtakers will have been addressed in the plan...
Try and visit more poultry farms in Ibadan .....
See the Manager and ask questions....
List all the major and minor big farms in Ibadan.. Amo, etc
Call their customer service line ...
There are possibility they have a broiler offtaker arrangement ..
Network with Poultry Association of Nigeria members.... they should have one in Ibadan...

YOU NEED A GOOD MENTOR CLASS THEORY IS DIFFERENT FROM FIELD PRACTICALS.
BEFORE CONSTRUCTING A BROILER PEN YOU NEED A COMPASS TO MEASURE THE RIGHT PEN SITTING BECAUSE ONE OF THE MAJOR CHALLENGIES FACED IN BROILER IS HEAT STRESS AND IF YOU DONT GET THE PEN SITTING RIGHT FROM THE BEGINING THAT WILL BE ALOT OF CHALLENGE WHEN THE BIRDS ARE MATURED.

SECONDLY I SAW IN THE PICTURE THE FRONTAGE YOU COVERED WITH ZINC PAN KINDLY REMOVE IT AND COVER IT WITH CHICKEN NET YOU WILL NED ALOT OF THE BREEZE AFTER 2 WEEKS

YOU DID NOT CUT COST BY BUYING BOKOHARAM NET,ITS ONLY USED FOR TURKEY FARM BECAUSE 1, ITS HAS TINY HOLES WHICH REDUCES THE POWER OF BREEZE TO COME INSIDE THE PEN 2,ITS TOO STRONG THAT IT CAN INJURE THE BIRDS THEY ARE TOO FRAGILE FOR BOKOHARAM NET.

bio security won't be an issue, if u raise the flooring of both units (higher than the floor of the pen house), demarcate it entirely with a full wall, and make sure the entrance to those units are not thru the pen house or close to the pen house. If the pen house entrance are faced North and west, y can face the entrance to the brooding house east, and the farm house will face south

Youare making good progress, can't wait for you to reach 100% completion.
